Chapter Sixty-One: A Single Punch Sends Gold Flying? Are You Serious?
"Very well, keep a close watch. I'll be there soon."
A voice echoed in Su Xing'er's mind.
She responded respectfully, then hesitated for a moment before gathering her courage to speak.
"Master, my medicine..."
"Heh, don't worry. I'll bring it for you this time. As long as you complete the task perfectly, the medicine will be supplied without fail!"
Su Xing'er breathed a long sigh of relief, her tone becoming even more deferential.
"Understood!"
...
"Swish, swish, swish!"
Gu Lang spread his arms, sending a torrential barrage of ice spikes raining down.
A multitude of ice-blue zombies were struck, shattered into pieces right where they stood.
Free attribute points: 2!
Free attribute points: 2!
Gu Lang turned, driving his fist into the snowy ground.
"Boom!"
The earth split open, ice fractured, and the blizzard was swept up by the impact, engulfing seven or eight ice-blue zombies.
Free attribute points: 2!
Free attribute points: 2!
Gu Lang advanced, killing and accumulating attribute points at a dizzying pace.
Behind him, Liu Wenhao was already dumbfounded.
"Damn! What's up with this guy? In just half an hour, he's gathered at least fifty attribute points!"
Su Xing'er hurried to keep up, equally stunned.
"Every kill reliably drops a point; at worst, three kills for one. Isn't this basically cheating?"
"But his female companion is different—the drop rate isn't as high. About five kills for one point, but even then, that's far above what we get. Clearly, these two have secrets!"
Liu Wenhao glanced at Gu Lang, his heart filled with both wariness and greed.
A guttural roar suddenly sounded ahead.
A gigantic white snowman appeared before the group.
It stood seven or eight meters tall, covered in white fur, its eyes blood-red, emanating a formidable aura.
"This... that's a Snow Mountain Zombie! It has the combat strength of an early Gold-rank! Everyone, retreat!"
Liu Wenhao sucked in a sharp breath, his eyes wide as saucers.
Why had this monster appeared?
In the Zombie Princess's dungeon, each floor was guarded by these powerful zombies—they were her followers.
Their ranks were consistently high, guarding entire levels.
From the third stage onward, the zombies were at Gold rank.
"Gold?"
Gu Lang stood at the front, facing the Snow Mountain Zombie directly.
"Gu Lang, it's best to live to fight another day. Snow Mountain Zombies appear randomly—next time, it might not be here. No need to waste energy dealing with it!"
Liu Wenhao was anxious; why was Gu Lang hesitating, not running?
"Is that so? Which means this zombie is rare—if I don't kill it now, I may not get another chance?"
Gu Lang sneered; he'd long wanted to test his strength against Gold.
Moreover, judging by the dungeon's style, killing these guardian zombies usually meant rewards.
Gu Lang was eager to clear the stage quickly, lest unforeseen complications arise.
"Roar!"
The Snow Mountain Zombie bellowed at Gu Lang, icy winds blasting from its maw.
Gu Lang's hair whipped about, but his gaze grew even sharper.
"Gold-rank zombie... I've slain one before. Let's see which of you is stronger!"
Gu Lang swung his fist, charging forth in an instant.
Savage Charge!
"Boom!"
The Snow Mountain Zombie stared in disbelief as its massive body was sent flying.
Upon landing, it gouged a shocking crater in the snowy mountainside.
"Wait—he knocked a Gold-rank zombie away with a single punch?"
Liu Wenhao's eyes bulged, his breath coming in gasps.
He knew Gu Lang was Gold-rank, but even Gold versus Gold should be evenly matched.
To send a Gold-rank flying with one punch—was this for real?
"Impossible! Even Liu Wenhao, Gold-rank himself, couldn't manage that. Could Gu Lang be mid-tier Gold?"
Su Xing'er also drew in a cold breath, halting in her tracks.
"Roar!"
The Gold zombie was thoroughly enraged, charging at Gu Lang like a cannonball.
But it barely got started before hundreds of ice spikes obstructed its path.
"Swish, swish, swish!"
The ice spikes poured down like rain, unable to pierce the zombie's body but forcing it back.
"Yu Qiuchi! Attack!"
Gu Lang barked a command, dashing forward once more.
He wanted to end this quickly.
Yu Qiuchi responded in kind; both executed Savage Charge simultaneously.
Their terrifying speed, combined with the high damage of the skill, made them two blades striking at the zombie's head and abdomen.
All three crashed down into the snow below.
A rolling avalanche formed a snowstorm scene.
Gu Lang's eyes flashed; he knew this move wouldn't finish it.
He subtly tightened his grip, unleashing Blade Shadows, paired with ice spikes in his hand, instantly stabbing in.
The Snow Mountain Zombie tried to struggle, but suddenly its eyes widened.
"You... you have three skills..."
But its voice was soon swallowed by the blizzard.
A muffled rumble followed, and the Snow Mountain Zombie collapsed.
It was slain on the spot!
"Damn! Seriously? Killed the Snow Mountain Zombie in under ten seconds—a Gold taken down?"
Liu Wenhao's eyes nearly popped out, unable to believe what he was witnessing.
What did a Gold-rank zombie mean? In the entire apocalypse, they were exceedingly rare; a single Gold-rank could take over an entire city.
It could massacre hundreds of safe zones.
To date, among the seven or eight nearby cities, humanity's Gold-rank chosen ones numbered barely a dozen.
Yet these two had just wiped out a Gold zombie.
And all in less than ten seconds!
How could anyone compete?
Liu Wenhao immediately abandoned any thoughts of plotting against Gu Lang.
He'd be mad to try to trick someone who could destroy a Gold zombie bare-handed!
"Heh, now Liu Wenhao's in trouble—thought he'd hired two mercenaries, but now they're so strong he can't handle them."
Su Xing'er eyed Gu Lang, her heart stirring—perhaps he could help her?
"Alright, this stage is cleared. The Gold treasure chest should be in this zombie itself. Let's keep climbing!"
Gu Lang grabbed the green light spot, glancing back at Liu Wenhao.
Liu Wenhao shivered, quickly nodding with utmost respect.
"Yes! Strike while the iron's hot—let's move up!"
The group surged forward, heading straight for the fourth floor.
"Gu Lang, according to the web, this is the unknown zone. The Zombie Princess could appear at any moment. A thousand years ago, she was already a zombie; when the apocalypse broke out, she started at high Gold. Now, she might be Platinum."
Su Xing'er sidled up to Gu Lang, speaking with a sweet, delicate voice.
Her figure was stunning, her chest particularly magnificent.
Gu Lang kept a straight face, saying nothing.
But inwardly, he was communicating with Er Gou.
"Gu Lang! Near Sun Family City, survivors are increasing rapidly! We've even spotted someone who might be Platinum!"
Gu Lang's heart tightened.
"Platinum?"
"Yes. He wore white clothes with 'SPC' printed on them!"
