031 The New Little Fanboy, Tian Wenhan
The class group chat had been uncharacteristically lively, but the moment Tian’s mother remarked that "forced melons are never sweet," the conversation died instantly. Summer’s mother was convinced they had all snuck off into a private group to gossip, which she found utterly infuriating.
She sent a private message to Tian’s mother: "Wenhan’s mom, would you like to take Wenhan out this weekend? I’ll bring Kexuan, and our families could go out together."
The Tian family was better off than the Summer family. When they first learned that Tian Wenhan liked Xia Kexuan, the Summer family had intended to build a closer relationship with them, but Xia Kexuan had rejected the idea. To her, the Tian family meant nothing; her time was precious, and she wouldn't just let any Tom, Dick, or Harry into her inner circle.
Summer’s mother waited for ages, but there was no reply. After a long while, Tian’s mother finally responded: "Oh, I’m so sorry. Xuanxuan really doesn’t like our Hanhan! I’ve put my face out there to be slapped too many times, and as a mother, it breaks my heart. Please, just let us be."
Summer’s mother almost threw her phone in a rage.
Only then did Fan Lina realize that Shen Zhihan wasn’t in the group at all. She clicked to add him as a friend, but he ignored the request. She tried again, adding a note: "An’an’s father, this is Fan Lina, An’an’s homeroom teacher."
This time, Shen Zhihan accepted immediately. Fan Lina promptly sent over photos of An’an.
"An’an’s father, An’an is very well-behaved and has adjusted perfectly. The other children like her a lot, so please don’t worry. I’d like to add you to our class group; we post notifications about activities there. Would you like to join?"
"Fine, add me."
Seeing the contact name "An’an’s father," Shen Zhihan couldn't help but curl the corner of his lips. Soon, he joined the group with the display name "An’an’s father."
Fan Lina introduced him: "Welcome, An’an’s father, to our group. And welcome little Shen Nian’an to our Sunflower Class Five."
Without a word of greeting, Shen Zhihan sent a large red envelope. Fan Lina hesitated, but seeing the other parents frantically scrambling to claim it, she felt she had to join in. Seeing the enormous amount, she was stunned; the rich were truly unapologetically extravagant. Free money was the most tempting lure, and even these wealthy, elite parents were snatching it up like crazy. Shen Zhihan sent ten such envelopes in a row before stopping, then retreated into silence. He ignored every mention directed his way, and even when other parents tried to add him privately, he declined them all.
Shen Zhihan sent a message: "Teacher Fan, please contact me by phone for future matters. I rarely check the group."
Fan Lina: "Understood! Boss!"
She immediately retracted the message, blushing. Why did she feel like his subordinate when talking to him?
Fan Lina: "Understood, An’an’s father."
She made sure to send the photos of An’an directly to Shen Zhihan’s private messages. Looking at the pictures of An’an at kindergarten, Shen Zhihan’s mouth curved upward again. He examined each photo carefully, with the same intensity one might reserve for signing a multi-billion dollar contract.
The Wen’an Kindergarten was quiet; the children were fast asleep, even Xia Kexuan. She hadn’t wanted to nap, but trapped in a child’s body with an adult’s soul, she couldn't fight the physiological needs of the small frame and soon drifted off.
When nap time ended, the children sat up in a daze, some putting on socks, others tidying their clothes and blankets. Some yawned and scratched their heads, making their already messy hair look like little bird nests.
An’an woke up, reached out with her eyes closed, and instinctively called out, "Daddy."
Someone next to her chuckled. "An’an, does your daddy wake you up at home every day?"
"No, I wake up by myself. I just thought I was at home; I was dreaming." An’an cleared her head, sat on the edge of the bed, and swung her little feet.
The teachers helped the children who struggled with self-care to get dressed. An’an, however, was exceptionally independent. She neatly straightened her dress, put on her socks and shoes, and folded her blanket into a perfect square. If Qu Bowen had been there, he would have been amazed. But he wasn’t; only her new little fan, Tian Wenhan, was there.
Seeing An’an’s perfectly folded blanket, Tian Wenhan exclaimed, "Wow! An’an, you’re so capable! You can fold blankets? What else can you do?"
When asked what she could do, the list was long. She recounted them like a pro: "I can feed the piglets, the chicks, and the rabbits. I can do laundry and help cook. Folding a blanket is a piece of cake!"
"Wow! An’an, you’re so amazing!"
The teachers glanced at her in surprise. The little girl looked so delicate, yet she could do so much! Since everyone attending this kindergarten came from wealthy or prominent families, they wondered how An’an’s parents could ever bear to let her do such chores.
An’an’s braids had become messy during her nap, so Fan Lina redid them for her.
Gao Feifei was uncharacteristically quick to wake up today. Teachers usually dreaded waking her, as her mother was extremely doting and demanded that Feifei be left to sleep until she woke up naturally. Whenever the other children were up, Feifei would still be snoozing. Because of her constant oversleeping, she often missed out on being in class photos, which would lead her mother to complain to the staff.
Seeing Gao Feifei wake up on her own today was a pleasant surprise. "Feifei, you’re so good today! You woke up with everyone else. You’ve made progress!" Fan Lina praised her without hesitation.
What child doesn't love praise? But Feifei had something on her mind and felt a bit guilty; she blushed under the teacher’s compliment. Xia Kexuan glanced at Feifei and sneered internally. She knew exactly what Feifei was planning—it was well worth the psychological suggestions she had been planting.
Xia Kexuan was also very well-behaved, not causing a bit of trouble. She stood by Teacher Fang, helping out.
The little girls’ braids were all finished. The boys, whose hair needed no styling, were busy chasing each other around, having a blast. The girls, now finished, joined in the play.
Since An’an had been the first to get ready, her hair was done first. Tian Wenhan immediately approached her, shyly wanting to hold her little hand. An’an had never held hands with other children before, but seeing how embarrassed Tian Wenhan was, she took the initiative and reached out her little hand.
"Tian Wenhan, where do you want to take me?"
