Chapter Fifty-Two: Uncle, If You Lose Again, Aunt Will Be Mine Too (Part One)
"I am in love with Nuanyu, why would I not dare to come?"
"Hmph! Shameless! Nuanyu is simply too naïve, and you've deceived her. Let me tell you, if you can't give me a satisfactory answer today, you won't even step out of this door."
Yang Xiaofan smiled and said, "I will marry Nuanyu, and for the rest of my life, I will treat her well."
"Those words might fool a young girl. Do you think marriage is just something you can say? After marriage, every aspect of daily life—from groceries to oil, soy sauce, vinegar, and tea—requires care. Have you made any plans? Have you considered what’s best for our Nuanyu? Where will you live after getting married? What standards of living will you uphold?"
"I have already thought this through. Nuanyu and I will live in Northern Jiangsu most of the time, where we’ll buy a villa. Then, in my hometown and in this city, we’ll each buy another villa, so it’s convenient to visit both our parents. As for living standards, I will hire the best housekeeper to take care of everything at home. I will never let her step into the kitchen or do any chores."
Father Qin's face couldn't help but twitch fiercely.
Yang Xiaofan's words left him speechless. After all, even he himself couldn't provide such a lifestyle for his daughter.
But he would never be swayed just by money. After all, Yang Xiaofan had gotten his daughter pregnant; how could he let him off so easily?
"Hmph! Do you think that's enough? Life is more than daily necessities. There are also the cold and warmth of human relationships. If your mother and Nuanyu fall into the water at the same time, who will you save?"
"My mother can swim."
"I'm saying, hypothetically!"
"Even in your 'hypotheticals', my mother can swim—that’s a fact! She even won the town’s women’s swimming championship."
A soft laugh escaped from Nuanyu and Mother Qin standing nearby.
"What’s so funny?" Father Qin glared fiercely at the mother and daughter, then fiercely at Yang Xiaofan.
"What if, in the future, Nuanyu has difficulty giving birth?"
Mother Qin's face changed.
"You old fool, what nonsense are you spouting? Why do you only talk about the bad?"
Father Qin snapped back, "Shut up! I’m talking to him right now."
He stared directly at Yang Xiaofan, who replied without hesitation, "I would protect Nuanyu, no question. Even if I have to give up having children myself, I would never let Nuanyu’s life be threatened."
Mother Qin nodded with satisfaction. At this point, she was already very pleased with Yang Xiaofan. Whether it was his financial situation, appearance, or character... Yang Xiaofan was impeccable in every aspect.
Yet Father Qin was far from satisfied. His anger had nowhere to go, and instead, he felt even more infuriated as Yang Xiaofan kept answering so well.
He slammed the table, sending the chess pieces flying.
"So what? You got her pregnant before marriage, damaging her reputation. Did you ever consider her feelings? Do you know what relatives and friends will say behind her back? Don’t think you can act recklessly here just because you have some money. I’m not that easily fooled."
Yang Xiaofan responded solemnly, "Uncle Qin, I admit that I was careless with this matter. I apologize to you. If you need to vent your anger, you can hit me, or do whatever you see fit. But I hope you can trust my sincerity toward Nuanyu and allow her to marry me."
"Xiaofan."
Nuanyu’s eyes grew moist once again.
Her father had raised her, and if Yang Xiaofan had insisted, she would have stood by his side, but it would have hurt her father deeply—something she never wished to see.
But Yang Xiaofan did not. Even now, with money, status, and prestige, he had never shown the slightest disrespect toward her father.
This alone moved Nuanyu profoundly.
As the saying goes, "Love the house and its crow." Those who truly love you will certainly respect your parents.
For Yang Xiaofan, he merely did what a man should do.
Putting himself in Qin's shoes, if he had a daughter who wasn’t married or even engaged, and someone got her pregnant, he would be furious.
So he could completely understand Father Qin’s feelings at this moment.
"Do you think I really won’t hit you?"
Father Qin was just looking for a chance to vent his anger on Yang Xiaofan.
Now that Yang Xiaofan himself had offered, he was determined to seize the opportunity and give him a good beating.
Yet Mother Qin’s expression changed. She would never allow him to lay a hand on Yang Xiaofan and stepped forward to block him.
"Enough, old fool! Aren’t you ever going to stop? Xiaofan’s attitude is so good, can’t you just let him be? Must you push him to the edge?"
Father Qin trembled with rage.
"Move aside! If I don’t hit him, I won’t feel better."
"If you dare lay a finger on him today, the two of us will move out right away and leave you to live alone!"
"You—you—are you trying to drive me to my grave?"
"Who’s trying to anger you? It’s you who’s stubborn and unreasonable! At your age, why meddle so much in the children’s affairs? Xiaofan has shown enough sincerity, given you a way out, and you should take it. Stop acting high and mighty as if you’re still in your school, bossing around those elementary kids!"
Father Qin dropped heavily into his chair, breathing hard.
Originally, if he had managed to vent his anger on Yang Xiaofan, perhaps he would have relented and let him go. But since he hadn’t, all that pent-up frustration had nowhere to go, making him even more depressed and angry.
Just then, his gaze fell upon the chessboard on the table, and his eyes suddenly lit up.
He sat upright, adjusted his black-rimmed glasses, cleared his throat, and said,
"You brat, you want to marry my daughter? I won’t make things difficult for you. Play chess with me. If you can beat me, you can choose anything in our house. If you win everything, I’ll agree to your marriage with Nuanyu. But if you lose even one game, get out immediately and never show yourself to Nuanyu again!"
"???"
Yang Xiaofan squinted slightly; was Father Qin offering himself up?
"Uncle, are you sure?"
Father Qin gave a cold, arrogant smile.
"I am a teacher after all. Do you think I’d go back on my word?"
"Alright! I accept your challenge."
With that, Yang Xiaofan initiated his 'God-making Plan', spent ten million, and upgraded his chess skills to Grandmaster. He couldn't say he was bullying Father Qin, but since he wanted to marry his wife, he’d have to.
Yet Mother Qin and Nuanyu’s faces changed dramatically.
"Xiaofan, you can’t play chess with him."
