Chapter 120: Finally Arrived

Yan Xiaofeng conveyed the message, but Jiang Nanyan could not be bothered to reply. He was busy preparing for his wedding, which was no small matter. The invitations had already been sent out one after another. As the grandson of General Jiang, the marriage might not cause a sensation, but many people would have no choice but to attend. Even if the commanders of the major military regions could not come in person, they would still have to send representatives with congratulatory gifts.
Meanwhile, Old Han kept trying to repair his relationship with Han Dongxue, only to be turned away time and again.
He knew that he had hurt his granddaughter far too deeply this time.
Yet the repeated rejections did not discourage him. He believed that as long as he persisted, Han Dongxue would eventually call him “Grandpa” affectionately again. Clearly, however, this was not going to be easy.
Downstairs, Cheng Mu and Dongfang Hao watched the old man’s figure on the staircase and curled their lips. If he had not been Han Dongxue’s grandfather, they would have gone up and thrown the old bastard down themselves—first, to vent Qin Yang’s anger, and second, because the man was truly disturbing their peace.
After returning to the room, Cheng Mu glanced at the date. There were only three or four days left until the end of March.
“Time is running short,” he said.
Dongfang Hao rubbed his hands together and chuckled. “Yeah. I really want to see how embarrassed he’ll be.”
“Have you finished setting up the matchmaking agency?” Cheng Mu poured himself a glass of water. “I’m your first customer. If you don’t find me a beautiful woman, I’ll kill you.”
“Relax, relax. The registration has already been approved by the Administration for Industry and Commerce. Ah, speaking of which, I nearly forgot—the construction crew is going over to renovate the place today. I don’t have time to chat. It’s getting late.”
Dongfang Hao checked the time, then hurried back to his room and changed into a suit. Dressed in a suit and tie and carrying a briefcase, he looked every inch the successful businessman.
Cheng Mu was a major boss as well, and his company was nearly ready to open, so he too wore a suit and tie every day. It was hard to imagine that these two polished, respectable-looking men had recently been fighting hundreds of gangsters.
The moment they stepped out of the room, they saw two military communications officers rushing up the stairs. Both men froze.
The soldiers did not notice them. They ran straight to the rooftop and whispered something into Old Han’s ear. From below, they could vaguely see the old man’s expression change dramatically before he hurried away with them.
Dongfang Hao frowned. “There should still be two days left, shouldn’t there?”
“Looks like his condition has deteriorated ahead of schedule. Qin Yang said before that there was a high chance his illness would suddenly worsen, especially during the final seven days.” Cheng Mu gave a cold laugh. “Let’s go. Qin Yang is probably about to lose his temper. We’re respectable businessmen now. We shouldn’t get involved in this sort of thing.”
Old Han hurried all the way back, taking a plane to the capital.

