Chapter 16: The Duel of the Supreme Warriors
Squatting idly in the grass, Chu Yang looked up to count the stars, but tonight thick clouds obscured the sky, making it impossible to spot a single star.
When the moonlight overhead was veiled by clouds for the third time, Chu Yang’s Observation Haki suddenly sensed two overwhelmingly powerful auras.
The intensity of these energies made Chu Yang’s heart race with alarm, forcing him to deliberately suppress his Observation Haki.
At that moment, Senju Tobirama whispered urgently in Chu Yang’s ear: “They’ve arrived!”
“Arrived!”
That simple phrase sent a jolt through Chu Yang’s heart.
Cautiously, he peeked out and finally saw the figure of Senju Hashirama.
Opposite him stood the infamous Uchiha Madara.
These destined rivals locked eyes across a small stream.
“Madara, surrender! Let’s end this pointless war together!” Senju Hashirama called out boldly. “You and I can create a peaceful world where the children of our clans can live safe and happy lives.”
“You’re still as naive as ever. Sometimes I envy you…” Madara’s expression was complex as he looked at Hashirama, shaking his head with a cold tone. “What about Izuna? Did you kill him?”
Hashirama explained, “He’s not dead.”
Upon hearing that his younger brother was alive, a faint relief flickered in Madara’s otherwise cold eyes.
“Hashirama, this war won’t end unless one of us wins today. You long for peace, but you must speak through your fists,” Madara said firmly.
Hearing this, Hashirama cast aside his last shred of hope, took a deep breath, and prepared for battle.
Madara smiled—he wanted to see Hashirama fight with all his might. Their previous clashes on the battlefield had been mere skirmishes.
In the next instant, the two figures collided, unleashing an intense battle.
Through Chu Yang’s observation, it became clear that neither Madara nor Hashirama used ninjutsu frequently; most of the fight was hand-to-hand combat.
Top-tier warriors have mastered their techniques so thoroughly that they require minimal hand seals—often only two or three—because any delay in forming seals is a glaring vulnerability to their opponent.
So far, Madara had only used fire-style jutsu to assist, while Hashirama relied solely on wood-style jutsu.
Yet, it was precisely this stripped-down, elemental combat that delivered a profound visual impact to Chu Yang.
Gradually, their speed surpassed human visual limits, reducing their forms to blurred shadows with indistinct movements.
Senju Tobirama, standing beside Chu Yang, noticed his predicament and comforted him gently.
It was inevitable—unless one possessed the Sharingan or Byakugan, special ocular powers that significantly enhance vision, ordinary sight could hardly keep pace with such elite combatants.
Even with Chu Yang’s body enhanced by wood-style chakra, he could only see slightly longer than an average person.
Their battle raged across the valley, devastating everything in its path. The earth cracked and crumbled; trees, flowers, and grasses were reduced to ash. All life was obliterated.
Chu Yang’s heart pounded wildly. Before he could react, Tobirama grabbed him and swiftly pulled him away from the battlefield’s edge.
No sooner had they left than a fireball the size of a three-story building crashed where they had just stood, its explosion shaking the ground violently.
Looking back after landing, Chu Yang saw only a blackened wasteland. Had he remained there, not even wood-style protection nor the heavens themselves could have saved him.
A cold sweat drenched Chu Yang’s back, and he shivered uncontrollably.
Tobirama laughed and said, “See that? Even a simple Great Fireball Technique can vary greatly in power depending on who wields it.”
Chu Yang couldn’t help but roll his eyes.
“Is that what you call a Great Fireball Technique? It looked more like a mushroom cloud dropping on my head!”
At that moment, Tobirama took the opportunity to teach the shaken Chu Yang. “You’re clever, but that’s your problem—you learn everything too easily and want to learn everything. In the end, you just become a fool who knows a little about everything.”
Chu Yang did not deny Tobirama’s point, but he wasn’t fighting alone. With so many clones learning and merging knowledge, the limitations of an ordinary person would not be his. His path was destined to be beyond the comprehension of mortals.
As the moon grew brighter, the battle intensified.
The trembling earth caught Chu Yang’s attention.
Looking up, he saw an indescribably colossal figure rising from the ground.
A thousand-foot-tall wooden giant blocked the moonlight like an ancient demon descending.
[Wood Release: Wood Human Technique]
Senju Hashirama stood with a grave expression atop the giant’s shoulder. At this stage of the battle, both sides had unleashed their ultimate trump cards; the outcome would be decided here and now.
Boom!
The wooden giant moved. Each step caused the entire valley to quake violently.
In front of the giant, Uchiha Madara began forming hand seals, the tomoe in his Mangekyo Sharingan spinning relentlessly.
Pushing his ocular power to the limit, Madara drained ninety percent of his chakra in one surge. Blue flames ignited from the void, coalescing into a skeletal phantom.
As the flames burned hotter, the phantom solidified, its bones forming a complete humanoid shape.
Finally, it crystallized into a colossal warrior clad in samurai armor.
This majestic warrior was the [Susanoo], matching the wooden giant’s size. Wings spread from its armored back, and it bore four arms, each wielding a sword.
Under Madara’s control, the warrior advanced toward the wooden giant, striking first with a sword slash!
The wooden giant reached out, violently grabbed the energy-forged sword, and with a powerful pull, dragged the warrior close before delivering a crushing punch.
The duel of these two titans stirred Chu Yang’s blood with excitement!
“Big brother’s definitely winning. Madara can’t maintain Susanoo for long—his ocular power is nearly maxed out,” Senju Tobirama said coldly.
Chu Yang also noticed the Susanoo’s movements slowing as it remained active longer.
Madara had accumulated numerous injuries in prior battles, while Hashirama’s superior healing made him physically far stronger.
Madara, who had exhausted himself to summon Susanoo, was now at his limit.
Tobirama sighed deeply. “How ironic—he’s now in the exact same position as the Uchiha clan was.”
With that sigh, the demonic Susanoo shattered with a thunderous crash.
