Seeing Wang Yu’s mischievous expression, it was clear that the two, uncle and nephew, had stumbled into the room without overhearing Mo Shu and Wang Yining’s conversation about the system.

“System, what’s your take on this?” Mo Shu asked tentatively, locking the door behind him.

“The entity in Wang Yining’s mind is one of my kin,” the system replied, its voice noticeably unsettled.

“So that’s it. You once said you wandered for ten thousand years with the meteorite—does that mean you haven’t seen your kin in all that time?” Mo Shu’s memory was surprisingly sharp.

The system sighed. “The story is long. Frankly, your species doesn’t yet possess the knowledge to fully grasp it. I’ll tell you, bit by bit, in the future.”

“Did you know this kin before? Are you happy to meet again? Why did you wander? Do you…” Mo Shu’s curiosity overflowed, and a torrent of questions tumbled from his mind.

Another sigh. The system spoke, heavy-hearted: “Our homeland was destroyed ten thousand years ago. I believed myself to be the sole survivor. To encounter another after all this time… My emotions are tangled. I need to speak with my kin.”

“Oh, alright,” Mo Shu said with some disappointment, unable to resist another question: “Do you need us humans to help you communicate?”

“No need. We converse through psychic power.”

Mo Shu nodded, regret etched across his face.

Wang Yining, exhausted from crying, was half-reclined on the sofa, staring at the ceiling, her face drained. Girls often fussed over clothes, shoes, bags—these otherworldly things must have pushed her nerves to the brink.

Since the male system appeared yesterday, nearly twenty hours had passed. She’d worried herself into mental exhaustion, and only after Mo Shu’s arrival did she finally begin to relax.

Mo Shu felt a pang of sympathy. He offered Wang Yining a comforting smile, took a blanket from the cabinet, and gently covered her.

“Mo Shu, thank you for believing me…” Wang Yining’s voice quivered again.

“It’s nothing. Why don’t you rest here for a while? I promise I won’t try anything inappropriate.”

“Mm, I don’t want to be alone either.”

“Alright, I’ll sit nearby and read a novel. Is that okay?” Mo Shu’s tenderness made even himself feel a little embarrassed.

“Mm, don’t leave!” Wang Yining emphasized.

“Don’t worry.”

Moments after closing her eyes, Wang Yining drifted into sleep.

Mo Shu carefully tucked the blanket around her, then fetched a book and settled into the rocking chair.

“Ding~~~”

It seemed the system was about to contact him again.

“Host, please accept the new series task (1/2):

Series Task 1: Accompany Wang Yining to the North Ring Overpass Bridge in Shangyang City.

Completing the series will reward you with a new skill: Eagle Eye Analysis.

This task is timed: four hours limit.”

Go to Shangyang? Mo Shu pulled out his phone and checked the route with his navigation app.

Shangyang was the capital of the neighboring province, nearly six hundred kilometers from Nanshan City by car. Four hours—how could they possibly make it? He’d likely fail the task before even reaching the destination.

Mo Shu, troubled, gently woke Wang Yining to ask for her help.

Wang Yining squinted, thinking for a moment, then exclaimed excitedly, “Ah, I almost forgot! A newly built expressway just opened between the two cities—navigation hasn’t updated the maps yet. We’ll take that route!”

With that, Wang Yining grabbed her coat and rushed downstairs.

Mo Shu chased after her, calling, “Expressways usually have a 120 km/h speed limit—do we have to speed? I don’t want to break the law!”

Wang Yining didn’t look back. “This expressway is unique. Designed and built by our country, modeled after Germany’s, it has no speed limit!”

Mo Shu was thrilled. No speed limit—what a marvel! He could legally drive at top speed.

Both climbed into Mo Shu’s pure white RT500. He’d never had a chance to test its limits; this was a golden opportunity.

After refueling, they entered the expressway toll station. Mo Shu immediately noticed the conspicuous minimum speed sign: “Minimum speed: 100 km/h.”

“Haha, is this crazy or what?” Mo Shu accelerated hard on the ramp.

The main road was nearly empty, yet Mo Shu prudently accelerated on the long auxiliary road, carefully checking behind before merging the RT500 onto the main lane.

He glanced at the speedometer—the needle pointed at 260 km/h and was still climbing.

Such a supercar—its performance was truly exceptional! Mo Shu silently marveled.

On race tracks, Mo Shu and Wang Yining rarely reached 260 km/h—partly because the tracks were crowded and full of sharp turns, and partly because touring car races had strict rules limiting vehicle performance.

Just two hours later, the two had crossed into the territory of Shangyang City, and that included a stop to refuel a full tank.

“Cruising at 320 km/h—extraordinary!” Mo Shu slapped the steering wheel in delight.

“Ding~~~

“Congratulations, host, on completing Series Task 1.

Series Task 2: Retrieve the metal sphere atop the lightning rod on the North Ring Overpass Bridge Tower.

Completing the series will reward you with a new skill: Eagle Eye Analysis.

Time remaining: 1 hour 15 minutes.”

Mo Shu and Wang Yining had to linger in the bridge’s emergency lane for a moment, first needing to locate the metal sphere atop the lightning rod and figure out exactly what it was.

The North Ring Overpass Bridge had a single-tower cable-stayed design. Fortunately, with only one tower, it was easy to spot, but the tower soared nearly a hundred meters high.

“Mo Shu, I think I see it—a pale violet spot of light at the tower’s tip. That must be the metal sphere.”

“But how do we get up there?” The two began to worry.

Climbing? Too terrifying. They had no way to ensure their safety.

Time ticked away. Speed wasn’t an obstacle, but height unexpectedly became their adversary.

Mo Shu paced and observed. He noticed that, from one side of the main tower, the cross-section resembled the curved ramp of a U-shaped skate park.

A spark flashed in Mo Shu’s mind. He called, “Wang Yining, get in the car!”

Wang Yining jumped in, buckling her seatbelt across her chest.

“What are you trying to do?” she asked.

“I’m taking you on a wild ride!”

“Alright!”

Mo Shu glanced at Wang Yining’s expectant face—she really was his kind of person.

The pure white RT500 roared to life, its engine sounding feral, the unique ceramic exhaust notes seductive and stirring. Mo Shu lowered the window, and the rush of air whipped Wang Yining’s beautiful hair skyward.

“When we’re airborne, I’ll control the car—you grab the metal sphere!” Mo Shu shouted above the wind.

Wang Yining confidently gave a thumbs-up.

“Leave it to me!”
