Chapter 57: Do You Think He’s Unaware of What You’ve Done?
Xu Sian placed Qiao Xu on the office desk, pulling her close. “You little rascal, come here.”
A Yi lowered his head as he approached them. “Brother, I was wrong.”
“Who are you talking to?” Xu Sian pinched Qiao Xu’s waist. “Sit properly.”
Qiao Xu’s ears flushed red enough to bleed.
Last night in the kitchen, he said “Zuba” countless times.
“Sis-in-law, I was wrong. I didn’t recognize you just now.”
Qiao Xu forced a smile. “I really am not your sister-in-law. Just call me Assistant Qiao.”
“Ouch!!”
Xu Sian’s eyes flickered with panic and unease. “You are, my dear sister-in-law.”
“This is A Yi, his surname is…”
A Yi looked up, disdainful. “Brother, my name’s Chang Yi. You still can’t remember after four years?”
Qiao Xu was a little taken by his looks, a smile tugging at her lips. “Hello, I’m Qiao Xu, your brother’s assistant.”
“I’m his wife,” he asserted his claim. “A Yi, from now on you follow your sister-in-law.”
Qiao Xu paused. “No need. Why would I need a bodyguard as an assistant?”
Chang Yi took a few steps back and resumed eating cake on the sofa.
“Qiao Qiao, A Yi is very capable. I feel safer if he’s with you.”
“Because of the Shen family. Shen Zhiwei treats me like an enemy. She’s been up to a lot lately, and I’m worried.”
Qiao Xu nodded softly, tapping her fingers on the documents. “President Xu, please sign.”
As Qiao Xu was about to leave with the contract, Chang Yi asked, “Brother, where will I be staying?”
She glanced back at the man reviewing the contract.
Xu Sian gave an address.
Chang Yi finished the cake in a few bites, grabbed his milk tea, and said, “Then I’ll go adjust my jet lag.”
The apartment Xu Sian had bought a few days ago was right beneath where Qiao Xu lived.
Only after Chang Yi left did Qiao Xu speak. “I advise you to have some shame. Don’t force me to slap you in front of others.”
Xu Sian pressed her against the desk, coaxing, “No shame, baby. Try it here. Hmm?”
“I’d rather try your mother. Don’t you have visitors here?”
“Then on your desk. It’s a bit small, but that’s okay. I’ll be gentle, won’t break you apart.”
Qiao Xu: …
Crazy. Absolutely insane. His brain must be lemon yellow.
Chang Yi became Qiao Xu’s exclusive driver, ferrying her to and from work every day, then going to act as a son to Qiao’s mother.
Every day, he spoiled her to the point she was utterly flustered.
When Qiao Xu came home from work, she saw her mother smiling brightly from being pampered. “Mom, I’m home.”
Her mother glanced at her but kept talking to Chang Yi.
Qiao Xu: …
Once again, I’m the outsider.
“Why did you come back alone? Where’s Xiao An?”
Qiao Xu: ????
“Can’t I come back alone? Isn’t this my home?”
Her mother called Chang Yi to the kitchen for dishes. “Don’t you work together? You’re Xiao An’s assistant. He’s so busy. You’re just an assistant, so you get off work earlier?”
Qiao Xu washed her hands and sat at the dining table. “He’s the boss. Whatever he earns, I earn the same. Top-tier beasts have to clock out too.”
At that moment, Xu Sian sat in a private room. When the door opened, his expression darkened.
“Did Xu Shiran send you here to discuss cooperation with me?”
Shen Zhiwei sat opposite him. “Sian, we’ve known each other since childhood. I’m still your sister-in-law.”
“I’m the CEO’s wife. Whether it’s me or my husband, what’s the difference?”
Xu Sian threw down his chopsticks. “If it were him, I could still eat. If it’s you, I want to vomit.”
“Shen Zhiwei, you’re quite something, making Xu Shiran a father without knowing.”
His smile was cruel as his fingers idly spun the glass turntable on the table.
Shen Zhiwei’s eyes darkened, her fierce face twisted with a smile. She stood and approached Xu Sian. “I even said the child in my belly was yours.”
“Sian, if you had slept with me four years ago, none of this would have happened.”
Xu Sian slid his chair back. “Don’t come near me. I’m allergic to fake b*tches.”
“Such a proper lady, yet you chased after someone to patch your virginity. Among the famous heiresses of Luocheng, Miss Shen is quite outstanding.”
Shen Zhiwei leaned on the table. “Xu Sian, do you think if Qiao Xu had been gang-raped, would she stand out too?”
Bang!
The loud noise startled Shen Zhiwei. Before she could react, her neck was grabbed.
“Dare to touch her, your whole family dies.”
“Shen Zhiwei, you knew four years ago I was obsessively in love with Qiao Xu. Why provoke me? If you want to enrage me, your goal is achieved.”
Shen Zhiwei’s face flushed; her manicured nails dug into Xu Sian’s hand, leaving deep scratches.
He shrugged her off with disgust.
She realized the loud noise was Xu Sian flipping the glass turntable off the table.
Picking up his phone and jacket, Xu Sian left, glancing back at Shen Zhiwei slumped in her chair.
“Shen Zhiwei, do you think Xu Shiran doesn’t know what you’ve done?”
Shen Zhiwei stood there stunned and terrified as a waiter came in with the card reader.
“Miss, please settle the bill.”
Shen Zhiwei trembled as she took out her phone and paid a bill of over a hundred thousand.
Though furious inside, she knew she had no leverage to confront Xu Sian right now.
Outside the restaurant, in the parking lot, Xu Sian sat behind the wheel, a cigarette between his fingers resting against the window.
The restaurant manager ran up. “President Xu, she paid.”
Xu Sian loosened his fingers; the cigarette butt dropped to the ground. “Got it. Tell your company president to give you a bonus.”
“Thank you, President Xu.”
Shen Zhiwei stumbled out of the restaurant in a daze.
[You think Xu Shiran doesn’t know what you’ve done?]
He knows?
Then why cooperate with her charade?
Before Shen Zhiwei got into her car, a man in a hat and mask approached.
“Miss, all the photos have been taken. Want me to post them?”
Shen Zhiwei sneered. “Post them.”
“Also buy two million in trending searches.”
“And — the money?”
She transferred the money and left the parking lot.
When Xu Sian returned to the apartment, he saw Chang Yi sprawled on the sofa, playing a game.
“Brother, you’re back.”
“Why are you here?”
Chang Yi tossed a strawberry into his mouth. “Sister is helping godmother pack up.”
“Sister?”
“Godmother?”
Xu Sian laughed in disbelief. Only a few days and this guy has invented a new identity?
His own identity was earned through trickery, threats, and muscle.
“Yeah, godmother said I have a sweet mouth, no family. Since you’re my brother anyway, being her godson works perfectly.”
Xu Sian threw his suit on the sofa. “So, you’re not my brother anymore but my brother-in-law?”
“What’s the difference? I still call you brother.”
Chang Yi’s eyes landed on Xu Sian’s arm. He jumped up from the sofa. “Damn, brother, you’ve been cheating on me. I’m telling my sister.”
“No wonder I smelled that pungent perfume.”
“You’re finished. I’m tattling.”
