(The preamble is omitted.)

The Cosmic Compass turned out to be an artifact from the world of Ultraman! This was something Xie Jing had never expected, but on second thought, it actually made perfect sense. In the Ultraman universe, there was an endless array of advanced technology, and Ultramen like Noa even carried a touch of mysticism. The appearance of a "divine artifact" was hardly impossible.

Since the First Ultraman already knew the function of the Cosmic Compass, Xie Jing was spared the trouble of lengthy explanations. Now, he had only one request.

"If the Land of Light decides to launch an attack on Autopes, I want to participate. I want to witness Autopes’ demise with my own eyes!"

The First Ultraman deliberated for a moment. He had just met Xie Jing and didn’t know whether to trust him. But after thinking for a while, the First looked up at Xie Jing’s towering figure, enhanced with dazzling effects. With someone like him on their side, the assault on Autopes would surely proceed more smoothly.

This warrior from Earth, judging by the clean and efficient way he had just dealt with the monster, must have protected many humans. The creed of the Land of Light was that as long as evil could be vanquished, anyone—no matter their race—could become a friend of the Ultra Warriors!

Besides, he possessed the Cosmic Compass… even if it could only be used once!

Once was enough!

The First Ultraman believed that under the full might of the Land of Light, Autopes would not be able to withstand them.

So, the First nodded at Xie Jing and drew an Ultra symbol in the sky.

“The Land of Light welcomes friends of like mind. If you sense this signal, it means we are ready.”

“Understood! But… the time and space I’m in is not the same as yours…” Xie Jing voiced his concern.

The monster had been destroyed, Charliega had vanished, and in a moment, he would return to Diga’s timeline. If the Land of Light sent their signal to Tsuburaya’s world, wouldn’t he be standing them up?

The First shook his head, indicating that Xie Jing need not worry. “The great King of Ultra will take care of this. Though our timelines differ, we are in the same universe.”

“The King of Ultra will intervene?”

The First nodded. “No darkness can escape the King of Ultra’s grasp—except Autopes. That’s why the King has been searching for it all these years.”

“That’s wonderful!” Xie Jing finally felt at ease. With the mysterious Four Ultras involved, there was little doubt left about the completion of his mission.

“Ultra Warrior from Earth, tell me your name!”

“My name?” Truth be told, ever since he obtained the power of light, Xie Jing had never seriously considered his own codename.

“Just call me Rehe Ultraman!”

The two ancient warriors who had given Xie Jing his power were Achilles and Herau. Xie Jing combined a character from each of their names to form his own codename, in honor of the two who had fought to protect humanity.

“Very well, Ultra Warrior Rehe. The Land of Light will send you a signal soon—be ready!” The First nodded earnestly and extended his hand to Xie Jing.

Xie Jing extended his own hand, and their giant palms grasped each other tightly.

Then, without looking back, the First soared away.

Xie Jing looked up at the First as he swiftly flew out of Earth’s atmosphere and let out a long sigh of relief.

At last, this maddening “lucky” mission was about to be completed! Why hadn’t he thought of the Cosmic Compass sooner? He’d been running around questioning monsters—how foolish!

But even if he had remembered the Cosmic Compass earlier, it wouldn’t have helped. He couldn’t have confronted Autopes alone; he still needed to wait for this moment, to cooperate with the Land of Light.

Light blossomed, and Xie Jing’s figure rapidly shrank, finally returning to the form of an ordinary man.

His black hair vanished, revealing a shining bald head reflecting the moonlight, dazzlingly bright.

In such a good mood, Xie Jing no longer fretted over why he always ended up bald after transforming. As his hair grew back, he looked at Tsuburaya Eiji, who was standing dumbfounded among the trees, staring at him.

He wanted to tell Director Tsuburaya to make Ultraman well, not to mess around, and definitely not to heap all sorts of weird armor onto Ultraman, turning it into an endless commercial.

Just as he was about to speak, the surrounding environment suddenly warped, that familiar dizzy sensation flooding over him, and in a flash, the world became a swirl of brilliant colors.

It seemed that the space transfer created by Charliega only allowed for a brief stay in another timeline—it was not a true portal.

Finally, that sickening feeling faded, the air became fresh, and the surroundings shifted into the plaza in front of Tsuburaya Productions—it was already night.

The men and women strolling in the plaza were startled by Xie Jing’s sudden appearance out of thin air. Some even reached for their phones to call the police.

“Don’t be alarmed, everyone! I’m a member of the Victory Team!” Xie Jing quickly produced his identification and managed to calm the situation.

The car he had driven earlier was parked by the roadside. Xie Jing got in, checked his watch—8:34 p.m.—and the clock in the car showed the same time.

Apparently, there was no time discrepancy between the two timelines. Xie Jing started the car and headed home.

Parking in the garage downstairs, he saw that the lights in his apartment were on, meaning Kamiji Asahi had already returned from the base.

As he opened the door, the aroma of food wafted out. Xie Jing smiled and called out loudly, “I’m home!”

“Welcome back!” Kamiji Asahi emerged from the kitchen, her hair tied up in a ponytail, apron around her waist, holding a spatula in her hand.

Seeing Xie Jing, she was overjoyed, unable to hide the sweet smile on her face.

After changing his shoes, Xie Jing walked over and hugged her, then kissed her gently on the lips.

This adorable girl was someone Xie Jing cherished deeply.

They lingered together for a while, until Kamiji Asahi was breathless.

“Oh no! The fish is still frying!”

She hurriedly broke free from Xie Jing’s embrace, shot him a playful glare, and ran back to the kitchen.

“Darling, wash your hands and get ready for dinner!”

“All right!” Xie Jing replied, smacking his lips—sweet, with a hint of apple.

After dinner, Xie Jing sat with Kamiji Asahi on the sofa, watching television.

With the beauty in his arms radiating happiness and the mission seemingly within reach, Xie Jing nevertheless felt a shade of melancholy.

Once the mission was complete, would he really be able to return home? And if he could, could he bring Kamiji Asahi with him?

But if Kamiji Asahi, who had lived here all her life, were to cross over with him and discover she was merely a minor character in a tokusatsu show, would she fall into despair?

And if he couldn’t bring her, what would she do if he vanished without a trace? She would surely search the world for him.

Xie Jing could not bear the thought of Kamiji Asahi suffering any harm because of him.

For this girl who loved him with all her heart, Xie Jing could find no good solution.

He had wrestled with this dilemma before.

He had consulted the system, but received no response, leaving him adrift with uncertainty.

To be honest, he didn’t want to let go. Even if he was no longer the Fujii Yuta he once was, after all these days together, Xie Jing had developed a deep affection for Kamiji Asahi.

In this respect, even one who could transform into Ultraman was nothing more than an ordinary person.