After getting off the plane, he did not rest for even a moment before rushing back to the residence in the suburbs. When he entered the hall of the inner courtyard, he saw Jiang Nanyan’s anxious face.
“Master Han, please take a look.”
Old Han had no mood to settle old scores with him. He rushed into the room, only to find that General Jiang—who should have been glowing with health—had turned a terrifyingly pale white. His entire body seemed to be trembling faintly, yet he remained unconscious.
Old Han first lifted the general’s eyelids. When he saw that the man’s eyes were cloudy and utterly devoid of light, he was shocked. He immediately placed his right hand on the general’s pulse.
Beside him, Jiang Nanyan did not dare make a sound and could only wait anxiously.
As Old Han’s expression grew increasingly grim, Jiang Nanyan’s spirits sank like a plane plummeting from the sky.
Only after Old Han withdrew his hand did Jiang Nanyan ask anxiously, “What exactly is going on?”
“What an extraordinary Qin Yang.” Old Han sighed helplessly. “Has his medical skill truly reached such an unsurpassed level?”
“What exactly is the cause?” At the mention of Qin Yang’s name, Jiang Nanyan’s expression darkened. “Is there something wrong with his medicine?”
Old Han snorted coldly. “I have nothing to say about being inferior to another man. But you, on the other hand, are truly a shameless turncoat.”
“Uncle Han, this is not the time to quarrel. What exactly is happening?”
A middle-aged man who bore some resemblance to Jiang Nanyan strode rapidly into the room. He moved with the imposing gait of a dragon and tiger, his bearing solemn and majestic. Clearly, he had long occupied a position of authority.
“There is nothing wrong with the medicine or the treatment.” Old Han’s voice was cold. “The problem lies in General Jiang’s physical condition.”
The middle-aged man was shocked. “Uncle Han, what is wrong with my father?”
“His body originally suffered from an insufficiency of the five elements and an imbalance between yin and yang. Qin Yang used acupuncture to open the meridians throughout his body and condense the elemental energy anew. Using the feet as the point of entry, he nourished the internal organs with medicine and revived his body’s vitality. But what we never expected was for his illness to mutate. It is like the relationship between antibiotics and viruses: after prolonged use of antibiotics, viruses naturally develop resistance. As time passes, the antibiotics gradually lose their effectiveness.”
Old Han sank helplessly into a chair.
“Now, continuing to use those medicines will only have the opposite effect. They are worsening his condition. His vital force is declining at a terrifying rate. If we cannot find a treatment within seven days, then prepare to notify the entire nation.”
“What?”

Jiang Nanyan staggered back a step.
The middle-aged man, Jiang Feng, wore an extremely grave expression. “Who can treat him?”
“At present, Qin Yang is the only one with any real chance.” Old Han looked coldly at Jiang Feng and his son. “But I advise you not to seek him out. Given his temperament, if he appears in this hospital room, the first thing he will do is kill the three generations of your family. I would not escape either. If I am not mistaken, he has probably already calculated that General Jiang’s condition would worsen. Hmph. General Jiang spent his entire life valuing promises, yet he never expected to be betrayed by his own descendants.”
Jiang Feng smiled bitterly. “The matter concerning Qin Yang was of enormous importance. We took those measures as a temporary expedient to ensure my father’s safety. We never imagined things would turn out like this. Uncle Han, please convey this to Qin Yang: my entire family will agree to any condition, so long as my father’s life can be preserved.”
Old Han smiled bitterly. Would Qin Yang believe him?
He rose helplessly. “Very well. I will make another trip to the Black Prison. But do not place all your hopes on me. No one can predict Qin Yang’s strange temper. I advise you to prepare other options as well.
“First, intensify the search for a miracle doctor. It would be best if you could find someone capable of restraining this illness; that way, neither of us would have to disgrace ourselves.
“Second, find a way to persuade Qin Yang’s friends. Qin Yang values loyalty deeply. But let me make one thing clear: if you dare use so-called authority to threaten anyone, I can only die alongside General Jiang.”
“Yes.”
Jiang Feng knew this was no time for foolishness and immediately began issuing orders.
Jiang Nanyan stared at his gravely ill grandfather. Recalling Old Han’s words, all traces of arrogance and self-assurance vanished from his face, leaving it deathly pale.
“Qin Yang, Qin Yang… From the great pursuit in Fengyang County, you already knew that my grandfather was seriously ill. You began leading me into a trap step by step. How laughable that I thought I had control of the entire situation. I never imagined…”
The news of General Jiang’s critical illness had long been known throughout the country. Qin Yang had naturally learned of it before being sent into the Black Prison.
After finding Yuwen Rounu, Qin Yang had been able to kill without restraint, because he knew that once he entered the prison, someone would eventually find a way to get him out. Someone had to survive—and survival depended on Yuwen Rounu’s medical skills.
He had calculated that there were hardly any miracle doctors in the entire country. Even if one existed, Jiang Nanyan would never be able to find them, especially now that matters had reached this point.
After drinking my medicine, you expect someone else to cure him? Keep dreaming. Even if Hua Tuo himself came, it would be useless.
