Chapter Eighty-Seven: The Structure of the Azure Base
"Brother, where are we going? Aren't we going to see Father?" Dan Yupeng couldn't hold back his curiosity any longer and blurted out his question.
Dan Yuchen gazed at the sky outside. "No, Father will be rescued by Fantasy Technology. Right now, we have more important matters to attend to." As he spoke, his expression became grim.
"Big brother, do you mean Father's situation?"
Dan Yuchen nodded. "Father's condition isn't as serious as it appears—someone is behind this. I must find out who it is. Otherwise, the next target could be me, or it could be you. Whoever it is, I'll make sure they pay the price."
Dan Yupeng nodded, anger flickering across his face. "Yes, big brother. If I find out who did this to Father, I'll make them regret ever coming into this world!"
"Boss, I don't quite understand—why did you tell him this?" Zhu Lan shook his head. "Sometimes, you don't need to understand everything. Let's go! Let's see if the base is finished!"
Taking the secret elevator, Zhu Lan arrived at Canglan Base.
"Canglan welcomes you!" As soon as he entered, the virtual Red Queen appeared before Zhu Lan.
"Red Queen, looks like you've fully connected now?"
Red Queen nodded. "Canglan Base is completely online; my mainframe is installed and operational. I now have full control over Canglan Base."
Zhu Lan nodded. "Very good. Is the base finished?"
"There's thirty percent left. Estimated completion in one week. Boss, it's time to bring out the equipment!"
Zhu Lan nodded. "Understood." With that, he walked deeper into the base.
Originally, Canglan Base was planned as six levels, but after Kong Yan joined, it was redesigned as seven, adding a robot production line. When Red Queen took over, she added two more levels.
Now, Canglan Base had nine levels in total.
Level -1: The cargo transfer hub. Many products manufactured in the future would be packaged here. It's also the most secure level, with two entrances: one elevator connected to Zhu Lan's villa and office, equipped with the most advanced intelligent anti-theft system. Even Zhu Lan himself can't enter alone—he must be accompanied by Kong Yan or Red Queen, or connect his personal communicator to the base's internal system and get Red Queen's approval. This prevents his fingerprints or other biometrics from being exploited. Even if you discover the secret elevator, without one of the three escorting you or Zhu Lan himself unlocking the outer door via the internal system, not even a missile could breach Canglan Base.
Level 8: Biological Research Center, dedicated to the integrated research and development of gene optimization fluid.
Levels 7 to 9: The largest sections; the whole base is an inverted pyramid, with less space the deeper you go.
Level 7: Manufacturing Center, which doubles as a recreation center. It houses a large 3D printer that can easily manufacture anything not overly complex.
Level 6: Materials Research Center. All materials extracted from movies are reverse-engineered here for application across various fields.
Level 5: The true core of Canglan Base. Here, research is conducted into serums, viruses, enhancement serums, radiation responses, and all experiments involving human augmentation.
Level 4: Special Manufacturing Center—for liquid metal robots, weapons, even aerospace research.
Level 3: Special Warehouse, holding items that must remain secret; this is Zhu Lan's private vault.
Level 2: Red Queen's Control Center, the heart of Canglan Base. No one enters unless absolutely necessary; it's completely locked down, accessible only via the base network. This level features laser corridors reminiscent of the Hive from Resident Evil, and other defense measures. Not even Kong Yan, or an army of Terminators, could breach it.
Level 1: Canglan Base's Energy Center, a super arc reactor.
Access to Level 1 is strictly through Red Queen's mainframe room. To maintain it, Red Queen has combined liquid metal to create several special robots dedicated to servicing herself and the super arc reactor. No humans or machines can enter below Level 2.
Not just Level 2—even Level 3's warehouse area is inaccessible without Zhu Lan's unique genetic code. No one can open the ten-meter-thick super alloy doors between Levels 4 and 3!
Through a special protocol, Level 3 slowly opened.
Kong Yan did not follow; she needed to inspect the new BA robots.
Zhu Lan entered, and an intelligent mobile chair glided over to him. He sat down, and the chair carried him deeper within.
Level 3 was divided into steel rooms, each containing different items.
There was a dedicated area for Zhu Lan to materialize objects—a vast space, large enough to hold even a ship.
He opened the nearby computer; Red Queen had already organized an array of necessary items from various movies. With Red Queen present, Zhu Lan didn't have to waste time searching. He simply told Red Queen what he needed, and she would find it among millions of films worldwide.
