Chapter 152: Killer Whale VS Golden Eagle
“Zhu Lan, sorry to bother you again!” Zhu Lan looked at Huang Shang and the others with a hint of helplessness.
“What’s going on? How do you have time to come here?”
Huang Shang glanced around before walking up to Zhu Lan and leaning close, speaking in a low voice, “Zhu Lan, I heard Long Cheng came looking for you?”
Zhu Lan stared at Huang Shang in surprise. “You guys knew about that too?”
Huang Shang nodded. “Long Cheng came to the South Sea; many people know that. But after he left, he unexpectedly ordered the Azure Dragon Group to stop targeting you. That confused a lot of people. What’s even stranger is that no one opposed it. Given their personalities, there’s no way they’d just give up, not even under orders from above.”
Zhu Lan smiled mysteriously.
Huang Shang frowned. “Zhu Lan, what exactly did you say to Long Cheng?”
“The Buddha says: it is unspeakable.”
“Damn!”
“Why are you all here?”
Zhu Lan looked over at Gu Xiaobei and the others, who were chatting and laughing, with Tang Xuejian present as well.
“Didn’t you say the model was going offline today? We just came to have a look.”
Zhu Lan gave Huang Shang a helpless glance.
“If that’s the case, let’s go.”
Zhu Lan led them deeper into the heart of Fantasy Tech.
“Wait, Zhu Lan? Here?”
Zhu Lan stopped and nodded. “Of course!”
Huang Shang and the others were amazed and quickly followed.
Passing through the vast Fantasy Tech complex, they arrived at the manufacturing area.
Upon entering the warehouse, everyone was stunned by what they saw.
“Such fine equipment!”
Inside were four Type 90 main battle tanks—the best of their kind! Nearby, a scaled model of an Apache attack helicopter was clearly visible, missiles mounted on its sides.
“This is just the small stuff. Let me show you the real treasures.”
Zhu Lan beckoned everyone and led them through the warehouse to another storage area.
Once inside, everyone was utterly shocked.
“That’s the Razorback?” Huang Shang immediately recognized the unusual aircraft.
“No way! The Golden Eagle?” Huang Shang exclaimed upon seeing the fighter next to the Razorback.
“Surprised?”
“More than surprised—I'm amazed!”
Huang Shang stepped forward, gently stroking the Razorback.
“What’s this?” Gu Xiaobei, unfamiliar with these two jets, asked Zhu Lan curiously.
“This one is the Razorback, codename—. It was the competitor to the F-22 Raptor but lost out. However, its performance surpasses the Raptor’s in many ways. The US has kept it under wraps for years; rumors say it’s actually a sixth-generation fighter because it’s so advanced.”
“The one beside it is the Golden Eagle, the S-47 fighter jet. It was produced but never officially commissioned. Its performance rivals the Raptor as well, but no one knows much about it because it’s a top-secret Russian project.”
“Wow, Mr. Zhu, I’ve only heard stories before, but seeing it now for real, your company’s tech is truly astonishing!”
“Miss Xiao, you flatter me!”
Zhu Lan accepted the praise graciously.
“Huang Shang, want to try them out?”
Huang Shang, still caressing the Razorback, looked at Zhu Lan with eyes shining.
“Really?”
“Of course. Follow me.”
Zhu Lan led the way. Huang Shang hurried after him.
Exiting the warehouse, they entered a large building. Zhu Lan took them to a room filled with rows of strange, massive devices.
“Remote control units?”
Huang Shang recognized them instantly, eyes gleaming.
Zhu Lan nodded. “Exactly. These were the first batch produced, just waiting for the War Club to complete theirs before installation.”
“Wang Sheng, link the Razorback and Golden Eagle online!”
Wang Sheng nodded and began operating the equipment.
“Huang Shang, today we’ll test the benefits of the War Club!”
“You mean?”
Zhu Lan nodded.
“Today we’ll have a one-on-one simulation battle—with live ammunition.”
Huang Shang’s eyes lit up.
“Using those two planes?”
Zhu Lan nodded again. “Both are prototypes, neither clearly superior. I spent a long time tracking down their data. Today, we’ll have some fun!”
“By the way, these two were specially designed to stay airborne for five hours. Plus, I have satellite towers that can control them up to a hundred kilometers out at sea.”
“Alright, let’s try the War Club mode today!”
At that moment, Wang Sheng approached Zhu Lan, nodding. “Boss, all set!”
“Huang Shang, your choice—Razorback or Golden Eagle?”
Huang Shang frowned, thinking for a moment.
“Golden Eagle!”
He chose the Golden Eagle, preferring the Soviet-style fighter he was accustomed to.
“Take him over!”
“Master Huang, this way please!”
“You all can watch from the main hall. There’s a spectator system set up for full coverage.”
