Chapter 98: The Ancient Teleportation Array

A month passed swiftly, and Lin Yang restrained himself from immediately seeking out the cave dwelling. He quietly arranged matters over the course of the month—transferring his sect’s spiritual herbs and relocating his household here. It seemed clear that he intended to settle down in this place. His activities attracted the attention of other Golden Core cultivators, but after a brief inquiry, they lost interest.
However, news of him spending 100,000 spirit stones to rent a place for a year spread, marking him as a big fool in the eyes of some. Yet as the month passed, the gossip faded, and no one dared discuss it openly; their focus shifted elsewhere.
“Shu, come here,” Lin Yang called his son from outside. Young Lin Shu now looked very well-behaved and handsome. His facial features resembled Lin Yang’s—a pointed oval face—but his eyes bore a slight resemblance to his mother’s. A man with fox-like eyes was somewhat awkward, though it suggested he might be skilled in cross-dressing.
Lin Yang’s daughter was already ten years old and had long since been assessed for her spiritual roots. She was a budding beauty, with a gentle and cultured temperament. Most days, she took care of her older brother, who—though only four years her senior—often seemed like he was missing a few screws. He was always getting into trouble, doing one mischievous thing after another. Even when he knew better, his hands acted before his brain—true to the saying of acting without thinking.
Many girls were truly sensible, and her talent even surpassed that of her brother, as she possessed dual spiritual roots. Their cultivation methods had been painstakingly procured by Lin Yang from other Golden Core or Nascent Soul cultivators, trading at great cost to find techniques suited to their spiritual roots.
This investment paid off handsomely: Lin Shu, with triple spiritual roots, reached the eleventh layer of Qi Refining at just fourteen years old, likely to establish a foundation in two years. Lin Hu had already established his foundation four years ago and married Lin Shiyu. He now held a position in Yellow Maple Valley, with ample resources and strength. But with his dual spiritual roots, it was uncertain whether he could advance to Nascent Soul.
Lin Yang’s daughter, having trained for only four years since age six, had attained the eighth layer of Qi Refining, progressing nearly two layers per year. Her rapid advancement was largely due to her obedient nature—she was hardworking and never angered Lin Yang or her mother, unlike her mischievous brother, who was often the cause of their mother’s frustration. Thus, Lin Yang gave his obedient daughter special attention.
As for that mischievous boy, if Lin Yang were less occupied, he might have already given him a beating severe enough to leave psychological scars. Fortunately, the boy’s mischief was mostly harmless, never bullying or oppressing others—just a kind-hearted troublemaker.

Otherwise, Lin Yang might have felt compelled to uphold justice by punishing his unfilial son severely.
“Father, what do you need?” Lin Shu swaggered in and plopped down before Lin Yang. Seeing him sit directly on the ground irritated Lin Yang, but he decided not to fuss—after all, the floor wasn’t dirty, and the boy could sit as he pleased.
“Where’s your mother?”
“She’s currently secluded in cultivation. She just broke through to foundation establishment and needs to stabilize.” Wang Ling’er possessed triple spiritual roots and, under Lin Yang’s dedicated nurturing, had finally become a foundation-establishing cultivator.
“Good. Go inform your second mother. I’m going into seclusion. The duration might be as short as a year or as long as five. No one is to disturb me on this mountain peak—I will set up a trapping formation here. Do you understand?” Lin Yang raised his voice, seeing Lin Shu’s distracted demeanor.
“Yes, I’ll go right away.” Lin Shu was perhaps a bit intimidated by his father’s imposing authority or perhaps wary of his temper, quite unlike the fearless little angel who would boldly tug at his father’s hair.
“Very well. You have the most free time. For any matters regarding the valley, discuss with Steward Jia and decide how to proceed yourself.” Lin Yang dismissed Lin Shu.
“It’s not that I don’t want to manage things—I just don’t know how,” Lin Shu admitted nervously.
“You’ll learn after you take charge this time. If you mess up, Steward Jia will stop you,” Lin Yang reassured him. Still uneasy, he sent a telepathic message to Yun Ting, asking her to keep an eye on Lin Shu, fearing he might do something foolish.
Once Lin Shu left and the entire mountain was deserted, Lin Yang set up a mist formation that concealed the mountain entirely, rendering the environment impossible to see through.
“Now it’s completely secure. Time to have a look.” Lin Yang then pierced through the cave’s entrance, descending tens or even hundreds of meters to reach an underground karst cavern.
Though not vast on its own, the cavern branched out in all directions, collectively covering a considerable area.

Lin Yang summoned a fireball in his hand, illuminating his surroundings. The subterranean environment revealed itself—various stalactites hung from above, while stalagmites rose from the ground, forming columns that crisscrossed to create a labyrinthine cave system.
Lin Yang’s divine sense could not penetrate the area, forcing him to explore personally, stepping forward to investigate.
The cave system was puzzlingly complex, with countless strange passages that made aimless wandering futile. He had to follow the airflow to guide his way. After an hour’s trek, he finally arrived at a spacious chamber filled with dozens of small tunnels—a place that surely preceded the teleportation array.
At this point, Lin Yang drew his Infinite Sword. According to records, several demonic cultivators had been ensnared and killed by white spiders here. Though these spiders posed no threat to him, letting them approach was unsettling. Better to prepare and swiftly slay them.
Passing through the maze of tunnels, he approached a peculiar altar where a massive mother spider loomed—several meters tall, pure white, its body covered in dense eyes and sharp legs, evoking revulsion.
Without hesitation, Lin Yang struck, slicing the creature in two with a single blow. Greenish fluid oozed from the wound, coating the ground.
“Disgusting.” Lin Yang set the filthy floor ablaze, melting it until it gleamed like glass.
Beneath the spider’s lair lay a vast spirit stone mine, at the center of which stood an ancient relic. Upon closer inspection, it was a legendary teleportation array. Next to it lay the body of a cultivator with brilliantly colored bones—the unfortunate soul who had consumed the talent-enhancing pill and met his demise here.
Was his fate fortunate or tragic? He had obtained a legendary treasure to boost his aptitude, only to perish before it could benefit him.
In his hand floated a blue token emitting a radiant glow, corresponding to the array’s intricate ground runes. This was the famed teleportation token, also known as the Great Relocation Token.
