Volume One, Chapter Six: Rising Up!

It was said that Chu Lingtian had spent five years in a high-security prison. He had just been released before coming here. Five years without a woman—he must have been suffering greatly from restraint. Jiang Wanbei bit her lip lightly, thinking, This guy… is way too rude.
Yet after some thought, she undid her clothes, revealing her snow-white skin before her eyes. Well then. After all, she was already a dying woman; going wild once wouldn’t hurt. At the very least…
She didn’t actually dislike Chu Lingtian; in fact, she even had some affection for him. It was a mutual devotion.
“This is my first time…” she whispered, blushing, her head lowered.
“Be gentle with me,” Jiang Wan murmured, continuing to remove the last of her clothing.
But just then, Chu Lingtian grabbed her hand, stopping her from going further.
“What are you doing? Just take off your jacket. It’s hard to transmit my Yang energy through clothes.”
“Ah?” Jiang Wan was stunned.
“Ah what? Don’t tell me you think I want you?” Chu Lingtian’s eyes narrowed.
“You scoundrel!” Jiang Wan shot him an angry glare. This guy was deliberately teasing her.
“I need to first control the coldness inside your body,” he said seriously, no longer joking. “So you’ll know I’m not lying.”
Jiang Wan was born with an extremely Yin constitution. Only by uniting Yin and Yang through intercourse could their mutual fatal predicament be broken.
Chu Lingtian didn’t mind, but Jiang Wan had been ill for a long time without treatment, leaving her body very weak. If they were to unite now, she wouldn’t survive.
Moreover, Chu Lingtian had no intention of taking advantage of her.
They could meet properly, fall in love properly, and unite properly.
But before that, he wanted to show Jiang Wan that he was capable.
Chu Lingtian closed his eyes, gathering the power of Yang energy in his palm. After locating several key acupuncture points, he placed his hand gently on her skin.
…
Two hours later.
Chu Lingtian panted heavily as he withdrew his energy.
Jiang Wan’s body was still too frail; he dared not transmit the energy too quickly. But it had exhausted him completely.
At this moment, Jiang Wan’s face was full of joy; her pale skin had blossomed with a rosy flush.
“Is it over?” she murmured, reluctant to stop.
“Try standing up,” Chu Lingtian said.
“Can I?” Though uncertain, Jiang Wan tried to push herself up from the wheelchair.
She wobbled as she stood.
Though her body trembled relentlessly, Jiang Wan’s entire perception of herself was overturned.

“I’m standing?” she exclaimed.
“I’m standing!” Jiang Wan was overwhelmed with emotion.
Tears of joy streamed down her face. “I’m standing.”
She collapsed into Chu Lingtian’s arms. “I’m standing.”
Since childhood, she had always been confined to a wheelchair. She had never experienced what it felt like to stand up.
“But it’s only temporary. Usually, it’s best to still use the wheelchair,” Chu Lingtian explained.
To completely cure her, they would ultimately have to complement each other’s Yin and Yang.
“Thank you.”
“Chu Lingtian! You’re amazing!” Jiang Wan was so elated she barely heard him.
All she knew was that she could stand up now, no longer disabled, no longer forced to endure those pitiful or hateful glances.
Smack!
In her excitement, she planted a quick kiss on Chu Lingtian’s cheek.
Bang!
The villa door was pushed open.
A stout woman entered with a displeased expression. The patriarch wanted to see the two of them, but the fourth son and his wife didn’t want to come themselves, so they sent her instead.
But upon entering, she caught the two of them locked in an embrace, and Jiang Wan was almost half-naked, clinging to Chu Lingtian.
“Indecent!”
“Immoral!”
“You two filthy lovers!”
Seeing Chu Lingtian drenched in sweat and Jiang Wan flushed all over, as a woman herself, the stout woman immediately recognized this state as one clearly after intimate contact.
She was furious. “You haven’t even married, and this is how you behave? What kind of conduct is this?”
“Auntie, Lingtian is treating my illness. Don’t misunderstand,” Jiang Wan hurriedly said, realizing her inappropriate behavior. She stepped back and put her clothes back on.
“Who the hell would believe that! You’re stuck together like glue—treating an illness?”
“Do you take me for a fool?”
The stout woman fumed.
“No need to explain to her,” Chu Lingtian said indifferently. “You’ve always been my woman.”
“You’re the one who’s the scoundrel! Stop talking nonsense!” Jiang Wan glared at him. How could he always speak so bluntly and carelessly? Didn’t he care what others thought?
“Wait…”
The stout woman suddenly realized Jiang Wan was standing.
“You can stand?”
“You really treated her?”
She was shocked beyond belief.
After over twenty years in a wheelchair, she was truly standing now?
“Let’s go see your grandfather,” Chu Lingtian said, ignoring the stout woman, taking Jiang Wan into the estate.
Jiang Rulong’s residence was at the very center of the estate. There stood a massive villa covering several acres, equipped with a complete medical system—almost as good as a top-tier sanatorium.
“Such luxury.”
“They might as well have moved the sanatorium into the house.”
Chu Lingtian stood at the entrance, gazing at the magnificent villa, quietly impressed.
“Miss, Master, please come inside. The patriarch has only just awakened,” Butler Wu invited them in.
Wait—
“Miss… you?”
He suddenly noticed Jiang Wan was walking in on her own.
Shock rose in his heart as he glanced oddly at Chu Lingtian. Could it be that Master Chu had cured her?
Who exactly was this guy?
Lost in thought, the group arrived at the villa’s room.
“The patriarch is here,” Butler Wu said before stepping back.
On the big bed lay an elderly man with white hair, weakly propped up.
Beside him was a man in his sixties attending to Jiang Rulong’s convalescence.
“National Medical Master Zhang Wudao?”
Chu Lingtian frowned. He instantly recognized the elderly healer tending to Jiang Rulong.
“Eh? Young man, you know me?” The old man’s voice was faint but still caught.
“Hm?”
Before they could speak further, Jiang Rulong, eyes half-closed, suddenly sprang up, his old eyes wide open. “Jiang Wan? How are you standing?”
“Grandfather, it was Lingtian who healed me,” Jiang Wan answered truthfully.
“Him?”
Jiang Rulong’s gaze swept over Chu Lingtian.
Though frail, his eyes shone with a sharp light, revealing that he had once been a formidable figure.
“You can heal too, boy?”
Jiang Wan was born disabled— even Zhang Wudao had been unable to treat her at all, yet this guy had succeeded?
“Old Jiang, wait a moment.”
Zhang Wudao seemed to sense something.
He hurried over and grabbed Jiang Wan’s sleeve, looking at the faint redness on her arm—the location of the Mingzhong acupoint.
“Miss Jiang, please remove your outer garment,” Zhang Wudao said with urgency. He wanted to see how far the redness extended.
“No need.”
Just as Jiang Wan was about to take off her jacket, Chu Lingtian pressed her hand down.
Then he said calmly, “You have sharp eyes. As you can see, these are the marks of the Ghost Doctor’s Nine Hands.”
To better transmit his Yang energy to Jiang Wan, Chu Lingtian had used the Ghost Doctor’s Nine Hands technique.
“Ghost Doctor’s Nine Hands!”
“Boy, who are you?” Zhang Wudao’s gaze burned fiercely on Chu Lingtian.
