Chapter Twenty-Seven: Heaven of Saints and Demons!
The silver-haired youth wore a serene smile. He extended his alabaster hand, gathering energy until a white longsword took shape, runes swirling around it. With a gentle wave toward the giant hand, the sword’s aura surged, slicing across thirty thousand miles, shattering the void.
Clang!
The sword aura struck the golden hand, shaking the void. At the point of collision, countless runes were destroyed and reborn, shockwaves spreading and clearing the heavens and earth.
The giant hand was forced to abandon its suppression of the two figures below, devoting all its power to countering the sword aura.
Since the silver-haired youth had come in person, he still held back some strength, and now he spoke to the two robed figures:
“How could I let you be suppressed? Continue!”
“Yes!”
The two figures felt the oppressive force disappear from around them, their bodies lightening, and they continued to guide the black needles forward.
The golden hand flared with energy, divine light flickering, forming a fist. A counterforce shattered the sword aura.
From within the rift, a sound like ancient thunder rumbled forth.
“Sage Demon? It’s you! How did you smuggle yourself into the Nine Provinces?”
The old warrior clearly recognized the silver-haired youth.
The Sage Demon smiled softly, holy light surging, flowers blooming in the void.
“Zhou Zhan, the Nine Provinces are my home. How can returning home be called smuggling?”
He called Zhou Zhan by name, clearly an old acquaintance.
“Are you sick again? Why attack the Zhou family?” Zhou Zhan pressed.
“Why do you speak so unpleasantly? What’s wrong with attacking your Zhou family? Bite me if you can!” The Sage Demon frowned, clearly displeased.
“Let your other personality speak with me!” Zhou Zhan’s voice grew heavier.
“If he comes out just because you ask, wouldn’t that make me lose face?” The Sage Demon rolled his eyes.
Zhou Zhan clearly didn’t want to converse further. The golden giant hand gathered energy, runes as thick as mountain ranges winding around it, golden thunder evolving in the palm. Forming a fist, it grasped a golden thunder spear stretching ten thousand miles, shattering the void with its power.
“Judgment!”
With a shout, the golden thunder spear pierced the heavens, imbued with immense power to suppress evil, rushing straight at the Sage Demon.
The Sage Demon sensed the sealing force in the void and narrowed his eyes. As a Sage, his energy was more suited for support than direct attack.
A soft sigh escaped him. A trace of demonic energy emerged from the pure holy light, followed by boundless demonic aura, countless wailing souls, and an ear-splitting demonic cacophony.
“Haha, I didn’t expect to meet an old friend so soon!”
The Demon laughed loudly, billowing demonic energy gathering, and a pitch-black halberd appeared in his hand, about ten feet tall, its dark glow mesmerizing.
“Demon War Across Eight Directions!”
A towering demonic shadow rose behind him, standing upright and nearly ten thousand feet tall, its face obscured, wielding a matching gigantic halberd.
As the colossal halberd swung, it met the thunder spear. Halberd tip and spear tip collided—supreme light against supreme darkness, the greatest sound fading into silence. The sky shattered like a spiderweb, space storms raged, but the powers generated by the clash tore them apart.
Below, the two black-robed figures trembled, terrified the aftermath would engulf them.
The black needle had begun to corrode Zhou Tian’s guardian dragon. The golden dragon was half black, half gold, its eyes occasionally flashing with struggle. Although the dragon’s fortune had been multiplied dozens of times, the black needle had grown stronger as well. The formation had only increased tenfold, but the black needle’s power far surpassed that, not to mention the two figures had added their own secret enhancements.
“Zhou Zhan, if you were here in person, I could still battle you evenly. But merely using the Sky Searching Formation to fight across such distance, you won’t prevail!”
As the shockwaves subsided, a colossal crater appeared, ten thousand miles in diameter. The space within shattered repeatedly; after such a collision, it had become so fragile that nothing would grow here for a thousand years.
In the ancestral lands of the Zhou clan, Zhou Zhan’s expression was dark. He had miscalculated—what he thought was a hidden enemy from the Tianqin Empire turned out to be the old Sage Demon meddling behind the scenes.
The old man was right: without descending in person, mere projection could not contend with him.
“Is the teleportation array ready?”
Zhou Zhan demanded.
“The distance is too great, and interference formations have been placed nearby. It’ll take a while to lock on!”
The news from the void was not promising.
Sensing the black needles inching ever closer to Zhou Tian below, Zhou Zhan gritted his teeth.
“Prepare the projection array!”
“Elder Zhan! The projection array is inside the Nine Provinces…”
The voice from the void was urgent.
“I said, prepare the projection array!”
He cut off the speaker before they could finish.
“Yes!”
Five golden eyes appeared in the void, smaller than before, joining the original to form a larger eye radiating a soft golden glow. It enveloped Zhou Zhan, making his body translucent.
Elsewhere, the golden hand vanished. The golden giant eye in the sky emitted a golden ray, from which a man stepped out—a silver-haired middle-aged man, Zhou Zhan himself.
“Zhou Zhan, is he your illegitimate son? Using the projection array inside the Nine Provinces? Are you courting death?”
The Demon addressed Zhou Zhan.
“Hmph! The lives of Zhou clan members are not yours to take!”
Zhou Zhan surged with energy, thunder spear in hand, tearing through space toward the Demon.
“Come, come!”
The Demon’s fighting spirit soared, demonic wings unfurling from his back, gripping the halberd as he engaged Zhou Zhan.
Demonic flames billowed, thunder roared, the sky split into countless fissures, the earth shattered, and chasms ten thousand miles deep formed.
The thunder spear forced back the black halberd. Zhou Zhan’s form suddenly blurred, prompting the Demon to laugh.
“Haha, the internal formations of the Nine Provinces were built by your alliance—the backlash is not pleasant, is it?”
Zhou Zhan’s gaze flickered, the backlash intensifying. He could not drag this out.
Boom!
Boundless thunder erupted from Zhou Zhan, purple lightning with destructive power, silver lightning faster than space itself, golden lightning with unmatched power to suppress evil, all forming a sea of thunder.
Thunder swirled around Zhou Zhan, as if he were an ancient thunder god commanding all storms.
“Thunder Dao Extinguishes Heaven!”
With a mighty shout, the sea of thunder covered thousands of miles, mighty bolts churning within, brewing terrifying destructive force.
“This old man has grown stronger again!”
The Demon’s expression was grave as the sea of thunder surged toward him.
“However…”
“I am…”
“No weaker!”
The Sage Demon’s face twisted into a bizarre spectacle—half light, half darkness.
“Sage Demon as One with Heaven!”
The Sage Demon seemed almost mad, his face wild, both personalities vying for control. Even he struggled with the contradiction.
A mysterious energy appeared, drifting and unstable, its aura uncertain, slowly circling the Sage Demon’s body.
