Chapter 154: I Am Going on Vacation

“Brother, I surrender. Come by and play again sometime.” With tears nearly filling his eyes, Qian Wen stood at the amusement park entrance to see the two of them off.
They could eat. They could eat an astonishing amount.
It was understandable that the Divine Wolf could eat so much. It was extraordinarily powerful, and Qian Wen could accept it devouring half a cow. A wolf of such caliber might even force the mastiff kings under the Northern Monster King to bow their heads. But why on earth could its master eat so much too?
Qian Wen had lost count of how much food he had ordered the chefs to bring out. In any case, it had been a great deal—enough, he thought, to feed every employee at the park to their fill.
“The dog is a freak, and the man is a freak too.”
That was the only explanation Qian Wen could come up with.
On the way home, Qin Yang patted his stomach with satisfaction. “I have to admit, the chefs at Qian Wen’s park are pretty good. The beef was delicious.”
“You’re wasteful enough already, and now you eat like this too.” Liu Yan felt that her cheeks were still burning. In front of more than a dozen people, the man had no idea what restraint meant. Glancing at the Divine Wolf, which seemed to have just belched contentedly, she said with amusement, “Qin Yang, I think you’ll have to open a slaughterhouse. This thing eats far too much. Half a calf in one meal, and at least one calf a day just to keep it full.”
“It doesn’t matter. I can afford to feed it,” Qin Yang said grandly.
The two chatted and laughed all the way home. After dropping Liu Yan off, Qin Yang led the Divine Wolf back alone. When they reached the residential compound, the security guard was startled at the sight of the beast. If he had not known Qin Yang lived there, he certainly would not have let him in. Even so, he repeatedly warned Qin Yang not to let the animal injure anyone, or there would be serious trouble. Qin Yang promised him it would not happen before finally heading inside.
The security company and the wedding agency had only recently opened, so Cheng Mu and Dongfang Haobai were rarely seen during the day—and generally just as hard to find at night. When Qin Yang arrived home, Xiao Lan and Han Dongxue were teasing Xiaomei at the entrance. The sight of an enormous wild wolf approaching left them pale with fright. Han Dongxue was at least able to force herself to stand in front of the two girls, though her entire body was trembling.
“Damn it.” Qin Yang hurried over and kicked the Divine Wolf lightly. With a laugh, he said, “It’s all right, all right. It doesn’t bite people.”
“Big brother, hold me.”
Xiaomei did not find it frightening at all. On the contrary, the aura around the Divine Wolf made her feel secure. A child’s instincts were often the sharpest. Qin Yang picked her up and said, “It’ll be guarding the door from now on, so don’t be afraid.”
By then, Xiao Lan and Han Dongxue had noticed the Divine Wolf lying docilely at the entrance. Their fear faded, though they remained cautious, worried that it might suddenly take a bite. Once inside, the wolf behaved impeccably. It even made a remarkably humanlike leap onto the sofa and sat down.
The two women exchanged bewildered glances. Could this thing really be that intelligent?
Qi Mengwei, who had heard the commotion from her room, came out and nearly lost color at the sight of the Divine Wolf sitting on the sofa. Only after Qin Yang explained everything did she relax. The women were all intensely curious about the beast, but the Divine Wolf kept staring toward Qin Yang’s study.
From inside, Qin Yang heard Han Mufeng let out a cold snort.
“Beast.”
The wolf’s fur instantly bristled. Before it could growl, Qin Yang stepped forward and patted it on the head.
“What are you barking at? That’s your senior.”
Only then did the Divine Wolf settle down. It no longer looked toward the study, instead stretching out lazily on the sofa while several curious girls approached and carefully combed through the magnificent fur of which it was so proud.
Little by little, the three women stopped being afraid. They even brought it some food, but the creature was probably still stuffed from its feast and did not so much as sniff it. Qi Mengwei cautiously sat beside it and gently patted its head. The Divine Wolf cooperated splendidly, occasionally sticking out its tongue to lick her.
