Volume One, Chapter Seventeen: Dog Bites Dog
“Cough, cough...”
“Help me!”
The so-called apology tea was forcefully poured into Director Liu’s mouth. He immediately went mad, dropping to his knees and clawing desperately at his throat.
Seeing this, the father and daughter of the Gu family gasped sharply and hurried forward to support him.
However, Director Liu suddenly shoved them aside and rushed over to Lei Hu, his face filled with terror. “Quick, give me the antidote! Please, give me the antidote—I’m dying!”
A faint smile curved Lei Hu’s lips. “Director Liu, what antidote? This is just a cup of ordinary tea.”
“You bastard! Are you trying to kill me?” Director Liu knew full well how deadly the poison was.
Seeing Lei Hu suddenly backtrack, he realized the underground emperor intended to use his death to frame Yan Fengjia.
“Help! Somebody help!” Director Liu panicked completely, crawling and scrambling out of the Gu residence, shouting loudly for his driver to take him to the hospital.
Gu Zangfeng was stunned.
Could it be that Lei Hu really had poisoned the tea?
“Lei Hu, what exactly have you done?” Gu Zangfeng’s face darkened as he pointed and scolded him.
Lei Hu chuckled. “Boss Gu, what could I have done? I’m just a lowly lackey standing by Director Liu.”
“So you really poisoned this tea, hoping to kill Yan Fengjia?”
“Does it matter if I did or didn’t?”
“You...”
“Gu Zangfeng, watch your tone. I have Li Tianchen backing me up. I’m telling you straight—I want him dead.”
“If you dare stop me today, your Gu family will be the next Yan family.”
“Do you dare?” Gu Zangfeng positioned Yan Fengjia behind him and said coldly, “Do you even respect the law? Even if Li Tianchen were here, he wouldn’t dare act recklessly against my Gu family.”
But Lei Hu burst into laughter upon hearing this.
“Gu Zangfeng, you probably don’t know,” Lei Hu shook his head with a smile.
“The downfall of the Yan family was orchestrated by your former son-in-law, Su Chen, in league with Li Tianchen.”
“And you were completely oblivious, nearly letting the wolf into your house.”
“I admit, that kid’s medical skills are impressive—he managed to break the poison like that. Otherwise, how could the Yan family have lasted till now?”
“You... you beast!” Gu Zangfeng, who had lived honestly all his life, couldn’t believe anyone would sacrifice human lives for profit.
“Uncle Gu, no need to waste words on him,” Yan Fengjia said calmly. “If you want to take my life, it’ll depend on your strength.”
“But I warn you, relying on Li Tianchen to secure your position as the underground emperor of Qinghai City will only backfire on you.”
“You brat, don’t threaten me. What are you even worth?”
“Today, you will surely die.”
With that, Lei Hu’s eyes suddenly blazed with killing intent as he stepped forward to attack.
Gu Zangfeng’s face changed drastically. “Yan Fengjia, protect my daughter. I’ll hold him off.”
Before Gu Zangfeng could finish, Yan Fengjia acted decisively, moving even faster than Lei Hu, closing the distance in a single step.
His movements were as swift and graceful as a startled phoenix, as fast as lightning.
Before Lei Hu could react, he felt as if his chest had been struck by a truck, and he was violently thrown backward.
“Pft!”
Lei Hu spat out a mouthful of blood, disbelief written all over his face.
“You... you’re a martial artist!”
Yan Fengjia smiled faintly. “Su Chen secretly poisoned my father with a venom he got from you. No wonder it smelled so familiar.”
“If that’s the case, you wouldn’t be alive today.”
“You dare touch me?” Lei Hu sneered. “I have Li Tianchen backing me. Do you know what kind of power and influence he wields in Qinghai City?”
Yan Fengjia laughed. “Have you not been in contact with Li Tianchen lately?”
“What do you mean?” Lei Hu felt a chill run down his spine.
Yan Fengjia sighed. “You can try calling him—I’m giving you a chance to save yourself.”
Confused, Lei Hu quickly pulled out his phone and dialed.
But the call was answered by Li Tianchen’s wife.
“Sis-in-law, please get Brother Li on the phone. That Yan Fengjia kid... he’s trying to kill me. Tell him to come save me quickly.”
Hearing this, Mrs. Li burst into tears. “Lei Hu, my husband is dead.”
