Volume One, Chapter 15: Wind Armor—This Is Our Secret; You Must Not Tell Anyone Else
“Director Liu, what’s wrong? Wake up! Ambulance, call an ambulance quickly!”
The commotion in the building drew the attention of the security guards in the lobby.
On the fourth floor, Qin Wanqiu stood by the window, covering her mouth in shock as she witnessed the scene below.
“Fengjia, why are you so impulsive?”
Yan Fengjia calmly looked down. “He deserves it. Who told him to lay a hand on my family?”
“You...” Qin Wanqiu sighed deeply. Hearing him say “family,” all her anger immediately dissipated.
“Let’s go. We need to leave now.”
She couldn’t let Yan Fengjia get into trouble because of her. Qin Wanqiu grabbed her younger brother and hurried away.
Back home, they exchanged brief farewells before retreating to their respective rooms.
Meanwhile, at the hospital, a burly, black-faced man dressed in a sharp suit—like a black bear—stood there.
“Master Hu...” A woman was thrown in behind him, trembling as she knelt on the ground.
“I heard that you were attending to the old director this afternoon. Care to explain?”
“Master Hu, this has nothing to do with me!” The woman’s face turned pale with fear. “I was just following your orders to serve Director Liu properly.”
“But a woman called Director Liu during the process. Then you told me to leave. What happened afterward, I truly know nothing.”
“Another woman? Who?” The gleam off the polished leather boots under the light was chilling.
Master Hu coldly grabbed the woman by her hair and lifted her like a toy.
“Master Hu, I think her name was Qin Wanqiu.”
“Qin Wanqiu? That woman from the Yan family...” Master Hu’s eyes narrowed. The two steel balls rotating in his hand suddenly stopped. As his huge palm clenched, they dented inward.
“Good for her. My brother got his teeth knocked out by that Yan Fengjia, and I haven’t even had the chance to settle the score with the Yan family.”
“And now this...”
He had used every connection and thrown in a fortune just to get close to Director Liu.
Yet on his own turf, he was beaten like this.
This completely threw his plan into chaos.
“Master Hu, calm down. The doctor just said Director Liu is not in mortal danger. He just needs proper care.”
The woman forced a smile and reached out to stroke Master Hu’s solid chest.
Master Hu ground his teeth and suddenly pinned the woman’s head beneath him.
“Foolish woman, what I’m worried about is his safety.”
“I’ve invested so much money and time in him. I care about him.”
“Master Hu, please don’t be angry,” the woman chuckled nervously and expertly unzipped her dress.
“The Yan family? Fine. Just you wait. I’m not done with you.”
Master Hu closed his eyes, his bulky face trembling with rage.
...
“Fengjia, are you asleep?”
After greeting Yan’s father, Qin Wanqiu knocked on Yan Fengjia’s door.
The room was silent.
Qin Wanqiu bit her lip. “About what happened today, I was wrong. I want to apologize. But—”
Before she could finish, Yan Fengjia suddenly pulled her inside.
Under the dim light, his strength was surprisingly strong; Qin Wanqiu was pulled directly into his embrace.
The two pressed closely together.
In the sweltering summer heat, Qin Wanqiu wore a loose nightdress. Yan Fengjia could feel her softness.
“Fengjia, what are you doing?”
Under his sword-like brows, his deep amber eyes gleamed. His sharp lips parted and he kissed her fiercely.
“Ugh...” Qin Wanqiu shivered; her eyes widened as if struck by electricity. Her soft, flowing body completely melted in his masculine embrace.
But she quickly came to her senses and shoved him away.
“Fengjia, what are you doing? I’m not that kind of woman.”
Her bare, fresh face was flushed with embarrassment and anger, still dazed from his wild, dominant kiss.
But soon she noticed something was wrong.
Yan Fengjia lay on the bed, drenched in sweat under the moonlight, his face twisted in pain.
“Fengjia, what’s wrong?” Qin Wanqiu stepped forward and touched his forehead. The burning heat made her jerk her hand away.
“Oh my god, you’re burning up! Where’s my phone? I need to call the hospital!”
