Chapter 30: Infiltration!
“Hmph, that kid probably hasn’t even realized we’ve arrived here yet, has he?” After stepping out of the car, Qin Guosheng was even more excited than Lin Li had anticipated.
He’d been nursing a bellyful of pent-up anger with nowhere to release it, and at last, he’d found himself a reason to let it out.
“We’ve kept everything strictly confidential before coming here,” he said. “Even if Ye Aotian has eyes and ears everywhere, there’s no way he could know we’ve already pinpointed his location.”
As Lin Li spoke, he glanced at the group around him. The martial arts masters showed no sign of tension on their faces. Clearly, none of them truly understood who their opponent would be.
They quickly reached the outer perimeter of the villa. Qin Guosheng remained at the rear, not rushing to act. Lin Li, surveying the heavily guarded villa before them, turned to Qin Guosheng and said, “Boss, this is definitely the place. Ye Aotian has gathered all his forces here.”
Qin Guosheng nodded with satisfaction. “Excellent. Let’s begin. No need for mercy this time—since he’s so reckless, we might as well be ruthless ourselves.”
With Qin Guosheng’s command, the battle commenced.
Lin Li knew exactly how this fight would unfold. Qin Guosheng’s assumptions were naive; Lin Li was at the forefront, flanked by the others. Throughout the operation, Qin Guosheng kept a close watch, his two confidants at his side. Lin Li recognized them; they were Qin Guosheng’s most trusted men, even more so than himself.
But it would be foolish to think Qin Guosheng’s trust in them was borne of true affection. It was merely because Qin Guosheng held leverage over both. Lin Li, by contrast, stood alone. Most of Qin Guosheng’s schemes were meaningless to Lin Li, so no matter how hard he tried, he could never win his trust.
“Brother Lin, it seems your relationship with Boss Qin isn’t quite as ideal as it appears, is it?” a middle-aged man beside Lin Li remarked with a smile.
Lin Li glanced coolly at the square-faced man. “The boss’s business is my business. I’m ready to risk life and limb for it—what could be the issue? Let’s focus our attention on dealing with Ye Aotian.”
The villa’s defenses were formidable; ordinary people could never break in. But Lin Li had numbers on his side, and the guards at the perimeter barely had time to react before they were swiftly taken down. The group surged forward, overwhelming the villa’s inner guards before they could even resist. These men showed no mercy.
Though this was a collaboration between Lin Li and Leng Ningxue, all these guards were Ye Aotian’s men. Lin Li saw no reason to hold back.
Wang Dongpo had been brimming with confidence, mocking Lin Li earlier for the sake of amusement. Although Lin Li seemed close to Qin Guosheng, even Wang Dongpo could sense that Qin Guosheng was always wary of Lin Li. Having Lin Li lead the charge was no accident—Wang Dongpo knew what it meant, and surely Lin Li did too.
He’d expected Lin Li to be wounded quickly, but the outcome was startling; Lin Li displayed astonishing combat prowess.
The guards here were by no means weak. Those tasked with the villa’s security were all first-rate experts. Normally, even these martial artists would hesitate before confronting such adversaries.
The moment they engaged, the martial masters realized something was amiss—the guards were far too strong. These were Ye Aotian’s close protectors, brought here with Chen Along for the purpose of earning merit.
So when they found that someone had the audacity to target them, they fought with feverish intensity.
Qin Guosheng’s men had never encountered such resistance. Even these martial arts masters hadn’t expected a single villa to be such a tough nut to crack.
The perimeter guards, while formidable, were still somewhat different from the inner defenders. Soon enough, they had dealt with the outer guards and pressed onward. But at this stage, none of them had recognized the gravity of the situation.
Only after breaching the perimeter and entering the villa’s interior did they realize the problem.
“This isn’t right. There’s no way the Leng family could muster this kind of force.”
“Exactly. Every guard here is incredibly strong—they’re not ordinary bodyguards.”
“They seem more like trained martial artists. Have we been deceived?”
The martial arts masters paused, questioning everything. They’d come to take on Ye Aotian—Qin Guosheng had mentioned only a few martial artists. Yet, just at the villa’s edge, they had already faced over a dozen skilled fighters. They weren’t powerful, but not just anyone could convince such martial artists to do this kind of work.
From this alone, it was clear the mastermind behind this affair was formidable.
But having come this far, there was no turning back, no matter how uneasy they felt.
“Gentlemen,” Lin Li said, “I know you all have doubts, but now you’ve neutralized the outer guards—do you think you can simply leave? Since there’s no choice, we might as well see it through.”
Hearing Lin Li’s words, their eyes sharpened. He was right—they’d accepted favors, and now they couldn’t just walk away. Besides, even if the perimeter was guarded by martial artists, so what? At most, Ye Aotian was a wealthy man. Perhaps victory would come even easier.
“Brother Lin’s right. Let’s do it, boys!”
With Lin Li’s encouragement, their doubts dissipated, and they pressed deeper into the villa.
They failed to notice that Lin Li had silently slipped to the back of the group. Going further meant a direct confrontation with Ye Aotian. Lin Li knew Chen Along’s strength and had no wish to get entangled for too long.
Meanwhile, the martial artists had no time for such considerations now.