Today, Zhu Lan's task was to materialize a batch of advanced components from the 22nd-century aerospace field, intended for assembling a super 3D printer.
Manufacturing such a printer would cost at least two hundred billion; the super 3D printer was over two hundred meters long, enormous enough to print an actual fighter jet with ease.
Spatial storms raged within the room, demonstrating their power. The space distortion looked apocalyptic, yet, strangely, nothing inside was damaged—not even Zhu Lan in the eye of the storm.
In the midst of the spatial turbulence, pieces of metal detached and materialized.
Soon, the room was filled with items—from a few centimeters to over ten meters long, all sorts of components.
Disconnecting from the Fantasy System, Zhu Lan completed the materialization and breathed a sigh of relief.
His complexion wasn't pale, just a bit tired.
Through frequent use, Zhu Lan had become adept at the Fantasy System. With mental power bolstered by natural tea, his abilities were rapidly improving, transforming every month.
He once tested his limits with a single item—a sedan—and could materialize eighty-seven cars at most.
Over the past few months, he'd materialized over three hundred cars—a staggering number, even to himself, including luxury vehicles worth over a million dollars each.
But Red Queen dismantled them for robot production materials.
Some became manufacturing equipment components; since car materials are high-grade steel, there was no need for further processing—just melt and use.
After a brief rest, eight doors opened nearby and a series of tracked robots emerged. They scanned the parts on the floor, picked them up one by one, and carried them away.
Now, almost all work at Canglan Base was completed by robots.
Zhu Lan ignored the robots and left the room, turning instead into another chamber on the same level.
This was a highly futuristic room, equipped with special devices. In the center lay a steel battle suit.
"Red Queen, how's the reverse engineering of Mark III?"
Upon hearing Zhu Lan's question, infrared lights flickered, reconstructing Red Queen's virtual avatar.
"Boss, the Mark III has been fully reverse-engineered. The new Canglan suit is under construction!"
"Oh? Completed?" Zhu Lan was astonished. Red Queen was a biological model AI, yet had managed to reverse-engineer the Mark series battle suit in such a short time—a feat that amazed him.
"Red Queen, I remember you're not specialized in this kind of technology, are you?" Zhu Lan voiced his doubts.
Red Queen nodded. "That's true, Boss. But your world has extensive research in this field. I've acquired some national research data and, combining Mark II and Mark III, have fully reverse-engineered their structure. The miniaturization issue of the arc reactor has been solved."
"For the application of palladium, I've integrated nuclear battery technology to optimize energy release from the arc reactor. The second-generation arc reactor increases energy efficiency by thirty-two percent!"
The first-generation arc reactor was the simple model Tony built in the Middle East using missiles and spare parts. The second generation was the standard Mark III arc reactor. The third generation was the triangular reactor created with new elements. The fourth generation is still just a vague concept, likely involving spatial energy applications—perhaps it'll appear when Iron Man 4 is released!
"How's the acquisition of palladium going? Any good news from Qite?"
"Acquisition has hit obstacles. Qite has requested support, and I've dispatched five newly produced BA-200 units to assist him."
"Still not enough?"
"The US Intelligence Agency is watching Qite. The palladium acquisition infringes on American interests. Intelligence from Qite suggests the agency may target him, so I've covertly smuggled BA-200 units into Africa overnight."
"Why didn't you tell me?" Zhu Lan frowned. Qite's overseas mission was twofold: to help Blue Sky Wish acquire raw materials for gene optimization fluid, and to secretly contact material manufacturers and suppliers, attempting to purchase palladium.
The raw materials for gene optimization fluid came from over a dozen countries in South America and Africa. Blue Sky Wish went to South America, and Qite went to Africa. With Africa's resources, palladium is abundant. Qite's mission was to locate and secretly acquire palladium.
"Boss, you're under a lot of pressure, and Qite's situation hasn't become critical. With his intelligence, he can handle minor issues. To prepare for surprises, I sent new BA-200 units to enhance his chances of success."
Zhu Lan sighed and nodded. "Next time, notify me in advance. I don't want any more unexpected incidents. Fantasy Technology's second phase is crucial. I don't want outside forces drawn to us—do you understand?"
"Yes, Boss. I understand. I'll have Qite shift focus and ensure the US Intelligence Agency doesn't target us!"
