"Xiaoqian, our cook is away today, so Auntie and Haoran will take you to a grand hotel for dinner."

"No worries, Auntie. I'm not picky. Let's go."

Just as the three were about to get into the car and leave, Father Yan suddenly blocked their path, his face filled with fury.

"That old man again?" Zhang Xiaoqian leaned out from the passenger seat, cursing, "You old geezer, are you trying to stage a hit-and-run scam?"

"This is a wealthy neighborhood. If you don't get out of the way, I'm calling security."

However, Father Yan stepped forward with a cold expression, looking at Li Huijun, who appeared guilty. "Ms. Li, I heard you took something that doesn't belong to you, didn't you?"

Just moments ago, Gu Cangfeng's subordinate had returned the watch belonging to the heir of the Junlin Group—the very watch Yan Fengjia had pawned. Noticing the Qin family acting suspiciously, they had reported the matter to Gu Cangfeng, who then promptly contacted Father Yan. Father Yan had come specifically to recover Yan Fengjia’s property.

"Oh, please, old man. We didn't steal it, nor did we rob you. Why would we take your things? Do you have any proof?" Li Huijun resorted to being unreasonable. "If you don't have proof, don't talk nonsense. Be careful, or I'll sue you for slander."

The watch was clearly valuable; there was no way she and her son would hand it over. Once it was in their hands, it was theirs.

Father Yan took a deep breath, suppressing his anger. "Ms. Li, don't make things too ugly. It won't be good for either of our families. Just return Fengjia’s item, and I won't hold this against you."

"Who do you think you are?" Zhang Xiaoqian leaned out impatiently. "You're just the father of a caretaker. This is my boyfriend’s home. Why would we steal anything from you?"

Father Yan ignored her, his eyes fixed on Qin Haoran in the driver’s seat. Instinctively, he reached into his pocket. "Hand it over," Father Yan commanded, staring directly at Qin Haoran.

Qin Haoran panicked; he had no experience with such confrontations. "Get lost! I don't know what you're talking about."

Qin Haoran suddenly stepped on the gas, and the car sped away, accidentally brushing against Father Yan. Father Yan fell heavily onto the nearby lawn and could not get back up.

Meanwhile, elsewhere, Shen Man wiped the corner of her mouth, lying in Yan Fengjia’s arms like a soft kitten, greedily breathing in his masculine scent.

"If you want more next time, come find me. Don't worry, I won't ask you to take responsibility."

Just as Yan Fengjia was about to speak, his phone rang. It was his father.

"Dad, are you—"

Before he could finish, Yan Fengjia sat up abruptly. "Don't move, I'm coming right now."

"What happened?" Shen Man asked, puzzled.

"My father was hit by a car."

Yan Fengjia arrived at the scene shortly after. A few security guards were passing by and were escorting the visibly pained Father Yan.

"Dad, who hit you?" Yan Fengjia and Shen Man arrived late.

Father Yan sighed. Knowing that family scandals shouldn't be aired, he waved his hand. "President Shen, thank you for your hospitality. Remember to come over for a meal when you're free."

Shen Man, a shrewd woman, knew how to handle the situation. "Of course, old man. Since you aren't seriously injured, go home and rest. Mr. Yan, if you need anything, just let me know."

Yan Fengjia helped his father home. The Qin family had already left. Upon learning that the watch sent by the Gu family had been seized by the Qins, and that they had nearly hit his father while fleeing, his rage boiled over.

"They are courting death!"

Yan Fengjia’s eyes turned bloodshot. The teacup he had been handing to his father shattered in his grip.

Father Yan sighed. "Fengjia, is that watch very important to you?"

Yan Fengjia smiled faintly. "It’s just a souvenir from the master who taught me medicine."

"Then you should get it back. Regardless of its monetary value, that friendship is priceless."

Yan Fengjia suppressed his fury. "Don't worry, Dad. I will get it back myself."

"Remember, don't be impulsive. After all, they are Wanqiu's family. If you can talk it out, talk it out."

Yan Fengjia nodded, but his heart was filled with murderous intent. It wasn't because of the watch representing his status as the heir to the Junlin Group, but because they had nearly killed his father.

...

Inside the headquarters building of the Tiandi Auction House, the sudden appearance of the watch had alarmed the top brass. The person in charge of the branch received an emergency order and dropped everything to rush over.

"Excuse me, who is the one wishing to pawn this watch?" A man in a suit, dripping with sweat, ran in, panting.

In the VIP lounge, Qin Haoran was stunned. It was just a three-million-dollar watch; was such a grand display necessary?

"It's me," Qin Haoran stood up. Just as he was about to continue, the middle-aged man grabbed his hand, trembling with excitement.

"Sir, our Tiandi Auction House does not dare to accept this watch. If you are short on money, it’s just a matter of saying so. Why pawn it?" The middle-aged man was pale with fright. The Tiandi Auction House was part of the Junlin Group; how could they dare to accept the master's watch?

Now it was Qin Haoran’s turn to be confused. Before he could ask, the middle-aged man produced a bank card. "Sir, here is ten million. If you need anything else later, just say the word. Serving you is the supreme honor of the Tiandi Auction House."

"You... you're really giving me ten million?" Qin Haoran couldn't believe it.

The middle-aged man paused, thinking his behavior had been too abrupt. He quickly corrected himself. "Ten million is certainly not enough for you, sir. How about this? Please wait here while I contact my superiors to authorize more funds. How much would you like, sir?"

Qin Haoran was terrified. He turned to Li Huijun. "Mom, what... what do we do?" Everything had happened too suddenly; they were completely unprepared. It was just a watch—what was going on?

Li Huijun didn't care. If they could get money from this watch, why be polite? "We want twenty million," she said boldly.

The middle-aged man smiled. "Certainly."

"Then we want fifty million!" Qin Haoran raised his hand.

The middle-aged man remained smiling. "Not to mention fifty million, even five billion is a small matter."

"My god!" The mother and son looked at each other, as if they had found a legendary treasure basin.

Just then, the door was kicked open.

"Bang!"

Yan Fengjia walked in, his face full of murderous intent. "Qin Haoran, you have some nerve. You hit my father, didn't you?"

Qin Haoran froze, hiding behind his mother in fear. Li Huijun saw it was Yan Fengjia and sneered. Now that they had the watch, they had endless wealth. Naturally, she looked down on the Yan family.

"That old geezer didn't have eyes and blocked the road. How can you blame my son? Besides, don't think you can throw your weight around just because you have a little money. Let me tell you, from today on, my family doesn't need you. Get out!"

Yan Fengjia scoffed, spotting the watch on the table. "That item is mine. Who gave you permission to touch it?"

Upon hearing this, Qin Haoran grabbed it quickly. This was their ticket to a new life; he wouldn't hand it over. "Hey, do you do whatever I tell you to?" he asked the middle-aged man.

"Yes, you are a prominent figure in the Tiandi headquarters. This is your home," the man replied with a smile.

Qin Haoran pointed at Yan Fengjia. "Then I order you to throw him out immediately. He is trying to rob my watch!"
