Chapter Twenty: Sharing a Hostel Bunk?
The Ouyang Junyan before her... which one was he? Chen Linlin was utterly bewildered. "Ouyang?"
"I asked you, which one are you?" After asking this, Ouyang Junyan noticed the stupefied Fang Zhiyin standing nearby. "Big sis, why are you here too?"
Oh! This was the eighteen-year-old Ouyang Junyan!
"You, come outside with me!" Fang Zhiyin shot Chen Linlin a "have a good rest" look, then dragged the confused Ouyang Junyan out of the hospital room.
The hospital corridor was silent and still in the night.
Eighteen-year-old Ouyang Junyan looked at Fang Zhiyin. "What's wrong with me? Am I sick or...?" He paused, then hurriedly asked, "That big sis in the ward—who is she? Do I know her?"
"She... the person inside is a young star..."
"When did I ever meet any celebrities?" Ouyang Junyan shook his head repeatedly. "Are you messing with me behind my back?"
"You're accusing me again!"
Whenever a different personality returned to Ouyang Junyan's body, there was no way they could remember what the previous personality had experienced or done. Fang Zhiyin never knew how to explain it, and every time she felt exhausted.
When would this kind of life ever end...
"Ah!" Suddenly, Ouyang Junyan cried out. "What time is it?! I have a date!"
What?!
A date?!
One Ouyang Junyan was chasing idols, another wanted to go on a date?
Good heavens! You truly delight in playing tricks on me! Fang Zhiyin roared inwardly.
"Who are you meeting?" Fang Zhiyin asked, flustered.
"With Nana!"
Lin Nana?
"Are you sure?" Fang Zhiyin pressed.
"How could I be wrong! She was the one who asked me out!" Ouyang Junyan quickly pushed past Fang Zhiyin, who was blocking him. "I'm going to find her!"
Fang Zhiyin was caught off guard and slammed into the hospital's white wall with half her body.
Pain.
Intense pain.
For a moment, Fang Zhiyin's nose stung and she had no idea why she was here, why she had to be so humble.
Ouyang Junyan was nearly out of the corridor when, for some reason, he paused and looked back. Seeing Fang Zhiyin pressed against the wall, guilt flashed through him, and he quickly returned. "Big sis, are you okay?"
Big sis...
Fang Zhiyin couldn't help but laugh and cry. "I'm fine. Not dead yet."
"Then... then I'm going." Ouyang Junyan's gaze flickered, clearly aware that he'd pushed a little too hard just now.
"Oh," Fang Zhiyin replied coldly.
She really wanted to just go home and sleep!
But... she still followed.
After all, she was the only one in this world who knew Ouyang Junyan was ill! Oh, not the only one—there was also his doctor...
Who would have thought Lin Nana would ask Ouyang Junyan to go see the sea so late at night.
When Ouyang Junyan arrived at the shore, Lin Nana had already been waiting for a while. He looked apologetic, repeatedly saying, "Sorry, sorry!"
Fang Zhiyin hid herself three meters away, blending into the shadows among the vague figures on the beach, so well that no one noticed her.
Most importantly, Ouyang Junyan never imagined she would follow.
To show his sincerity and apologize, Ouyang Junyan first asked Lin Nana if she was hungry, then ran to a nearby barbecue stall, ordered heaps of food, and bought a big cola.
The stall owner worked quickly, and soon everything was ready. Ouyang Junyan carried several packed boxes back to Lin Nana.
"Nana! Have something to eat!" he said cautiously.
Fang Zhiyin, watching from the side, was stunned. The eighteen-year-old Ouyang was so innocent...
"What would you like? I'll get it for you," Ouyang Junyan asked Lin Nana enthusiastically.
The two walked slowly to the seaside.
"It's such a shame, it's pitch black and you can't see anything," Lin Nana said regretfully.
"It's all my fault for being late! How about... we come back tomorrow morning and see it together?" Ouyang Junyan suggested.
"Huh? Come again?" Lin Nana found it inconvenient. "It's a bit far from where we live."
"We could just stay nearby tonight," he blurted out.
Both of them froze.
Not to mention them, Fang Zhiyin, eavesdropping nearby, was also dumbfounded. What was Ouyang Junyan thinking?!
He himself was immediately regretful—what was he saying, how could he utter something so flippant?
"There's a youth hostel nearby," Lin Nana unexpectedly offered him a way out. "You can sleep in the men's room, I'll sleep in the women's room. Tomorrow we'll come see the sea, then go back together. That's a good idea!"
...Is it?
"Ouyang, you've never stayed at a youth hostel, have you?" Lin Nana looked at the embarrassed Ouyang Junyan with wide eyes.
"I don't think I have."
"Then why not try it?" Lin Nana invited him.
People say 'spur of the moment' is about traveling, but for these two, it meant staying at a youth hostel!
It was very late. The two arrived at the hostel and each booked a bed to rest.
Fang Zhiyin followed to the hostel's entrance, neither able to go in nor return home.
For a moment, she was at a loss.
Unexpectedly, after a while, Lin Nana came out. "Good evening, sister."
"You... you saw me just now?" Fang Zhiyin was surprised by Lin Nana's initiative.
"Of course!"
"And Ouyang..."
"He probably didn't see you," Lin Nana said gently. "Sister, it's late. Don't worry too much, go home and rest."
How could she not worry?
Unless the real, twenty-eight-year-old Ouyang Junyan returned... Actually, even if his true self came back, she couldn't be completely at ease.
In a way, Fang Zhiyin felt she'd become Ouyang's mother—watching over every detail, unable to leave, for fear something might happen if she turned away.
She worried herself sick!
"No! I'm staying with you!" She grabbed Lin Nana and entered the hostel, asking the receptionist for a bed.
...It was Fang Zhiyin's first time staying in a youth hostel too.
Lin Nana was dumbfounded. "Sister, are you sure you want a bed?" She thought Fang Zhiyin was truly eccentric. "It'll be noisy at night!"
"That’s fine! If I sleep in the same room as you, I’ll be at ease!" Sharing a room with Lin Nana made it easier to observe whether she would leave in the middle of the night to find Ouyang Junyan.
It was late. Fang Zhiyin hesitated about whether to loiter outside the men's dorm, but Lin Nana dragged her back to the women's dorm to sleep.
Of course, she couldn’t sleep.
Six people sharing a room, snoring echoed one after another.
Fang Zhiyin was shocked—she never knew girls could snore so loudly! And she realized she'd been overthinking; after Lin Nana lay down, she fell asleep immediately, never leaving the room.
Unable to sleep, Fang Zhiyin clutched the soft hostel pillow over her ears, her expression agonized. "Ouyang Junyan, I've really gone above and beyond for you..."