“Now all our family’s companies have been swallowed by the Shen family, and I...”
“Buzz!”
At those words, Lei Hu’s body trembled and his phone slipped from his hand to the floor.
“He’s dead?”
“Li Tianchen was said to be backed by... with such great strength, how could he die?”
“It was you!” Lei Hu suddenly realized something and looked at Yan Fengjia in horror. “You killed Li Tianchen?”
Yan Fengjia offered no explanation. “Lei Hu, it’s time for you to go.”
“Wait!” Lei Hu regretted his words as he saw Yan Fengjia approaching with unstoppable murderous intent.
“Mr. Yan, have mercy! I... I was wrong. The poison was ordered by Li Tianchen for Su Chen. I was only following orders.”
“If you don’t believe me, I can call Su Chen right now to prove my innocence.”
Unfortunately, when he called, what came from the other end was the sound of Su Chen’s father sobbing.
“My son... is dead.”
The voice of a middle-aged man grieving his lost child echoed over the line.
Lei Hu felt as if he had fallen into an abyss.
Looking at Yan Fengjia now, he seemed like the King of Hell himself.
A figure like Li Tianchen died so quietly, without a single leak of information.
It showed just how formidable this young man truly was.
With a thud, Lei Hu knelt before Yan Fengjia, his face streaked with tears and snot, forcing out a smile more pitiful than tears.
“Mr. Yan, we had no acquaintance before, but from today on, I, Lei Hu, will serve you loyally and follow your lead.”
“Please spare my life. I beg you.”
Gu Zangfeng was stunned at the sight.
Su Chen was dead?
Since when?
Li Tianchen was dead too?
Why had they known nothing these past few days?
Was it all Yan Fengjia’s doing?
Flooded with too much information, the Gu father and daughter were at a loss.
Clearly, from the start, they had no understanding of this Yan Fengjia five years later.
As they stood dazed, a piercing scream suddenly rang out.
Yan Fengjia crushed Lei Hu’s throat with his bare hands. Lei Hu’s limbs went limp as he collapsed to the ground, motionless.
“Ah!”
Gu Qinghan was so frightened she covered her eyes and lost her balance, falling to the ground and vomiting violently.
Yan Fengjia frowned. Qinghan’s reaction was understandable.
But it only further proved that the two belonged to entirely different worlds.
Over these five years, he had witnessed too many bloody scenes within the Jiang family.
He had come to understand deeply: behind this seemingly civilized world, every master who controlled all its resources had blood on their hands.
Only by being stronger and more ruthless than others could one avoid being devoured.
“Uncle Gu, Qinghan, thank you for your kind help today. If the Gu family ever faces trouble in the future, don’t hesitate to come to me.”
“Today’s matter won’t affect you. Rest assured.”
“Fengjia, you...” Gu Zangfeng, a seasoned veteran, quickly regained his composure. “What you’re doing will land you in jail. What will your father say?”
“Don’t worry. No one in Huaxia can bind me anymore. I’m no longer the Yan Fengjia of old.”
After speaking, Yan Fengjia dialed a number.
“Come and collect the body.”
Soon, Shen Man appeared at the Gu residence with a group of people.
Seeing Lei Hu’s corpse, she showed no surprise but exchanged glances with her subordinates, signaling them to clean up the body.
“Well then... shall we go?” Shen Man smiled brightly and took Yan Fengjia’s arm.
This time, Yan Fengjia did not resist. He boldly wrapped one arm around Shen Man’s alluring waist.
He did this deliberately for Gu Qinghan to see.
From now on, stay away from me.
Otherwise, you’ll keep vomiting like this.
After all, this definitely won’t be the last person I kill. You, Gu Qinghan, are still an ordinary person without the strong psychological support I have by my side.
“Fengjia...” Seeing Yan Fengjia leave with Shen Man, Gu Qinghan covered her eyes and wept.
Beside her, Gu Zangfeng sighed deeply. “Girl, from today onwards, give up on him.”
“It’s clear he’s so brazen because the Shen family is backing him.”
The Shen family was no ordinary force—they dared to do business with overseas organizations and thrived.
Their network was just as ruthless.
It was fundamentally different from the Gu family’s traditional business.
Gu Qinghan said nothing, appearing as if she had lost her soul.
But soon, her eyes hardened with resolve.
Lifting her skirt, barefoot, she rushed out.
