Chapter Sixty-Five: Suddenly Famous Again Without Even Noticing
“Holy crap!” Father Qin never expected that there would be such a crowd outside the door.
Not just at the entrance—even the stairways above and below were packed with people. Heads pressed together in a dense mass, not a single gap in sight.
From outside, someone called out with a smile, “Open up, Old Qin! Why aren’t you opening the door?”
Wiping the cold sweat from his forehead, Father Qin asked, “Why have so many of you come to my house?”
“Old Qin, we mean no harm. We just want to see your son-in-law and have him look at our ailments. We’re all neighbors here—surely you won’t turn us away?”
Father Qin replied irritably, “But did you have to bring so many people? What is this, a robbery?”
“No, no, we were just afraid your son-in-law might leave. You know how rare it is to find a miracle doctor these days. Now that we’ve finally met someone as skilled as your son-in-law, we had to hurry over before he slips away. If he leaves, we’d be in trouble, wouldn’t we?”
“No way, no way! He can’t treat anyone! He doesn’t have a medical license. If any of you secretly report him, he’ll end up in jail. In any case, he won’t be seeing any patients. You’d all better leave now.” Speaking as he walked back inside, Father Qin frowned and said, “This is trouble. All the neighbors from the community are outside, wanting Xiao Fan to treat them.”
Mother Qin exclaimed in worry, “What are we going to do? With so many people blocking the way, won’t they delay Xiao Fan?”
Qin Nuanxin, having eaten too much, lay sprawled on the sofa, her little fists clenched in frustration, grinding her teeth. “These people are just too much! Even if my brother-in-law is a miracle doctor, he doesn’t owe them anything—why should he treat them?”
Qin Nuanyu shot her a glare. “You’ve got a lot of nerve saying that! If you hadn’t started that livestream and exposed your brother-in-law’s medical skills, how would so many people know about him? Why do you think he’s so famous now?”
Qin Nuanxin stuck out her tongue and, with a sly turn, pretended to fall asleep.
Mother Qin’s worry had not abated. “There’s no use blaming anyone now. What matters is finding a way to resolve this.”
Yang Xiaofan walked to the window. Looking down, he saw the crowd below—so many people had gathered in hopes of seeing him. Clearly, leaving by normal means was now out of the question.
He frowned, thinking for a moment, then said, “How about this: I’ll leave through the window. Once they see me gone, they shouldn’t bother you anymore. After that, you can take a car to the best hotel in the city and meet me there. I’ll book a few rooms so everyone can stay for a few nights until things calm down.”
Qin Nuanyu immediately objected, rushing to his side and grabbing his right hand. “No, absolutely not! We’re on the eighth floor—climbing down from here is far too dangerous.”
Yang Xiaofan reached out with his left hand, gently pinching her slightly chubby cheek and smiling. “Silly girl, after all this time with me, don’t you know what kind of person I am? Am I the type who enjoys taking risks? I would never do anything unless I was certain of the outcome.”
He paused, gazing at her belly with tenderness. “Besides, I’m a father now. Even if I don’t think of myself, I have to think of both of you.”
“Well… all right then.” Remembering his many feats, Qin Nuanyu finally nodded in agreement.
After giving her a gentle kiss on the forehead, Yang Xiaofan braced himself on the windowsill with one hand and leaped out from the eighth floor.
“Look! Someone from Old Qin’s family just jumped!”
Someone below caught sight of this and, in no time, several young people had their phones out, recording the moment.
Among the crowd, many had indeed come for treatment. But there were also plenty just eager to catch a glimpse of Yang Xiaofan, shoot a short video, and gain some popularity for their Douyin accounts.
“That’s Old Qin’s son-in-law!”
“My god, is he out of his mind? That’s the eighth floor—if the fall doesn’t kill him, it’ll cripple him!”
But to everyone’s astonishment, after jumping from the eighth floor, Yang Xiaofan expertly used his agility, stepping off two or three air conditioning units on the wall in quick succession, and, in just a few seconds, landed swiftly and steadily on the ground like a mountain goat.
Before anyone could react, he had already darted away.
With his enhanced physique, he moved faster than any ordinary person could notice.
“Holy crap!”
The two or three hundred people gathered below were all left dumbfounded.
Aside from TV dramas, who would dare attempt such a feat in real life? No safety equipment, nothing—just leaping from the eighth floor and landing unharmed. Was Yang Xiaofan actually practicing legendary qinggong?
“Hurry, upload that video online—it’ll go viral for sure!”
“Amazing! Brother-in-law is simply unbeatable!”
Sure enough, not long after the video was posted online, Yang Xiaofan was once again the talk of the town.
There was no helping it. At this point, he was a trending topic magnet.
Moreover, Douyin and several other video platforms deliberately boosted his exposure. Now, his popularity far surpassed that of top internet celebrities.
Even prominent streamers like Old Diao and Daxian couldn’t compare. Their streams relied on gaming and could only attract a fraction of the population—those interested in games.
But Yang Xiaofan was different.
From sand painting, to chess, to medicine—his talents were unmatched by any other influencers. Others might be able to play games, but none could master his arts, chess, or medicine.
It was a crushing superiority in his personal field—utterly unassailable.
Most importantly, his medical skills were enough to set anyone’s heart racing.
Despite all the advances in modern medicine, there are still countless difficult and incurable conditions. Even for the wealthy, it’s nearly impossible to find a miracle doctor.
But now, Yang Xiaofan’s appearance seemed to shine a new light of hope for everyone.
It was as if people had discovered the existence of a living legend.
No wonder everyone was so excited.
As soon as Yang Xiaofan escaped the community’s gates, he hailed a cab.
“To the best hotel in the city, please,” he said.
“Alright,” the driver replied. He glanced at Yang Xiaofan, did a double-take, then quickly pulled out his phone, opened Douyin, and found a random video to check. After confirming it several times, he stared in disbelief.
“You… are you Brother-in-law?”