She turned to grab her phone, but at that moment, Yan Fengjia let out a deeply suppressed groan of agony.
“Sister-in-law, don’t... don’t do that. I don’t want to alarm my father.”
“Fengjia, what’s going on?” Qin Wanqiu was at a loss.
“It’s nothing, don’t be afraid. It’s an old injury,” Yan Fengjia forced a smile.
Years ago, when his spinal marrow was forcibly extracted to save the heir of the Jiang family of Tiangong, it also stripped him of the Jiang family’s bloodline heritage.
Though his Sixth Master later restored the bloodline with miraculous medical arts while he was imprisoned in Phoenix Women’s Prison, a hidden ailment remained.
Whenever his anger flared, the bloodline would affect his emotions.
Last time, he nearly lost control in the prison and almost wiped out all the female inmates.
If not for several masters intervening day and night, he might have already...
Hearing that Yan Fengjia suffered from an incurable condition, Qin Wanqiu was filled with guilt.
“Is it... because of me?”
“It’s okay. With proper care, I can barely control it. Don’t worry,” Yan Fengjia reassured her.
“You’re lying! You’re trembling in pain. How... how can I help you?”
Yan Fengjia gave a bitter smile.
It wasn’t just pain—it was the beastly nature of the Jiang bloodline acting up.
The Tiangong Jiang family possessed a powerful legacy spanning five thousand years. The primal beast instincts could turn a man into a savage.
“I... understand,” Qin Wanqiu bit her lips hard, her eyes moist with tears, and she moved closer to his burning body, as if about to melt into it.
“Fengjia, this stays between us. Don’t tell anyone else.”
As her nightdress slipped down her smooth legs, that night was destined to be unforgettable.
...
The next morning, Yan Fengjia awoke with a start at the sound of his phone ringing.
Sweat drenched his body, fragments of memories with Qin Wanqiu flashing through his mind.
“Was that a dream or did it really happen?” He gasped.
If it was real, wouldn’t that mean he took advantage of Qin Wanqiu?
Just then, Qin Wanqiu’s voice came from outside.
“Fengjia, are you up? I washed your clothes.”
The door was knocked, then she entered smiling, hanging his shirt in the wardrobe.
She glanced back, “Why are you staring at me?”
“Sister-in-law, yesterday... I didn’t do anything weird, did I?”
Qin Wanqiu chuckled softly. “What do you mean by weird?”
Yan Fengjia was momentarily stunned, then felt a weight lift from his chest.
“Someone’s calling you. Aren’t you going to answer?”
His phone kept ringing. Qin Wanqiu pouted to remind him.
Only then did Yan Fengjia notice the caller ID: Gu Qinghan. Without hesitation, he answered.
“Qinghan, what’s up?”
“Why, can’t I call if there’s nothing going on?”
Yan Fengjia fell silent.
“Alright, I’m just teasing. It’s good news.”
“My dad managed to raise just over five hundred million in cash. The remaining eight hundred million was secured through connections. We’ve barely managed to cover it.”
“But the other party wants to meet you in person. You’d better come quickly and don’t be late.”
“Who is it?” Yan Fengjia frowned.
The money from Junlin Group was already in hand; there should be no need for more.
Yet Gu Qinghan gave no explanation and hung up.
Yan Fengjia sighed helplessly.
After all, it was Gu Cangfeng’s goodwill. He couldn’t afford to disappoint him.
“Better to go and clarify things,” Yan Fengjia said, preparing to leave.
“Sister-in-law, I’m skipping breakfast. I have to go out for a bit.”
“Oh, okay,” Qin Wanqiu nodded.
Watching Yan Fengjia walk away, Qin Wanqiu’s smile faded.
In its place was exhaustion and the sharp pain in her body.
Last night’s passion left her feeling as if she had been torn apart by that stubborn bull of a man. Walking now was a painful limp.
Once Yan Fengjia was far enough away, Qin Wanqiu quickly searched under the bed.
“Found it! That was close. Just as I thought, it was here.”
She sighed with relief, pulling out a white lace garment from under the bed and hurriedly stuffing it into her pocket.
