Chapter Twenty-One: Struck by Her Own Husband
In the dead of night, Fang Zhiyin quietly climbed out of bed. She truly couldn’t stand the misery of six people sharing a single room… Could Ouyang Junyan really tolerate it?
After leaving the girls’ dormitory, Fang Zhiyin vaguely remembered seeing a sofa in the hall when she entered. She thought it would be better to just spend the night on the sofa—after all, there were only a few hours left until dawn.
As she sat down, she felt a softness beneath her… and then, a gust of wind struck her face.
“Ah!!”
The next second, Fang Zhiyin was punched by a stranger?!
“Who are you!!” she shouted angrily, which woke up everyone in the bedrooms. Someone turned on the living room lights, and Fang Zhiyin finally saw the person who had just punched her—it was Ouyang Junyan?
Ouyang Junyan, dressed in a white tank top and beach shorts, looked boyish and tousled. He had also been forced out of the boys’ dorm by the relentless snoring, ending up on the living room sofa. Fang Zhiyin hadn’t noticed, sat right on him, startled him awake, and he reflexively threw his fist.
“Sis?!” Ouyang Junyan snapped awake. “Why are you at this hostel too?!”
Aggrieved—utterly aggrieved! From childhood until now, aside from constantly running into walls with Ouyang Junyan, Fang Zhiyin had never suffered such indignity. This man was her rightful husband! And now, without rhyme or reason, he’d punched her.
Luckily, she didn’t get a nosebleed, but the pain was real, and her tears nearly spilled over. Fang Zhiyin forced herself to endure.
“Sis!” Lin Nana called, “Why did you come out here?”
Fang Zhiyin gritted her teeth, glaring at Ouyang Junyan, hoping for some comfort from him.
“Are you alright?” But it was Lin Nana who came to soothe her.
“I’m fine!” Fang Zhiyin reminded herself she was no longer a child—how could she show weakness in front of college students? Yes, Ouyang Junyan counted as one now too! “Let’s go back to bed!”
Reluctantly, she returned to the dormitory, but sleep evaded her until dawn.
Early the next day—
Fang Zhiyin was awakened by Lin Nana’s phone ringing. She had only fallen asleep just before sunrise, so she was naturally unwilling to get up.
Meanwhile, Lin Nana was already out of bed. Sensing something, she quickly pulled open the curtains and was greeted by bright sunshine and a dazzling view outside.
After drawing the curtains, the brilliant sunlight exposed Fang Zhiyin, still lying in bed.
For a moment, Lin Nana forgot about Fang Zhiyin, unable to contain her joy, but then remembered the others in the room, and ran out to find Ouyang Junyan—only to bump into him at the door.
“Nana! Did you see? The sun’s out! The sun’s out!” Ouyang Junyan was just as excited.
Lin Nana smiled gently, “What a coincidence! I was just about to look for you!”
At that moment, the conversation outside was crystal clear, and Fang Zhiyin swiftly got up, dressed, washed, and prepared to join the two young people for a day by the sea.
What a predicament…
“Are you ready?” After a while, Ouyang Junyan cautiously asked Lin Nana.
“Yes, I’m ready!”
“Then let’s go play at the beach!”
The two youths left the hostel, brimming with happiness.
Fang Zhiyin quickly followed.
The weather was truly beautiful today!
The blue sea looked calm, but the golden sunlight created a shimmering silk across the water, sparkling with dazzling ripples that captivated the eye.
The two soon arrived at the beach where they’d eaten barbecue the night before. It was still early, with few people around, giving them the illusion that the entire beach belonged to them.
Lin Nana was spellbound, her radiant smile so beautiful that Ouyang Junyan was left staring, dazed.
Lin Nana was too lovely! He cheered inwardly, his face burning red.
The sunlit beach before them was indescribably beautiful.
Lin Nana had no idea what Ouyang was thinking—she simply acted like the other tourists, taking out her phone to snap endless photos, then switched to selfie mode, taking picture after picture.
Ouyang Junyan, watching her enjoy herself, couldn’t help but pull out his own phone, open the camera, and press record.
After a while, Lin Nana noticed he was filming her from behind, “Ouyang!” She put down her phone, jumped up and waved at him, her cheeks tinged with pink. “Why didn’t you come over? How long have you been hiding behind me, recording?”
Off to the side, Fang Zhiyin watched in amazement.
These two… in this moment, this second, truly looked like a scene from a romance drama.
Perhaps she really was the so-called “third wheel”…
Meanwhile, the drama continued.
Seeing the girl before him shining so brightly, Ouyang Junyan was like a boy newly awakened to love, his cheeks flushed, unable to meet Lin Nana’s gaze.
He wondered—how could such a wonderful girl stand beside him?
“Nana, thank you! Let me take a few pictures of you!” Ouyang Junyan couldn’t help but praise her, continuing to take photos. “You look great right now.” He struggled to restrain his urge to shower her with compliments, trying to keep it low-key.
“Really?” Lin Nana, clueless, turned to smile at him, posing with all kinds of beautiful, lively expressions.
Fang Zhiyin thought, perhaps at this moment, Ouyang Junyan was truly happy. Quietly, she lifted her phone and filmed a short video of them.
Through Fang Zhiyin’s lens, these two were so youthful and vivacious, grinning at each other, watching the sea, taking photos together.
Simple, yet joyful.
But Fang Zhiyin’s heart was a swirl of emotions.
After seeing the sea, the two young people headed back to S University. Naturally, Fang Zhiyin appeared right as they approached the gates.
“Sis!” Lin Nana called out to her.
“You!” Ouyang Junyan was still annoyed to see Fang Zhiyin trailing them, but quickly noticed her swollen nose, remembered the punch last night, and changed his tone. “Ahem, does your nose still hurt?”
“What do you think?” Fang Zhiyin shot him a glare. “I’m not here for you, I have something to say to Nana.”
“Huh?” Lin Nana blinked her big eyes, “Really, you’re here for me?”
“Do you have time now? Can we talk alone for a moment?”
“Hey! What could you say that I can’t hear?” Ouyang Junyan protested.
“You’re a guy! Why would you listen to girls’ secrets?” she retorted.
“Oh…”
With Ouyang Junyan watching anxiously, the two girls walked a short distance away to speak in private…
