Chapter 111: Big Brother Has Become a Lyricist
“Brother, I’ve just landed. Where are you now?” Wen Peiyan’s call came through barely minutes after Su Tong and Li Wen arrived at the airport.
“Ha ha, I came with a friend to pick you up. We’re heading toward the exit now, should be there soon. Peiyan, are you at the exit yet?” Su Tong, trailing behind Li Wen, made his way toward the airport exit, unfamiliar with the route.
Li Wen, accustomed to traveling by plane during every winter and summer holiday, knew the way well.
Su Tong was always kind to his fans, and Li Wen felt no jealousy at all. On the contrary, she was proud—if only he were her boyfriend, she could show him off with such pride.
At the airport exit, a little girl, dressed in colorful sneakers, carrying a small bag and pulling a tiny suitcase, stood on tiptoe, eagerly awaiting.
When Su Tong and Li Wen reached the exit, Su Tong called Wen Peiyan.
“Hey, Peiyan, sorry, I’m here now. What are you wearing?” Su Tong asked, glancing around as he spoke.
“Hee hee…” Before Su Tong could finish looking around, Wen Peiyan approached, phone in hand, excitedly exclaiming, “Wow, you must be my brother! You’re even more handsome than on your livestream.”
Though Wen Peiyan was a southern girl, her good genes and proper nutrition made her nearly as tall as Li Wen, who was close to 1.7 meters. Su Tong estimated her height at about 1.68 meters.
Li Wen was also surprised to see Wen Peiyan—southern girls truly are delicate and slender.
Wen Peiyan’s face was a classic oval shape, somewhat reminiscent of a young Fan Bingbing, but far slimmer. Wearing short denim shorts, her long, slender legs made her appear taller than Li Wen at first glance.
“Why are you so thin?” Su Tong wasn’t stunned by her beauty but rather felt a pang of concern. She probably weighed less than 90 pounds.
His words touched Wen Peiyan deeply. Many people, upon first meeting her or seeing her photos, would compliment her looks, but Su Tong was different.
Other fans had either already arrived at the hotel or were en route. Su Tong and Li Wen accompanied Wen Peiyan to the development zone to check into a hotel they had booked for six people.
The group of six were the most devoted among the “Nian Nu Jiao” fanbase—four women and two men.
Among them was another student like Wen Peiyan, though attending university.
The other four were already working, including children of officials and wealthy families.
Su Tong had already reviewed them the night before. These six all had fan values in the millions at the show, with one girl’s fan value reaching tens of millions during the “Coiling Dragon” event.
She was the legendary “Peerless” of League of Legends.
Su Tong had some impression of her—she was a female fan who had once publicly invited him out.
The Peerless beauty had just graduated this year. After some conversation, Su Tong only knew that her family ran a company; he did not ask for more details.
“Host, excellent. These fans can become your future collaborators. Your grand ambition requires not only a vast volume of work but also unimaginable funds. You must cultivate relationships with your contacts strategically.”
Though bold online, the Peerless beauty was quite reserved when meeting Su Tong in person. During their after-dinner chat, she tried several times to invite him to her room later but never dared to ask outright.
Among these six fans, aside from Wen Peiyan who was one year younger than Su Tong, the youngest was still two years his senior.
One entrepreneurial, strong-willed girl from the northeastern ice city was quite fierce and even boldly tried to steal a kiss from Su Tong. He didn’t oblige, only giving a hug.
Li Wen found herself puzzled. When Su Tong and her best friend Gao Litong showed even slight intimacy, she would go crazy. Yet seeing Su Tong so close with fans, she felt excited instead.
After much thought, she reasoned it was pride—proud because Su Tong’s brilliance made her glow with pride.
After nearly an hour of chatting, Su Tong checked the time. It was almost 8:30 pm. After arranging to swim with everyone at the beach the next afternoon, he and Li Wen prepared to say goodbye and head home.
Before leaving, Wen Peiyan asked Su Tong to sign a few autographs first. She had a mission: classmates who knew she was meeting Su Tong each begged for his signature.
Excitedly, Wen Peiyan pulled out over a dozen small notebooks from her bag. Not long ago, Su Tong had signed a poem for Shi Jiaqin, and after seeing it online, Wen Peiyan still envied her.
“Brother, could you write the poem ‘Facing the Sea, with Spring Blossoms’ for me? Your handwriting is so beautiful,” Wen Peiyan said, eyes full of hope.
“Ha ha, are you sure you want that poem?” Su Tong smiled.
“Yeah, yeah.” Wen Peiyan nodded eagerly, like a little chick pecking at grain. Not only was the poem lovely, but the handwriting was exquisite, and most importantly, it was Su Tong’s own.
Su Tong hesitated. “I have another, very bold lyric that I think suits you better. If you don’t want it, never mind.”
What?
Not only Wen Peiyan was taken aback, but the other fans, including Li Wen, were suddenly enthusiastic, clamoring for signatures and new poems.
Su Tong had rewritten lyrics again?
“I want it, I want the new lyric!” Wen Peiyan blinked wide-eyed, looking at Su Tong with touching innocence.
Su Tong laughed heartily and picked up his pen.
“Nian Nu Jiao: Reminiscing at Red Cliffs.”
Upon seeing those words, everyone was astonished. There was no such tune name as “Nian Nu Jiao” in this world, nor Su Dongpo’s famous “Reminiscing at Red Cliffs.”
Was Su Tong creating a new tune under his own stage name?
“The great river flows eastward,
Sweeping away countless heroes of ancient times.”
The moment he wrote these three lines, everyone was stunned. None present were illiterate; otherwise, they wouldn’t have loved “Nian Nu Jiao” so much.
They admired not only Su Tong’s livestream stories but also his talent and literary skill.
“Reminiscing at Red Cliffs” begins with vivid imagery and emotion, spanning time from ancient to modern, depicting the majestic Yangtze River rushing eastward. From space to time, it laments how many once-great heroes have been washed away by relentless waves. The atmosphere was vast, profound, spirited, and grand.
“The old fortress to the west,
Is said to be the Red Cliff of Zhou Lang in the Three Kingdoms.
Jagged rocks pierce the sky,
Waves crash against the shore,
Rolling up a thousand heaps of snow.
The landscape like a painting,
How many heroes in that moment!”
The thunder of galloping horses and the breathtaking peril unfolded before their eyes, only to be suddenly pulled back to reality, evoking profound reflection.
“Recalling Gongjin of old,
When Xiao Qiao was newly wed,
Dashing and heroic.
With feather fan and silk kerchief,
In jest and laughter,
The fierce invaders turned to ashes and smoke.”
Zhou Yu’s youthful charm, talent, and strategic command were vividly portrayed here.
“Wandering through the old nation in spirit,
Sentimental, I laugh at myself,
For growing gray too soon.
Life is but a dream,
Let me offer a toast to the river moon.”
From history back to the present, from remembrance to feeling. Life is but a fleeting dream; rather than lament, offer a cup of wine to the moon over the river, and drink deeply.
When Su Tong finished writing, everyone was utterly stunned. Wen Peiyan’s rosy cheeks glowed with excitement; she was speechless, completely enchanted—this was a lyric her brother had written for her.
