To share a bed with a zombie—this day has finally come!

Before the apocalypse, I, Gu Lang, was wholly devoted to my work, never having dated, nor harboring the slightest interest in romance. Who would have thought that the end of the world would instead grant me an opportunity? Yet, the object of my affection happens to be a zombie.

Gu Lang took a deep breath, unable to deny the stir of excitement within him. Yu Qiuchi possessed both beauty and figure, more than worthy of his attention. But soon, reason took over.

Wouldn’t intimacy with a zombie risk infection? And besides, knowing the nature of that damned system, could the mission really be so simple?

Gu Lang cherished his life dearly; in the apocalypse, even a common cold could be fatal, let alone something of this magnitude. Who knew if he’d end up turning into a zombie himself?

Wait! Why does this mission suddenly seem so dangerous? There’s hidden peril lurking here!

Gu Lang’s lips twitched—so the wretched system truly had ill intentions! He’d almost fallen right into its trap.

Hold on! “Sharing a bed with a zombie”... It never specified that anything else had to happen, did it? Could it be that he simply had to pretend?

Gu Lang’s spirits lifted. After careful confirmation, it really did seem so!

Goodness! So it’s just a word game, is it? “Sharing a bed” is to be taken literally!

Damn you, system! You got me worked up for nothing!

Still, that was a relief—at least his life wasn’t in danger.

A moment later, Gu Lang sought out Yu Qiuchi.

“Gu Lang! Are you alright? I was so worried about you,” Yu Qiuchi said gently, her composure restored, her voice full of concern. She was sorting through the supplies they’d gathered during the day when she heard him, and her heart skipped a beat.

“I’m fine! It’s getting late... Maybe we should go to the room and rest?” Gu Lang stammered, but finally managed to get the words out.

“Rest?” Yu Qiuchi was startled. Was this some kind of bold suggestion? Was he really being this forward? Yet, since it was Gu Lang, she found she didn’t mind.

A blush spread rapidly across her cheeks, her heart pounding furiously.

Though a goddess in her own right, Yu Qiuchi had never dated—her experience was no better than Gu Lang’s. This was the first time anyone had ever asked her to “rest” together.

But with her affection for Gu Lang already maxed out, she couldn’t bear to refuse.

“Alright! We need to conserve our strength to survive tomorrow,” Yu Qiuchi replied, rising to her feet and taking the initiative to walk to the bedroom.

Gu Lang followed, equally flustered.

Thus, the two of them lay on the bed, their breathing ragged.

Outside, the night was deep, punctuated by the occasional wail of zombies. Though they kept some distance between them, Gu Lang and Yu Qiuchi could hear each other’s breaths.

Yu Qiuchi was still wearing a set of Gu Lang’s clothes, slightly loose, but her figure was unmistakable.

Her heart raced wildly—she was even more nervous than Gu Lang, and perhaps a little expectant.

Once her affection was maxed out, a zombie would accept everything from Gu Lang, as though they were lovers in the throes of passion.

Time slipped by. Just as Gu Lang hesitated, the system’s notification appeared.

[Congratulations, host, mission accomplished! You have shared a bed with Yu Qiuchi and are now true husband and wife! In this apocalypse, such a union is no small feat. The system is gratified and urges you to keep up the good work!]

[Mission status: Completed]

[Mission reward: 5 free attribute points]

[Hint: Every time the host and the zombie girl reach a new relationship milestone—lovers, spouses, affectionate spouses—a new zombie skill will be unlocked and shared!]

[Currently, all zombie skills have been shared, so sharing failed!]

So that’s how it is!

Gu Lang’s heart trembled with realization—so that was the benefit of the title! No wonder the system incessantly urged him to advance their relationship: it was all about skill sharing!

Did this mean that, as his harem grew, he’d have to meticulously win over each member, at least to the level of spouse? In that case, he could potentially possess dozens or even hundreds of skills!

Ecstasy followed swiftly, and anticipation bloomed within him.

The night passed.

Gu Lang was restless, barely sleeping a wink and waking with dark circles under his eyes. Still, the reward was worth it.

Yu Qiuchi fared no better; she too lay awake all night, her heart full of excitement.

Gu Lang’s restraint deeply moved Yu Qiuchi. She saw him as a true gentleman—someone worthy of entrusting her life to.

In truth, whether or not Gu Lang made any move, Yu Qiuchi’s affection would have soared regardless. That was the benefit of a successful conquest—she now knew how to reciprocate.

Gu Lang, however, was troubled by the next mission.

The new task required him to strike up a conversation with a newly appeared zombie.

On the surface, it sounded simple, but the situation was very different now.

The blonde little girl resided on the second floor of a building in the residential complex, near the first floor. The staircase had no door to block passage; zombies could approach at any time.

More importantly, Gu Lang couldn’t shake the feeling that his previous encirclement had something to do with this little girl.

“Could it be that skill called Sovereign’s Command?” Gu Lang narrowed his eyes, pondering.

He knew that certain mutated zombies possessed unique skills, like the Savage Charge he himself wielded.

The system wanted him to approach her—perhaps Yu Qiuchi had been chosen for the same reason, her special talent and skills.

If the blonde girl’s Sovereign’s Command was indeed significant, then Gu Lang had a plan.

If that skill truly allowed her to command zombies, he would be unstoppable—imagine controlling hundreds of zombies in the apocalypse!

And now he knew: as long as he unlocked the “lover” relationship, he could share skills.

Sooner or later, he’d obtain the Sovereign’s Command.

But therein lay the problem—if the little girl could command a zombie army, this approach would be far from straightforward.

“It seems I’ll need Yu Qiuchi to accompany me,” Gu Lang thought, glancing at her.

Now, Yu Qiuchi was virtually indistinguishable from an ordinary human, but at her core, she was still a zombie—a powerhouse boasting a terrifying strength of seven points.

With her by his side, they could guard against unexpected dangers. If they needed to escape, Yu Qiuchi could stay behind to cover him.

Resolved, Gu Lang wasted no more time. He distributed the five attribute points granted by the system between Speed and Strength.

Now, his Strength stood at thirteen, and Speed at seven.

The reason was simple: he knew missions would only become more difficult. Charm was currently useless; survival depended on Speed and Strength.

By bolstering these first, he could ensure his own safety, at least enough to escape a zombie encirclement.

Once he could reliably protect himself, he’d raise his other attributes, aiming to bring all stats to ten and become a true all-rounder—a hexagonal warrior.

With his decision made, Gu Lang set out with Yu Qiuchi to find the little girl.

He’d thought the search would be difficult, but to his surprise, she hadn’t gone far; she lingered at the second-floor landing, just around the corner.

The only complication was the dozen or so zombies wandering at the base of the stairs.

But zombies were cumbersome, driven by instinct; in their frenzy, they couldn’t climb stairs with any precision.

So despite being separated by only a single floor, it would take two flights of stairs and a turn to reach her.

That span of time would be enough for Gu Lang to make his approach.
