The powerful aura made Brother Dog instinctively lower his head.

“President!”

He quickly stood up from his stool, bowing respectfully with his head down.

“Hmm.”

Azure Dragon nodded.

Then his sharp gaze swept across the room. When it landed on Chu Lingtian, he was momentarily stunned before striding over.

Miss Huang had already given him a heads-up, saying the young master was here to make an appearance recently.

She had even sent a photo of Chu Lingtian.

“Kid, so what if you’re a master?”

“The president can slap you dead with one hand!”

Brother Dog sneered smugly.

“Greetings, Young Master!”

Unexpectedly, the next second, Azure Dragon knelt down before Chu Lingtian.

“No need!”

But Chu Lingtian stopped him with a cold glance. The chill was like a plunge into an ice cellar, freezing Azure Dragon to the core.

He thought, no wonder the young master exudes such immense pressure with just one look.

“What is the purpose of the Black Dragon Society you founded?” Chu Lingtian asked.

“To protect Miss Huang,” Azure Dragon replied honestly, not understanding why the young master asked.

Huang Yancheng was his benefactor; he had been by her side for over a decade.

They used to be in Jinling.

After Huang Yancheng moved to Jiangnan, he led his men to establish roots there.

“To protect Huang Yancheng, huh? Then let me ask you this,” Chu Lingtian said expressionlessly, “Does protecting Huang Yancheng require your men to do menial tasks, rob, or abduct local women?”

“Ah?” Azure Dragon was taken aback.

“You sure have quite the swagger. Did the Heavenly Secrets Sect ever have you run amok, abduct, or loot?”

The Heavenly Secrets Sect’s origins dated back hundreds of years.

From its inception, every deed they undertook was grand and magnificent.

Centuries ago, they suppressed the rebellion of the ten Atlantis kingdoms with decisive force.

They shone brilliantly in Mesopotamian civilization, pioneering arcane arts and leading trends.

In the Third World’s War of the Gods, they acted as agents, confronting the Ross family, astonishing the mortal realm.

Though in recent decades the Heavenly Secrets Sect had gone underground, its name forgotten, they had never engaged in such lawless, villainous acts.

“Ah?”

Azure Dragon was stunned by the question.

“Still ‘ah’?” Chu Lingtian chuckled.

Azure Dragon shuddered all over, suddenly looking toward Mad Dog.

Mad Dog was trembling; he had overheard the conversation between Chu Lingtian and the president.

Thud!

Mad Dog dropped to his knees. “President, I was wrong, I was wrong!”

“Young Master, I was wrong, I was wrong!” He quickly looked at Chu Lingtian, begging for mercy.

“This man was recruited during Black Dragon Society’s expansion,” Azure Dragon explained. “He was a two-time underground boxing champion in Jiangnan, so I brought him in.”

Apart from Azure Dragon’s trusted men, most others were locally recruited, including remnants of former underground factions and capable individuals.

“It’s my fault,” Azure Dragon said, glancing at the hotel where Wang Shiyan was staying. He had an idea of what had happened. “I will personally apologize and compensate.”

“No need, I’ll handle it,” Chu Lingtian shook his head. Since Azure Dragon was unaware, it was forgivable. He continued, “Within three days, purge the Black Dragon Society. Don’t use those who shouldn’t be involved.”

“I will!” Azure Dragon nodded earnestly.

“And what about him?” Azure Dragon pointed at Mad Dog.

“He’s at fault…”

“I truly was wrong!”

Mad Dog was so scared he lost control.

“Send him on his way,” Chu Lingtian ordered.

“Understood!” Azure Dragon hesitated briefly before snapping back to his senses. He waved his hand, and his men dragged Mad Dog into a vehicle.

They would deal with him after leaving.

“You may leave now.”

“I’ll contact you if needed.”

Chu Lingtian noticed too many onlookers, which was undesirable; he disliked being the center of attention.

The fat manager, stabbed in the abdomen, was being carried into the vehicle by Chu’s cousin. Just as they were about to leave, Chu Lingtian held the closing door.

“What are you doing?” his cousin trembled.

Chu Lingtian glanced inside and saw the fat man was only pretending to be dead with his eyes shut.

He sneered coldly. “I’m Chu Lingtian. Next time, come directly to me. I’m temporarily staying at Ziyun Villa. Remember my contact, alright?”

“Got it, got it,” the fat man stammered, realizing his ruse was seen through.

After everyone left, Chu Lingtian helped Wang Shiyan clean up the mess in the hotel.

He apologized sincerely, “Shiyan, sorry for the trouble. I’ll add you on WeChat later and compensate you.”

“You can add me, but skip the compensation. We’re moving out anyway.”

“Moving out?” Chu Lingtian was surprised.

“Ah, nothing. Thanks anyway. If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t know what to do today.”

Wang Shiyan still felt shaken.

When the city inspectors came to demolish their hotel, though she bravely resisted, she had been terrified inside.

Fortunately, Chu Lingtian was there.

Otherwise, she truly wouldn’t have known what to do.

Chu Lingtian called for a car with Jiang Wan in tow.

“Master, heading to Ziyun Villa.”

“Wait a moment. Stop at the intersection ahead, I have something to handle.”

After some thought, Chu Lingtian told the driver to stop.

……

Inside the hotel, Wang Shiyan wiped sweat from her brow.

She checked her phone and saw Chu Lingtian had already added her as a friend.

He had also transferred 100,000 yuan, noting, “Sorry, Shiyan. Consider this compensation.”

“No need!” Wang Shiyan replied quickly, smiling happily.

“Shiyan, Shiyan,” she mused.

This guy hadn’t even added his surname and yet sounded so approachable.

“What are you smiling at? Hurry up and pack! We’re moving today!” Wang Lianhua urged, already having packed a lot.

“Huh? Moving again? Everything’s settled, Brother Chu handled it,” Wang Shiyan said.

“Stop calling him Chu Lingtian! You foolish girl, I’m telling you, don’t even think about it. He’s no good,” Wang Lianhua snorted.

“Mom! If it weren’t for him, who knows what would’ve happened today!” Wang Shiyan explained helplessly.

“Nonsense! Didn’t you hear what the Black Dragon Society’s leader called Chu Lingtian? ‘Young Master!’ I suspect Chu Lingtian is the real head of the Black Dragon Society.”

“Ah?”

“Heh,” Wang Lianhua chuckled, analyzing, “They’re all in cahoots. That blond guy harassing you? Definitely Chu Lingtian’s doing. He’s creating a scenario to be the hero who saves the beauty and wins your heart. Silly girl, can’t you see through that?”

“Mom, no way. Chu Lingtian isn’t like that. He’s a good person. Even back in school, he was nice,” Wang Shiyan defended.

“Get real. People change. He’s been to jail. A criminal who’s been jailed—what good can he be?” Wang Lianhua scoffed.

“But Mom, what’s the point of being a hero if he already has a fiancée?”

“Men never tire of women. Having many wives and concubines is every man’s dream. That’s just how men are,” Wang Lianhua said with a tone full of judgment.

Wang Shiyan refused to believe her mother’s analysis. She couldn’t imagine Chu Lingtian being like that.

“In any case, keep your distance from him… No, better yet, move out quickly. Once you move, he won’t be able to bother you anymore.”

Wang Lianhua nodded emphatically.

Suddenly, she caught a glimpse of Wang Shiyan’s phone and her eyes lit up. “He transferred you money? Why didn’t you accept it?”

Before Wang Shiyan could answer, she quickly clicked confirm. “Didn’t he say it was compensation? Just take it!”
