Gu Lang pondered for a moment. Going on a date right now was tantamount to courting death, but if he didn’t go, the quest would be stuck. This damn system really threw him into the deep end from the start! He glanced at the dazed Yu Qiuchi; after some testing, he was certain she wouldn’t harm him.

So… could he make use of her?

A sudden inspiration struck Gu Lang. She had seven points in strength, was obedient, and, above all, a zombie. Couldn’t he order her to go out and collect supplies for him?

Of course! Wasn’t she the perfect, cost-free muscle?

Excited by his plan, Gu Lang immediately commanded his convenient girlfriend to head downstairs to the supermarket and loot supplies in his stead.

“Ee-ya?” Yu Qiuchi set off at once, limping straight for the supermarket. As for Gu Lang, he hid on the balcony, eyes fixed on her every move.

Yu Qiuchi moved unhindered; all the zombies ignored her completely. Seeing this, Gu Lang finally relaxed, a surge of excitement rushing through him. It really worked! Raising her affection didn’t change the fact that she was still a zombie.

This was perfect! Yu Qiuchi could go anywhere unharmed; from now on, not only would food and clothing be no problem, he might as well feast like a king!

The only trouble would be survivors, who might attack her. But that wasn’t a big deal—later on, he could gather a few more girlfriends and form an entire army. While others struggled to survive the apocalypse, he would be building a harem!

Just as Gu Lang was basking in self-satisfaction, Yu Qiuchi suddenly froze.

“Ee-ya!” She stood at the supermarket entrance, eyes locked on a living person—a young man, surrounded by zombies and in imminent danger. In the early days of the apocalypse, survivors like this were everywhere.

Yu Qiuchi’s zombie instincts kicked in; she joined the encirclement, baring her teeth, completely forgetting her boyfriend’s instructions!

Damn it! Once a zombie, always a man-eater?

Gu Lang panicked—he’d forgotten about this problem. Yu Qiuchi was, after all, still a zombie. Even with affection for him, it only extended to him; she might be loyal, but she certainly couldn’t control her appetite!

He grew anxious, but his steady nature kept him from shouting out and revealing his location. Besides, there was no guarantee Yu Qiuchi would even listen. All he could do was wait and hope this unlucky fellow died quickly.

Fortunately for him, the survivor was soon overwhelmed and eaten. Poor Yu Qiuchi didn’t get a bite, stomping her foot in frustration—like a little girl whose beloved candy had been snatched away. After standing miserably for a while, she finally remembered her mission and got back to work.

This time, without interference from survivors, things went smoothly. Yu Qiuchi entered the supermarket, as carefree as if she were on a picnic. Though her intelligence wasn’t high, she was comparable to a five- or six-year-old child. Shopping at the supermarket, she instinctively grabbed the things she’d loved in life.

Soon she emerged, hugging an entire shopping cart. Her muscle memory told her to use the cart, but instead of pushing it, she simply carried it as she walked—truly the neighborhood girl coming of age, mighty as a mountain and brimming with heroic strength. Who wouldn’t want a girlfriend like that?

Gu Lang couldn’t help but shiver.

On her way back, Yu Qiuchi navigated around the zombies, her little face showing faint disgust—was she already starting to think she wasn’t one of them anymore?

Gu Lang was speechless, but on reflection, it made sense. With newfound intelligence, a young girl would naturally dislike those filthy zombies.

In no time, a shopping cart full of goods was hauled into the living room. Gu Lang counted the haul: rice, flour, oil, dried meat, drinks, and milk—a huge harvest, enough to last him half a month.

“Well done!” Gu Lang beamed, patting Yu Qiuchi on the head. She felt cool to the touch, but her skin still had a lifelike texture.

“Ee-ya~ ee-ya~” Yu Qiuchi squinted her eyes in delight, tilting her head to receive more affection.

Now that food and drink were secured, it was time to consider how to complete the quest. Gu Lang frowned again. The current mission was to go on a date: eat together, stroll the mall, and watch a movie. All three could be done in a mall, but that was no small feat. Zombies were everywhere, especially in shopping centers. Yu Qiuchi could come and go unharmed, but he couldn’t.

Was he supposed to disguise himself as one of them?

Was this quest doomed to a dead end?

As he racked his brains, Gu Lang’s eyes suddenly lit up. Of course! Yu Qiuchi was immune to the zombies. Why not have her drive all the zombies out of the mall?

Zombies didn’t attack their own kind, and they were brainless; herding them would be no harder than herding sheep—probably easier. Once the zombies were cleared out and the doors locked, he could slip over quickly and complete the mission. Risky, but much better than charging in himself.

It all came down to his little girlfriend!

Gu Lang turned, face full of hope.

“Ee-ya?” Yu Qiuchi cocked her head, gazing at him with innocent eyes.

After a long day, night had fallen; best to rest for now. Gu Lang took out some jerky and milk, enjoyed a hearty meal, and got ready for bed.

But what about Yu Qiuchi? She was still looking at him expectantly, as if she wanted to climb into bed as well.

“Ee-ya… ee-ya!”

No, absolutely not! He may have been a virgin, but he still had standards—especially with their affection level still so low. What if she bit him in her sleep?

In the end, Yu Qiuchi slept on the sofa.

The night passed.

In the morning, Gu Lang was awakened by screams—another unlucky soul becoming a zombie’s breakfast.

Feeling refreshed, he rummaged through his things and found a set of video walkie-talkies he’d bought earlier. They ran on a local network and would work as long as there was power.

Today’s mission was difficult; he’d need to command from a distance. With Yu Qiuchi’s naivety, if she missed a zombie or two, he’d be the next meal. He had no intention of putting his life in the hands of a zombie.

He hung a camera around Yu Qiuchi’s neck. She looked down at it curiously; her sports bra happened to hold the camera in place, keeping the view steady. Gu Lang couldn’t help but glance a few times—she was indeed a goddess. Even in yoga pants and a tight sports bra, she was alluring enough to make a man’s thoughts wander, zombie or not.

Before he knew it, Gu Lang found himself reconsidering his stance on zombies.

So, Yu Qiuchi set out again.

This time, she headed straight for the supermarket, while Gu Lang watched through the video feed, walkie-talkie in hand as if tuning into a live broadcast.

The supermarket was crawling with zombies, scattered everywhere. Yu Qiuchi grabbed a shopping cart and began herding the zombies out. The wild zombies didn’t resist, letting her push them along. Clumsy as she was, the other zombies were no better, letting themselves be tossed out the doors like dead dogs.

Soon, the first floor was clear.

Then came the second. Yu Qiuchi pressed on tirelessly, and before long, the second floor was empty as well.

Throughout the process, Gu Lang gave instructions over the walkie-talkie, and Yu Qiuchi followed them dutifully.

After half a day, the entire mall was cleared of zombies, but a new problem emerged!

Yu Qiuchi’s intelligence was still lacking; even with Gu Lang’s guidance, some tasks were beyond her. For example—locking the mall’s doors!

No matter how many times Gu Lang gave instructions over the video feed, Yu Qiuchi just couldn’t do it. With the doors wide open, many zombies that had just been herded out began to wander back in. At this rate, a full day’s work would be ruined.

Gu Lang grew anxious, but couldn’t think of a solution for the moment. Intelligence was a hard limit. He couldn’t just boost her IQ, could he?

Wait! Maybe he could!

Suddenly, a new idea flashed through Gu Lang’s mind.
