Chapter Ten: A Turn for the Better?
Page 1/3
A monster has appeared!
Wow! The Giant of Light is here again!
Oh no, the giant is about to turn to stone!
Wow! The giant changed color!
Ah, the monster split apart!
...
In a fierce life-and-death struggle, this time the one piloting Tiga was Daigu, and it was obvious that he was still quite inexperienced with the giant’s skills and combat. Thankfully, Gakuma was a pretty lousy opponent—thick-skinned and tough, but not much else—so Tiga managed to finish the fight.
Even so, after defeating Gakuma, the timer on Tiga’s chest was flashing rapidly.
The monster had been vanquished, but the TPC’s work was far from over. Reports would soon flood the Victory Team’s operations room; after all, this was the first time they’d faced a monster, the first time they’d used their weapons—there was no precedent for any of it. Many in upper management were just waiting to see the Victory Team’s report.
No matter how busy the TPC was, ordinary people living outside saw things quite differently.
The dazzling beam attacks, the towering giant like a mountain—in an instant, an Ultraman craze swept across the world.
Every major TV station in Neon broadcasted the giant’s battle live. Seeing the giant’s immense strength and how he helped humanity, everyone went wild for him.
Luxury brands quickly launched products inspired by the giant. Toy factories worked through the night to produce Ultraman toys. Akihabara, Neon’s most iconic district, was even planning to release a feminized version of Ultraman.
Xie Jing and Akane Kamiji stood by the street, tilting their heads up to watch the entire battle unfold on a giant screen. Akane cupped her hands, her eyes sparkling as she gazed at Ultraman.
“So cool! He’s so tall!” Akane said, making a gesture with one hand high, the other low.
“It’s wonderful to have a giant protecting us!”
Hearing this, Xie Jing smiled and took Akane’s hand. “He’s called Tiga. Tiga Ultraman!”
Akane turned to Xie Jing and asked, “Did the Victory Team give him that name? It’s kind of strange. Tiga...”
“No,” Xie Jing replied, watching as Tiga defeated the monster and flew off into the distance. He muttered, “That’s his real name. Urutoruman, Tiga!”
“Thank you for your hard work, Tiga!”
Akane blinked and stretched out her hand to cheer for Tiga.
Snapping back to reality, Xie Jing wrapped an arm around Akane’s slender waist, enjoying the softness of her delicate hand. His smile radiated with the spirit of ‘Ganbatte, Tiga!’
Yes, thank you for everything, Tiga!

...
The story moved forward step by step. Occasionally, Daigu would contact Xie Jing to ask about what was coming next.
Following his own principle of subverting the original plot, Xie Jing briefly told Daigu about the upcoming events, then continued his carefree days with Akane.
They kissed passionately at the foot of Mount Fuji, Neon’s sacred mountain in the hearts of its people.
They visited Akihabara and discovered that the sales of the feminized Tiga body pillows were booming.
Their relationship grew ever deeper, and Xie Jing found himself increasingly fond of the childhood sweetheart sent by his system.
Meanwhile, Tiga had gone through several more battles, and the name Ultraman was now a household word throughout Neon.
Everyone saw Tiga as humanity’s savior. Some idolized him, others disliked him—arguing that Earth’s safety shouldn’t depend on a giant of mysterious origin. Some even suggested disbanding the TPC, claiming it served little purpose.
Time passed day by day amidst human squabbles. Even with monsters appearing, society seemed to have grown used to it.
People continued to flee when necessary; everyone kept a small bag of valuables at home, and the TV broadcasted emergency procedures for monster attacks every day.
No one really questioned why monsters were appearing. Were they really just passing by?
Xie Jing pondered over his so-called lucky mission. Although his system seemed utterly unreliable, there were no penalties for failing, and the lottery feature was still grayed out and unclickable. There was no time limit on the mission—it seemed as if he could stay in this world forever.
But Xie Jing wanted to go home.
This lucky mission was his only way back.
But who was really behind all of this?
He had no clues—nowhere to start!
...
That day, the weather was beautiful—the sun warm and bright, its gentle rays bathing the earth in comfort.
Xie Jing and Akane lay on the grass, both wearing sunglasses, surrounded by a spread of food.
He popped a glistening grape into his mouth, then playfully bit Akane’s slender finger, savoring her bashful expression—his heart was utterly at ease.
Unbeknownst to him, the mood in the Victory Team’s operations room was tense to the extreme.
An out-of-control spaceship was about to crash into the Delta Space Station orbiting Earth. Yet Commander Nanase, the station chief, hesitated until the last seventeen seconds before finally firing the laser and destroying the ship—showing no regard for the lives of those aboard the station.
Director Zewei was furious. He removed Commander Nanase from his position and ordered him to return to Earth immediately.

Nanase was none other than the father of Rina, a member of the Victory Team—a father who, thirteen years ago, broke his promise to be there for his daughter’s birthday and flew into space instead.
As Nanase and his crew boarded a spaceship to return to Earth, they were suddenly attacked by an alien vessel, catching the entire Victory Team off guard. Rina, defying orders, piloted the Swallowcraft alone toward the crash site.
She insisted the man had nothing to do with her, but seeing him in danger, she couldn’t help but worry.
The Victory Team sprang into action, but no one informed Xie Jing. To everyone, this long-absent team member had become completely invisible.
After a day of fun, night had fallen deep and late. Xie Jing and Akane returned to their hotel, embracing on the balcony, gazing at the starry sky and enjoying their tender moment.
Just then, a red streak flashed across the sky. Akane pointed excitedly, “Look, a shooting star!”
Xie Jing gently held her, a flash of gold in his eyes.
Good grief, that’s no shooting star! That’s a spaceship about to crash!
Looks like it’s time for him to enter the story.
He pressed a lingering kiss to Akane’s forehead, now able to completely ignore the noisy “beast~ beast~” echoing in his mind.
He whispered in her ear, “Darling, you rest first. I need to step out for a bit.”
“Alright.” Akane suspected nothing, simply reminding him, “Come back soon. I’ll be waiting.”
Such a thoughtful girl was impossible not to love. After a few more tender moments, Xie Jing finally got dressed (?) and headed out.
This time, he had a feeling something big was about to happen.
What he didn’t know was that, after he left, Akane carefully took an uninflated feminized Tiga body pillow from her bag, borrowed a pump from the maid, and filled it with air.
Then, wearing only a thin nightgown, she hugged the pillow to her chest and flopped onto the bed, murmuring over and over, “So cute, so cute.”
Xie Jing had actually been beaten to the punch by a body pillow!
PS: What can I say... After writing these past few days, I can clearly feel my writing and plot construction are still very lacking—even some sentences are downright awkward. I’ve read all the suggestions from readers, checked my previous work, and corrected everything I could.
Being a new author isn’t easy, and it’s even harder here on Qidian, the graveyard for beginners.
I want to improve together with you all. I’m determined to keep writing, improve my prose, and craft better plots.
