Chapter 121: Kneel and Call Me Ancestor
Black Prison Library.
Over a hundred prisoners were carefully reading books, while Qin Yang and Wei Xiaoran patrolled back and forth like teachers, occasionally kicking and shouting, "I want you all to behave and read quietly. These books can help you reintegrate into society. Don’t all frown like that, or Xiaoran won’t cook for you, and you’ll all go hungry."
“Old Qin, we can’t get out anyway. If we could, it wouldn’t be too late to read then,” Wu Ya said, flipping through the pages boredly. Beside him lay a dictionary—he had little education and needed such tools to understand the texts.
Qin Yang shot him a glare, glanced at the date, and said, “Soon. Time’s almost up. Hurry and read. You slack off as soon as you get a chance?”
“Exactly. It’s for your own good,” Xiaoran said earnestly.
“They really are a couple,” Wu Ya muttered.
At the library entrance, Wei Boyang hurried over, looking uneasy as he said to Qin Yang, “Someone’s watching you.”
“Ouch, my head!” Qin Yang suddenly shouted, clutching his head and collapsing to the ground. At the same time, he gestured subtly to Zhao Wu and a few others who knew about his plan. Instantly alert, they swarmed around him, shouting, “Doctor! Call a doctor quickly!”
“Don’t talk now. Help Qin Yang to his room,” Wei Xiaoran said anxiously, rushing forward to check his pale face.
Zhao Wu and the others didn’t hesitate, lifting Qin Yang and rushing back to the dormitory area.
Wei Boyang stood there stunned, still unsure what had happened. One by one, everyone scattered. An old man named Han, who had come from the capital and seemed to have heard the commotion, hurried over and asked, “What’s going on?”
“Qin Yang fainted?” Wei Boyang replied uncertainly. “He was fine just before.”
“Take me there to see,” Han said bitterly.
Wei Boyang, puzzled, led him to the dormitory. A crowd blocked the hallway. Wei Boyang scolded them impatiently, “Stop crowding. Get back to the library and read. There’s a test tonight. Fail it, and no sunbathing for three days.”
The threat made most people back off, clearing a path. Wei Xiaoran carefully stood aside as Old Han stepped forward and said, “Let me check his pulse.”
Seeing his father nod, Wei Xiaoran stepped back. Han placed his fingers on Qin Yang’s pulse and smiled bitterly. “Qin Yang, wake up.”
“Ow, that hurts,” Qin Yang mumbled groggily as he came to. Xiaoran quickly adjusted his pillow. Qin Yang held his chest and said, “My heart hurts too. A few bastards pissed me off. Ouch, who’s this? Looks familiar… a phantom? Not human. Ouch, it hurts so much. Xiaoran, massage my temples counterclockwise, gently. Damn, it really pisses me off. I’m locked up in this Black Prison, yet someone dares to hit my friend. Luckily, Cheng Mu stepped in. I still can’t swallow my anger—how can people be so despicable?”
His words were thinly veiled insults.
Han, feeling guilty, dared not argue. He smiled bitterly. “Qin Yang, my old face is indeed ruined, but in the end, I still want to beg you this once: even if it costs a life for a life, if you’re willing, I’ll die right before your eyes. Just please save him.”
“Go die, even if you do, I’m not going,” Qin Yang murmured, sipping warm water drowsily. “No, I want peace. Wei Boyang, can you leave? I want to rest alone.”
“Let’s go,” Wei Boyang said, patting Han’s shoulder.
Han reluctantly stood and followed him out. Only after they left did Qin Yang smirk coldly. Wei Xiaoran then gave him a hard pinch, dissatisfied. “You only know how to scare me.”
“Fine, I had no choice,” Qin Yang said frustratedly. “Can I trust them? These people take offense at everything, shamelessly so. My medical skills are for those with conscience; some villains don’t deserve them. They harm others and themselves.”
“You’re so clever,” Wei Xiaoran rolled her eyes.
Qin Yang sat up straight. “Dealing with these people requires some cunning.”
“So, will you save him or not? I won’t judge; I just want to know your plan,” Wei Xiaoran asked.
“Of course I’ll save him. But before that, I’ll have some fun with them. I like making people lose face. And Xiaoran, you might lose your job.”
“Huh?”
“This time, to get me to save someone, they have to release everyone in Black Prison,” Qin Yang grinned. “Once everyone’s out, you’ll be out of a job.”
“But will it work?” Wei Xiaoran didn’t care about losing her job; she just wanted her big brothers to really get out.
Qin Yang laughed. “When a nation’s guardian faces an emergency, these people can’t cling to their pride. Zhao Wu and the others were locked up over some shady struggles. Some people have long wanted them out—the General Jiang family had the same plan. They just needed a way out, which led to the last operation. This time, the path is even wider, and more prisoners will be released. The conflicts they were involved in are long outdated; the Black Prison only exists because of pride. Unfortunately, I love making them lose face.”
“What will you do next?” Wei Xiaoran asked curiously.
Qin Yang straightened the messy hair on her forehead. “Lift them up and pave their way out. After you leave this afternoon, rumors about Black Prison will spread. The War God Squad will become the focus again. The military won’t admit these unsavory things due to pressure. We recently helped them build a good image; now’s their chance to establish discipline. If any scandal breaks out, it would be a huge disgrace. People care most about the War God Squad. If nothing happens to them, the Chinese military will always be seen as heroes defending the homeland. When the time is right, I’ll say a few words, and those bastards will release them early. Most importantly, the military leaders have long wanted the War Gods out of Black Prison. Those old generals almost treat their soldiers like their own children. Honestly, I admire them. They’ve fought hard for the prisoners. If it weren’t for some black-hearted scoundrels—hmph.”
“Who are these black-hearted scoundrels?” Xiaoran asked, clenching her fists.
“Politicians.”
“Oh,” Xiaoran nodded thoughtfully, then asked, “So how do you plan to mess with them?”
“Of course, I’ll make them kneel and beg for mercy.”