“What are you going to be busy with lately?” Qi Mengwei asked as she played with it.
“I have to make a trip to Mount Lu,” Qin Yang replied with a shrug.

“Going sightseeing? I’m coming too!” Han Dongxue hurried to her feet, her eyes full of anticipation.
“I’m going for work, with a little sightseeing on the side. Fine, you can come.” Qin Yang nodded. This time he was merely paying a visit to the immortal soul of Dong Feng, so bringing someone along made little difference. After a pause, he continued, “Mengwei, you only started working recently, so don’t come with me. Xiao Lan has the college entrance examination approaching in two months, so she shouldn’t go either. You two stay home. I’ll be back in two or three days.”
Neither of them objected.
Qin Yang rose. “I’m going out to find a car. Call me if anything happens.”
After leaving the apartment, Qin Yang headed straight for the Golden Pavilion. He had nearly forgotten an important matter concerning Ji Liehu and the others. He hurried into the Golden Pavilion office, only to find Ji Liehu, Cao Long, and the rest playing mahjong. When they saw him, they gave him a seat.
Qin Yang found the scene amusing. “I say, are you fellows bored out of your minds every day?”
“Can’t be helped. Whenever there’s something to do, I send that boy Liu Long.” Ji Liehu held a cigarette between his lips as he played a tile. “That kid’s clever. He handles everything neatly and knows how to cover his tracks. He hasn’t left a single weakness behind. I’m different. If I leave the house, I’ll probably be arrested and sent back in, and next time I may never get out. I can only move around in the dead of night.”
“I came here precisely because of that.”
Qin Yang lit a cigarette and drew deeply. “Jiang Feng of National Security agreed to one of my conditions. The stains on all your records have been erased. The municipal police department deleted your old files and created new ones. Even if you went to surrender yourselves now, they wouldn’t be able to open a case against you.”
The tiles slipped from several hands and clattered onto the floor. They stared at Qin Yang in disbelief.
“Really?”
“Of course it’s real.” Qin Yang rolled his eyes and blew out a smoke ring. “I had General Jiang agree to it personally. As a senior general, he’d be too embarrassed to go back on his word.”
“Why didn’t you say so earlier?” Ji Liehu nearly burst into tears. “Brother, do you know how nerve-racking it’s been? You’ve been back for days. Why didn’t you tell us sooner?”
“I forgot.” Qin Yang scratched his head sheepishly.
“That won’t do. I’m going to fulfill my lifelong dream right now.” Zhang Qi suddenly sprang to his feet, startling Cao Long.
“Damn you! What kind of lifelong dream is that?”
“To use the bathroom with the police—to share a public restroom!”
Zhang Qi shot out like the wind.
Everyone rolled their eyes, but the others hurried out as well, brimming with excitement. They trusted Qin Yang completely. Besides, if a senior general had agreed to a condition and then reneged, the whole country would laugh at him. Qin Yang had one of his men find an off-road vehicle, while he, Cao Long, and Ji Liehu discussed their plans.
Now that they no longer had to worry about arrest, they should be fine as long as they did not act too arrogantly. Qin Yang suggested transforming the Golden Pavilion into an entertainment club. From then on, the men would present themselves as respectable businessmen. As for the diamonds seized from Cao Xianhu, Qin Yang had taken them into his possession, and the cash would be transferred to their accounts as soon as possible.
It was not that Ji Liehu and the others were demanding money. If the Golden Pavilion were truly renovated, it would require a considerable investment. Yang Yaxin was about to take office, and part of Qin Yang’s jewelry had already entered the design stage. This was the perfect opportunity to sell off the diamonds.
As for the cash, Qin Yang was not worried. He owned shares in several international conglomerates, including some that Azalias had secretly invested in. Qin Yang had unexpectedly benefited from those investments, and money was the one thing he did not lack.
“The entertainment club has to be finalized and construction started as soon as possible,” Qin Yang said. “But we can’t stop there. My suggestion is that you develop the entertainment industry in Haitian City—KTVs, discos, dance halls, bars, and so on. You could even open a cinema complex.”

