As a postdoctoral graduate from the highest institute of Kyoto University, Yuta Fujii was originally hailed as the youngest genius aircraft designer in all of Japan. Yet, such a prodigy managed to lose his way within the Far East Base.

It was during this misadventure that he encountered a senior figure from the Research Department who seemed to recognize him. Before he knew it, he was dragged along to a small room in the development area and handed a stack of documents.

“Fujii-kun, this aerodynamic device was designed by you. You know it better than anyone. These are some of our questions. Please help us out,” the senior said.

When Xie Jing, utterly bewildered, received the tasks assigned to him, he stared at the densely packed characters and requirements, momentarily left speechless.

“Great System, grant me power!” Xie Jing lay back on the sofa, raising two fingers in silent prayer.

He truly couldn’t understand a word. If the system didn’t perfect his persona, he’d be exposed sooner or later.

A muffled sound echoed in the room, as if struck by lightning. Suddenly, something called intelligence, carrying vast knowledge, poured into Xie Jing’s mind.

His vision darkened as the torrent of information forcibly squeezed into his brain, opening up narrow pathways, gradually forming the proper shape.

Half an hour later, Xie Jing stood up, delighted. When he looked back at the tasks, the knowledge in his mind quickly helped him search for answers, one after another, with ease.

He spent ten minutes resolving all the assignments. Checking the time, it was already six o’clock in the evening.

His communicator buzzed at his waist. Xie Jing pretended to open it skillfully, and Akane Kamidera’s face appeared on the screen.

“Let’s have dinner together!”

“Alright, Akane!”

He completely forgot he was supposed to report to the Victory Team.

But… how could he resist the charm of the childhood friend the system had gifted him? And that uniform—wasn’t it a little too big?

The TPC cafeteria was spacious, and for Xie Jing, who had barely tasted proper food in a year, the dishes were an unparalleled delicacy.

While eating and chatting idly with Akane Kamidera, he occasionally slipped in some rustic, playful lines from his homeland. The young lady soon blushed scarlet.

Oh ho ho, his skills hadn’t faded after all!

Xie Jing grinned smugly, confident that within three days, he’d hit a home run.

Yet, whenever the conversation veered to such topics, a voice echoed endlessly in his heart.

Beast~ Beast~ Beast~~

Ah, that must be the lingering affection of the original owner for Akane Kamidera.

Imagine—a pair of childhood friends, mutually enamored, yet never confessing in over twenty years.

Most importantly, the man was a genius, handsome, pursued by many, while the woman was beautiful, faithfully following him.

Wasn’t this the classic plot of a Japanese harem manga?

Reflecting on this, Xie Jing even checked on his little brother—yes, still there…

Twenty years, and only his left and right hands for company—what incredible restraint.

Beep beep beep…

Suddenly, a red alarm sounded. The entire cafeteria fell silent, then people hurriedly abandoned their meals and rushed to their posts. But for senior researchers like Xie Jing, there was no need to leave; they had no assignments and could eat in peace.

Yet, how could he eat calmly in such circumstances? Xie Jing walked over to the glass window meant for night views and saw, in the sky, a streak of red light trailing a fiery tail as it hurtled toward the earth.

The Swallow took off from the base, flying toward the site of the meteor’s fall.

Was the story finally beginning?

The first episode of Tiga started with a meteor crash, which turned out to be a time machine. The giants prepared to awaken, the monsters Golza and Melba sought to destroy the giants, and Daigo gained the power of light.

Xie Jing fell into deep thought. His task was simple: replace Daigo, obtain the power of light, and become Ultraman.

But he couldn’t remember where the giant statue was located in Japan!

After all, he watched Tiga in junior high. To remember the general plot after so many years was already impressive.

He needed to find a way to get the location ahead of time.

Right, he was a member of the Victory Team!

Xie Jing finally remembered.

Hmm… but where exactly was the Victory Team’s operations room?

Turning, Xie Jing saw Akane Kamidera with her eyes closed, making a wish. He couldn’t help but chuckle and patted her shoulder.

The young lady opened her big eyes, blinking at him.

“Akane, things won’t be peaceful from now on.”

Akane Kamidera tilted her head, puzzled. “What?”

...

That night, using the excuse of a moonlit stroll, Xie Jing saw two Swallows return to the base in succession. He understood: one carried Daigo and Rina, who had discovered Golza on the Mongolian plains before returning, and the other brought back Yurei’s time machine.

Things were about to get lively.

He had always wondered how to insert himself into the plot. Joining the Victory Team was already a god-tier starting point granted by the system; many predecessors had written dozens of chapters without even entering the TPC base.

His mission was to become Ultraman. Xie Jing remembered there were three giant statues beneath the pyramid; it didn’t specify which Ultraman he had to become.

If he stole Tiga, would this world come after him?

He looked up at the sky, but saw no sign of any world consciousness.

Still, even if nothing stopped him, Xie Jing didn’t want to rob Daigo of his chance. With monsters appearing frequently, if he were the only Ultraman, wouldn’t he be exhausted?

Why all the fighting and killing? How tiresome.

He just wanted to be a lazy fish, lying down whenever possible.

Once his mission was accomplished, he’d quit the Victory Team at once, and with his childhood friend, lounge in different beds—that was his ultimate dream.

Simple and beautiful.

Thinking this, Xie Jing wiped the drool from his lips, smiling at Akane Kamidera who led the way.

He felt confident.

Along the way, people greeted him, some smiled at him.

Passing through layers of security, everyone working here recognized this talented, strong-willed genius.

“I won’t go in,” Akane Kamidera said, tidying up Xie Jing’s uniform with a cheerful smile, then turned and left.

The automatic door opened, and Xie Jing felt as if he’d stepped back into childhood. Everyone inside was a familiar face.

Daigo, Rina, Captain Megumi, Vice Captain Munakata, and others.

All just as in Tiga. They turned and stared at Xie Jing in surprise.

Was this notorious latecomer only eight hours late today?

He’d arrived so early.

“Here you are…” the chubby Masami Hori pointed at Xie Jing. “So early—must be tired. Sit down and rest.”

Knowing Hori was teasing him, Xie Jing smiled awkwardly.

“Fujii, was home too boring? What made you come to the operations room?” Tetsuo Shinjou asked, making a mischievous face.

Xie Jing replied with a sheepish expression.

Captain Megumi stood up, looking at Xie Jing, and slapped the table. “Enough, everyone. Fujii-kun, I know you’re a genius, but please be punctual next time!”

“Yes!” Xie Jing couldn’t argue.

“All right, let’s continue!”

The doctor picked up a laser pen, carefully slicing the meteorite from end to end.

Inside the halved meteorite, a faint silver metallic gleam shimmered.