Gu Xiaobei and the others nodded, following Kong Yan out.
“Zhu Lan, don’t make me beat you to the ground!”
Zhu Lan smiled mysteriously. “Is that so? We’ll see.”
“Fine!”
With Wang Sheng’s help, Huang Shang donned the equipment and sat in the remote control unit.
Zhu Lan didn’t hesitate either, putting on the control helmet and sitting down.
The computer started linking up.
The warehouse doors slowly opened.
Zhu Lan’s Razorback exited from the right side, while Huang Shang’s Golden Eagle came out from the left.
Outside was a short runway, just enough for two jet takeoffs.
Zhu Lan switched to the public channel. “Huang Shang, I’ve chosen the battleground. Let’s see who gets there first.”
Huang Shang paused briefly. “Got it. I’ll beat you there!”
“Is that so?”
Zhu Lan closed the public channel. The Razorback slowly accelerated, soaring into the sky.
Zhu Lan climbed the Razorback to four thousand meters, then sped toward the sea, fifty kilometers away.
He smiled mysteriously and pressed a button—the Razorback’s signal slowly vanished from the radar.
“Damn it, Zhu Lan, you’re cheating!”
Huang Shang had noticed the disappearance immediately.
He shouted “Cheater!” on the public channel, so everyone in the hall could hear.
“Don’t say that, Huang Shang. The Razorback is a fourth-generation stealth fighter competing with the Raptor. Naturally, it’s invisible on radar. Be careful—your Golden Eagle doesn’t have stealth capabilities,” Zhu Lan replied.
“Damn, you knew all along?”
“No, no, I gave you the choice. You picked the Golden Eagle yourself.”
As Zhu Lan spoke, he piloted the Razorback toward the designated sea area.
***
At a South Sea air force base, radar operators detected an unregistered signal.
“What’s going on?”
“Report: radar picked up a signal, but the source is very weak.”
“What is it?”
“Unknown. Based on the frequency, it doesn’t match any known model.”
“Wait, another signal appeared—no, it disappeared!”
Suddenly, a signal flashed on the radar, but vanished quickly.
“Any of our planes there?”
“No, I checked. None of our aircraft, not even civilian planes.”
“Investigate thoroughly!”
“Commander, we’ve detected two mysterious signals on radar!”
“Do we know what they are?”
“No idea!”
Neither Huang Shang nor Zhu Lan knew that their two fighter jets had already entered the radar’s detection range of the South Sea air base.
Meanwhile, Huang Shang’s Golden Eagle was darting across the ocean surface, dodging attacks, and shouting on the public channel, “Zhu Lan, you bastard!”
Approaching the target area, Huang Shang prepared to search for Zhu Lan’s Razorback when Zhu Lan warned, “Be careful.”
Suddenly, the Golden Eagle’s radar locked onto a missile incoming.
Panicked, Huang Shang accelerated and rolled to evade.
Boom!
Using an infrared countermeasure flare, Huang Shang managed to destroy the missile.
Climbing with the Golden Eagle, Huang Shang kept a close eye on the radar.
Suddenly, the radar flickered. Huang Shang smiled mysteriously. “Got you!”
The Golden Eagle surged forward.
Breaking through the clouds, a strange fighter appeared nearby. Sensing the Golden Eagle’s detection, the Razorback immediately dove into the clouds and vanished.
Huang Shang remained calm.
The Golden Eagle rolled and dove into the clouds, radar quickly reacquiring the Razorback’s position.
The radar locked on.
But the Razorback rolled constantly, denying the Golden Eagle a solid lock.
Huang Shang stayed composed, tailing the Razorback.
His hand hovered over the launch button, waiting for lock-on to fire.
Zhu Lan focused intently on the radar, sweat beading on his forehead. No wonder Huang Shang was an air force veteran—the man’s reflexes and speed were impressive.
The lock-on warning sounded continuously. Zhu Lan used the Razorback’s speed to evade, but the Golden Eagle’s speed was comparable, even superior in some respects.
The models were made to exact specifications. The Razorback lost out only because its stealth and speed were inferior to the Raptor, while the Golden Eagle was Russia’s most advanced fighter, rumored to surpass the S-35, but never officially commissioned.
In the open sea, the two jets chased each other through clouds and clear skies, unaware a naval patrol boat had quietly approached below.
Once the situation was displayed at the air base, everyone was stunned.
“That’s the Razorback? That’s the Golden Eagle? They’re so small?”
On the video feed, the Razorback and Golden Eagle appeared only half their real size, or even smaller.
Qin Fang smiled wryly. He’d thought there was an aircraft intrusion, but seeing the footage, he realized it was clearly Fantasy Tech’s battle models.
“Golden Eagle launched a missile! Damn, the Razorback executed a cobra maneuver and released infrared decoys. The Golden Eagle’s in trouble!”