“But even if we combine all our cash, it won’t be enough to support such a plan. We’d have to keep waiting for the money to cycle back,” Cao Long said.
“Don’t worry about that,” Qin Yang replied. “I’ll invest enough money in stages. You establish an entertainment company and distribute some of the shares among the core brothers. As for underworld affairs, the two of you have finally washed your hands clean, so stay away as much as possible. If you do get involved, be careful, and let Liu Long handle more of it. If the timing is right, we might even enter the film industry.”
“Make movies?” The two men stared at him.
Qin Yang nodded. “The film industry is highly profitable too. If we’re going to build an entertainment empire, it can’t consist of KTVs alone. We can’t leave the entertainment world untouched. You two bastards have always wanted to keep some celebrity or another, haven’t you? If you work hard, that won’t be a problem in a few years.”
As they spoke, Zhang Qi returned. The look of satisfaction on his face made everyone want to slap him.
After Qin Yang gave them a few final instructions, he drove the car that had been prepared earlier and went with Ji Liehu to the security company. Cheng Mu had purchased a vacant lot nearby and built several dormitories, a cafeteria, and other facilities. The instructors were naturally the brothers from Black Prison. The trainees were currently made up of Ji Liehu’s former subordinates, along with some men Liu Long had brought from Fengyang to gain experience.
It was called a security company, but in its early stages it was really a training ground for enforcers.
As soon as they entered the grounds, they saw more than seventy men lined up, each doing push-ups. Yuwen Xiang was among them. Yang Guang, Cheng Mu, and Zhao Wu sat nearby, drinking coffee and smoking with leisurely ease.
Of the thirty-odd remaining brothers from Black Prison, some were out enjoying themselves, while others had gone to Dongfang Haobai to find wives.
“Old Qin, come over,” Yang Guang called.
Qin Yang walked over and sat down. “Have you recruited any newcomers?”
“Chu Dongtian is handling the recruitment. That kid opened an employment agency in the city, so leave finding people to him,” Cheng Mu said. “By the way, I contacted Zhou Qi. He can’t stand being idle and will be here in two days. I didn’t call the other brothers; they should stay home and spend time with their families. Dianjiang, that bastard, insisted on tagging along, so I didn’t stop him.
“Oh, and Xiao Ran will be coming in a few days to serve as manager. You know I’m really not suited to this sort of work. Uncle Wei Boyang agreed as well. In any case, he never intended to let his daughter join the military.”
“That’s fine. They haven’t been home in so many years. Let Xiao Ran come. There’s truly no one else who can keep you lot under control.” Qin Yang nodded, then paused. “I came here for something important. Step up the training and produce a group of absolutely formidable men. My traditional medicine company is opening in a few days, and Old Ji’s entertainment club may also need people once it gets underway. When I come asking you for men, don’t leave me with nothing but empty hands.”
“Don’t worry.” Cheng Mu waved dismissively. “But, Old Ji, tell your subordinate Liu Long that when he sends me people, he should send quality material. Don’t keep sending me men as skinny as monkeys. Damn it, they aren’t even enough for me to train with.”
“If you take it easy, I won’t object,” Ji Liehu said as he lit a cigarette. “We’re training security guards, not soldiers. As for the enforcer unit, I’ll personally select the men for you. You can rest easy.”
“All right. One more thing: Liu Yan and I will hold seventy percent of the traditional medicine company. The rest of you should compile a list of the brothers from Black Prison. The remaining thirty percent will be divided among them. There are more than a hundred of them, which should be enough to let them live comfortably every year.” Qin Yang stretched. “Also, Liu Yan will be looking for an office building soon. Whoever has free time should help her out—carry furniture, provide security, whatever. Don’t sit around being lazy.”
“What about you? Aren’t you the one she’s really with?” Everyone stared at him in surprise.
“Me? I’m going sightseeing.”
