Ning Yurou hadn’t expected Lin Li to leave either.

She glanced at Chen Yu. “Do you know this person?”

Chen Yu thought for a moment and replied, “I heard the young lady mention him once or twice, I vaguely remember, but I didn’t expect him to be such an odd character.”

“It was also him who contacted us to rescue the young lady.”

After regaining consciousness, Chen Yu had been searching for Leng Ningxue, but unfortunately, not a single clue could be found. When she was anxious and at a loss, a message from Lin Li finally let her breathe a sigh of relief. Following his reminder, she got in touch with Ning Yurou, and the two women arrived together, which set in motion the events that followed.

Originally, they had assumed Leng Ningxue had already suffered at the hands of someone, and their purpose here was merely to deal with the aftermath, making sure nothing terribly damaging resulted from the incident. But in all their calculations, they never anticipated that, even in such a perilous situation, Leng Ningxue would still remain untouched.

Ning Yurou pursed her lips. “I really suspect that guy has some issues in that department. If I were a man, your young lady’s child would already be running around by now.”

She muttered sourly.

Fortunately, Chen Yu could describe the symptoms from earlier, allowing Ning Yurou to glean some understanding of what had happened. Otherwise, rescuing Leng Ningxue would have been no easy feat.

Meanwhile, after leaving, Lin Li went straight to Jin Renfeng’s room.

As soon as he opened the door, a girl weighing more than two hundred pounds came toward him.

“Hey, big brother, everything’s been arranged just as you asked.”

Lin Li, now masked, nodded, handed her extra money, and sent her away.

On the bed, Jin Renfeng lay like a dead pig, his hands and feet bound to the bedposts, his whole body sprawled out, two streams of tears on his face—a clear indication of what had happened moments before.

Though Lin Li was in another room, his villain points were still increasing.

It seemed as long as he committed acts that didn’t directly involve people, he could accumulate villain points, even if his actions were, in their way, just.

Sitting down, he lit a cigarette and glanced at Jin Renfeng on the bed. “Mr. Jin, are you satisfied? It took me a lot of effort online to find such a heavyweight guest.”

Jin Renfeng nearly burst into tears, roaring, “Who are you? Who the hell are you?”

Lin Li snorted, picking up a vacuum camera from the side.

“Who I am isn’t important. What matters is that everything that just happened here has been recorded.”

“Of course, I’m very happy to keep this secret just as you will, but the prerequisite is that you behave and don’t spread tales about today. Understood?”

Jin Renfeng glared at Lin Li, his gaze fierce.

But, seeing the camera in Lin Li’s hand, he wilted.

“You’re really so generous?”

Lin Li nodded. “Of course. Your group’s partnership with the Leng family must continue. Trust me, when the new energy project is complete, you’ll thank me.”

With that, he turned and left, leaving Jin Renfeng alone, windblown and disheveled, cursing inwardly. Say what you must, but at least untie me. Damn, all I have is a small towel covering me. It’s getting cold.

An hour later, under Ning Yurou’s care, Leng Ningxue finally returned to normal.

The first thing she did upon waking was check her body.

Her memories of what happened before were vague.

“Don’t worry, you’re fine.”

“Lucky you met a guy who lacks that function. Otherwise, ha, your reputation as the pure and icy queen would have been ruined.”

Seeing Ning Yurou, Leng Ningxue finally relaxed, letting out a breath. “Yurou, why are you here?”

“Where’s that man?”

Ning Yurou smiled. “He left. He called me to rescue you, and as soon as I arrived, he disappeared.”

Leng Ningxue froze.

Gone… Vanished?

That man brought her here only to do all this?

What did he really want? What kind of existence was she in his eyes?

Leng Ningxue couldn’t understand.

She had thought Lin Li wanted to possess her, but it turned out he had no such intention. All this time, his attitude remained unchanged—he would take advantage, but never truly cross the line.

Ning Yurou looked at Leng Ningxue, a bit surprised. “Hey, what’s with you? Shouldn’t you be happy now? Don’t tell me you actually want to give that man your innocence?”

Leng Ningxue fell silent.

Now Ning Yurou had a headache. Where was her backbone?

Wasn’t she the proud and icy queen before? How could she now be so willing to give herself away?

What kind of man was he, to have such an effect?

“Yurou, I hope you can keep today’s events, including that man, a secret for me.”

Ning Yurou snorted. “Alright, alright, I get it.”

“But let me tell you, that man is no ordinary person.”

“Either he’s incapable, or he’s not here for your body. Most likely, he’s deliberately keeping you hanging. His real target is probably the Leng family.”

Leng Ningxue nodded, seeming not to care. “Yurou, don’t worry. I know exactly what I’m doing.”

“I’ll handle this matter well.”

Ning Yurou snorted. “You’d better. Just days ago, you were bragging to me about hiring a bodyguard named Ye Aotian, supposedly unbeatable.”

“Damn, but he’s nowhere near enough. You got captured and dragged here. Where’s your bodyguard?”

Leng Ningxue’s expression turned awkward. Mentioning Ye Aotian now only made her angry.

Fool, fool.

He can’t even distinguish priorities!

Lin Li met Qin Lang at Jiangcheng First People’s Hospital.

Both legs were shattered, and even the best medical technology might not be able to repair them—unless Ye Aotian or Ning Yurou intervened personally.

But would they?

Unlikely.

Elsewhere, things didn’t turn out well either. Apparently, Ye Aotian had beaten Qin Lang badly, leaving him bruised and swollen.

At that point, Qin Lang could still move.

But then, something happened, and Ye Aotian returned.

This time, Qin Lang was barely clinging to life.

When Lin Li arrived at the hospital, Qin Lang was still in the ICU, and according to the doctor, there was not a single part of his body uninjured.

Lin Li found it amusing. Clearly, Ye Aotian had been thoroughly provoked.

Pity poor Qin Lang—after this ordeal, he’d likely never stand again.
