Chapter 17: Why Do You Always Make Me Angry?

Uchiha Madara was defeated!
It was an unsurprising loss.
Even though Chu Yang already knew how it would end, he couldn’t help but feel pity for him. From the very beginning, it was impossible for Uchiha Madara to match someone as extraordinary as Senju Hashirama.
Why was Madara so obsessed later on with obtaining Hashirama’s cells? It wasn’t just to gain the power of the Rinnegan, but also to inherit that terrifying regenerative ability.
Compared to Senju Hashirama’s healing factor, most tailed beasts probably couldn’t hold a candle to it.
After Uchiha Madara’s defeat, Senju Hashirama did not kill him. Instead, he once again asked Madara to cooperate and form an alliance, hoping the two could build a peaceful village together.
Madara lay on the ground, his expression complex. He murmured, “The Uchiha clan has lost, and so have I.”
Even without this battle, the Uchiha would have met the same fate. It was the inevitable trend; they had no chance.
As long as his younger brother Izuna was still alive, Madara had not yet succumbed to obsession. After a moment’s hesitation, he finally nodded in agreement.
At the same time, Chu Yang clearly sensed the killing intent emanating from Senju Tobirama. It was obvious he was deeply dissatisfied with his older brother’s actions.
Why didn’t he kill Uchiha Madara?
That man was destined to be a source of unrest!
Senju Tobirama saw further than Hashirama. What he feared was not just Madara himself, but the entire Uchiha clan!
Unless the Senju clan was willing to relinquish its position as the dominant family, the Uchiha would rebel sooner or later because their power was simply too great.
No powerful clan would willingly submit to another!
If it weren’t for Senju Hashirama—this monster—the Senju clan might have been the ones defeated today.
“Teacher, don’t worry about the Uchiha clan. This family isn’t united. Each head of the clan rose to power through their own strength. We just need to continuously sow division and pull them apart. The Uchiha will never grow strong.”
The youthful voice suddenly snapped Senju Tobirama out of his anger. He looked thoughtfully at Chu Yang.
Senju Tobirama asked, “If it were you, what would you do?”

Chu Yang smiled and said, “Create a department with a seemingly high status but no real power. Raise them up, have them carry out missions with extremely low survival rates.”
“Let them bask in the praise and glory of heroes while willingly going to their deaths… or rather, sacrifices.”
“You could call it a sophisticated form of moral coercion.”
“Moral coercion?” Senju Tobirama muttered this unfamiliar phrase, his eyes glinting slightly. He couldn’t deny Chu Yang’s perspective was interesting.
But after careful thought, Tobirama shook his head. “You’re oversimplifying. Madara isn’t a fool. He’d see right through your little scheme. It’s better to limit their power from the start and gradually weaken them until they can no longer resist.”
Chu Yang explained, “This plan must begin with emotional manipulation. We need to make the Uchiha clan feel a sense of belonging toward the village the clan leader is about to establish. If they become marginalized, they will only cling to each other more tightly and grow increasingly united against external pressure.”
“Divide them emotionally… create a sense of belonging… moral coercion… dying under a hero’s halo…” Senju Tobirama closed his eyes as Chu Yang’s voice echoed in his mind. His ideas were strange, even a bit unsettling upon reflection.
There’s an old saying: the softest blade can cut the deepest, especially if it’s a rusty one…
“Using beautiful emotions as bait—that’s downright playing with people’s hearts,” Tobirama suddenly narrowed his eyes. “You’d better count yourself lucky you’re from the Senju clan, or I’d be the first to kill you.”
Chu Yang pouted. “Teacher, that’s unfair. I’m only giving you ideas because you looked troubled. Isn’t this just biting the hand that feeds you?”
“Hmph!” Tobirama’s lips twitched into a slight smile. Chu Yang’s fresh perspective lifted his spirits considerably.
He had a vague feeling this method was far more vicious—and fitting—than openly oppressing the Uchiha.
It avoided conflict with his older brother Hashirama over the Uchiha clan, truly killing two birds with one stone.
At dawn, Senju Tobirama and Chu Yang returned to their base ahead of schedule. They rushed to the dungeon and systematically released the Uchiha prisoners.
The sealing jutsu remained intact; freeing them was only to allow doctors to treat their injuries.
Next, they would wait for the Uchiha clan to come to claim their people. After all, with Hashirama and Madara pushing for alliance, the union of the two families was a foregone conclusion. Offering small concessions early on was a wise move to win hearts and minds.
Senju Tobirama’s prestige within the clan was so high that no one questioned his unilateral decision to release the enemies.
This left Chu Yang in awe.
“Senju Tobirama, what exactly are you trying to do?” Uchiha Izuna approached him, perplexed. He had no clue what to make of this move.

Senju Tobirama glanced at him coolly and said, “The Senju and Uchiha clans have already agreed to negotiate. Releasing you is only to facilitate those talks.”
“Why negotiate when you hold such a strong advantage?” Uchiha Izuna asked eagerly. “Did Hashirama defeat my brother?”
“Wake up! Even if they fought a hundred times, Madara could never beat my brother!” Tobirama scoffed. “Madara lost, but my brother has chosen to let go of grudges and work with you. You should appreciate that.”
“Impossible!” Uchiha Izuna’s expression changed dramatically, his heart sinking. He gritted his teeth, “The Uchiha clan will never accept a truce.”
Chu Yang looked at him curiously and asked, “How long do you plan to fight? Until the Uchiha are wiped out? Even Madara lost—what chance do you have against us?”
“Pfft!”
Uchiha Izuna was speechless at Chu Yang’s retort. Overcome by anger, he spat a mouthful of blood.
This was the third time!
Each blow pierced his heart deeply!
He glared at the youth in frustration. Why is it that you never anger anyone else but me?
At dusk, Senju Hashirama and Uchiha Madara arrived together at the Senju clan’s base, followed by the previously captured Senju members.
Senju Tobirama, already prepared, handed the Uchiha clan members over to Madara.
Madara looked at Tobirama in surprise.
In his memory, Tobirama was never so easy to deal with.
Yet then Tobirama said something that shocked him:
“From now on, we are comrades.”
