Chapter 128: Zheng Kang, Unable to Weep or Laugh (3)
It was foreseeable that in the coming days, Qin Nuanyu would be drinking a lot of milk tea—right up until next year.
For the two of them, their engagement was a cause for great celebration.
Meanwhile, Zheng Kang had just walked out of the hospital.
"Damn it! That son-of-a-bitch Mu Shuyu, you bitch! You actually dared to keep a gigolo, and you even beat me up like this. I will never let you get away with this!"
No sooner had the words left his lips than his gaze suddenly fell upon a billboard at the bus station next to the hospital.
The billboard was playing none other than a video reel of Yang Xiaofan and Qin Nuanyu. The advertising campaign had not yet concluded, and the video had not been taken down in many places.
The moment he saw Yang Xiaofan, Zheng Kang couldn't help but freeze.
"Isn't that the gigolo? How did he manage to hook up with another woman? Is this some kind of TV show?"
A passerby glanced at him with utter disdain.
"TV show? What are you talking about? This is the most popular brother-in-law on the entire internet; he proposed today. Every billboard and large screen in all of Subei has been booked by him. Not only that, but he also put on the most extravagant fireworks display and rose-petal rain in all of Subei. The trending topics are currently flooded with their story. How long has it been since you’ve been online? You hick."
"You—!"
Zheng Kang was so angry he wanted to curse, but the passerby had already zipped away on an electric scooter.
"Damn it! Consider yourself lucky you ran fast! If you had stayed a second longer, I would have broken your legs!"
However, the man's words stuck with him. He immediately opened his phone and checked the search engine. Sure enough, the top twenty trending topics were almost entirely about Yang Xiaofan and Qin Nuanyu.
"Good for you, you gigolo, you certainly have some nerve. Eating from the bowl while eyeing the pot. You’ve taken all the benefits, damn it! And you dare to be this high-profile! Are you trying to slap me in the face? I will never let you off! I will destroy you, and that Mu Shuyu too! I will make you both experience hellish terror!"
Just as he finished shouting, his phone rang. The caller ID showed it was someone from his company. Zheng Kang picked up, his tone far from pleasant.
"Speak if you have something to say, and be quick about it!"
"Young Master, it’s a disaster! The company’s office network has collapsed. All stored plans, contracts, and confidential files have been compromised by a virus."
Zheng Kang’s eyes narrowed.
"What kind of joke are you playing? Our company’s network security is among the best in all of Subei. Who has the ability to hack our network?"
"It’s true! No one knew at first because we had already left for the day, but then the higher-ups announced we had to work overtime. When everyone came back after dinner, the network was already down."
"Damn it! Where are the idiots in charge of network maintenance? What are they doing? Are they brainless? Tell them to fix the network immediately, or they won't even have to wait until tomorrow—they can pack their bags and get out tonight!"
"Yes, sir!"
He hung up the phone in a rage, muttering curses. "Useless! A bunch of useless trash!"
Before he could finish, his phone lit up again. This time, it was his father’s number. Zheng Kang didn't dare ignore it and answered immediately.
"Hello? Dad? What is it?"
Hardly had he spoken when a torrent of furious abuse came through the line.
"You brat! What are you doing? Are you an idiot? The company’s official website has been hacked—don't you even know that?"
"I know! I’ve already ordered them to fix it as fast as possible; it should be fine soon."
"You moron, do you even know what's going on? I’m talking about the official website! The website! You’re talking about the office network!"
"The website? What’s wrong with the website?" Zheng Kang was completely bewildered.
"I don't know who did it, but they’ve hacked the Zheng Group’s official website and posted all of my, your mother’s, and your dirty laundry online. The Zheng family is truly 'famous' now!"
"What? You mean the stuff about me and my cousin, my older female cousin, and my aunt has been exposed?"
"That’s just the tip of the iceberg! Everything about me and your aunt, your other aunt, and your second aunt, including the women I’ve kept on the side—it’s all been exposed, and the videos are in high definition!"
"Holy crap! Then that means the stuff about Mom and Uncle Wang, and Uncle Li, didn't escape either?"
"That’s not the point! The point is that the Zheng Group’s tax evasion and many other illicit dealings have been reported to the authorities!"
"Go shut down the website immediately! I must have been blind to put a fool like you in charge of the website’s administrative rights. Our family is going to be ruined by your stupidity!"
"I’m going to shut it down now!"
Zheng Kang’s face turned grim. Those things could never be seen by anyone, or the Zheng family would truly be finished. However, when he tried to take the site down, he discovered to his horror that it could no longer be shut down.
"Damn you! Who is doing this behind my back?"
Zheng Kang’s face turned deathly pale, and beads of sweat the size of beans broke out on his forehead.
"Wait, Mu Shuyu!"
In this moment of crisis, he suddenly thought of her and immediately searched for the Mu Group files he had stored on the company network. But as he searched, everything fell apart. What should have been the Mu Group’s files had all been replaced by the Zheng Group’s filthy secrets.
Furthermore, as he touched the files, they seemed to detonate, automatically sending themselves to the Zheng Group’s business partners and the Subei municipal government’s official website.
These weren't just things that would make the Zheng family a laughingstock; they were enough to ensure the Zheng family would have no place to hide.
"No—! No—! No—!"
Zheng Kang let out a mournful howl, but it was impossible to stop. Initially, if the information had only been on his own website, he might have had a chance to mitigate the damage. But now, all opportunities were gone.
The files and videos had been sent to other companies and the government’s email servers. He had effectively spread the incriminating evidence himself. And because they had been sent to others, he couldn't delete them.
It meant that even if he wanted to make amends, it was already too late.
