Chapter 27: Resurrecting the Emperors of All Ages?
Today, over thirty Supremes have fully awakened. If the Lunar Emperor were to suppress them, even having lived into his fourth life, he could only ensure the safe evacuation of a few; he could not emerge unscathed from such a siege. Furthermore, these Supremes, though they have not yet sublimated to their peak, possess increasingly formidable auras, their withered and decaying bloodlines constantly rejuvenating. Should a chaotic war erupt, a battle involving over thirty Supremes would surely shatter the Nine Heavens and Ten Earths, leaving not one in a trillion living beings alive.
The Lunar Emperor sighed, shaking his head. A road of moonlight formed beneath his feet, and with a flash, he departed from the desolate borders of the universe.
Immediately thereafter, the thirty-plus awakened Supremes scattered across the cosmos clearly sensed a peerless, powerful, and unhidden aura—one at the absolute peak of its vitality—traversing the stars along a path of lunar radiance. This aura carried the pressure of the Ultimate Path, ruthlessly sweeping over every forbidden zone of life. The Lunar Emperor’s intent followed: "I am the Lunar Emperor, returned to this world. Should anyone dare to incite a dark turmoil, I, the Lunar Emperor, will drag the instigator to the grave before I fall in battle!"
"If you are confident you can kill me, by all means, try. Let us see who is truly seeking death!"
Cold snorts and wary gazes emanated from the forbidden zones. Although these Supremes had recently divided up treasures suspected to have fallen from the Immortal Realm, gradually restoring their states, they knew well that having once severed their own paths to seal themselves, their realms had fallen from the peak of perfection. They could not confront a Sovereign of the Ultimate Path in his prime. Even if they were to sublimate to their peak, it would only be a temporary restoration with inherent flaws.
Even if they joined forces to hunt him down, facing a powerhouse who was not only inexplicably formidable but also at his peak, they would pay a heavy price. It was no empty threat that he would take a few of them with him, and those who survived would surely suffer wounds that might never heal. Moreover, the Path to Immortality would open in a few years. Having waited hundreds of thousands of years for this, no matter the grudges held, none wished to see their condition decline before that moment. Having forsaken everything for the sake of immortality, they would be filled with eternal regret should they miss the path due to a weakened state.
...
After patrolling the universe, the path of cold lunar radiance paused briefly as it passed by the Ziwei Star. The Lunar Emperor looked upon the planet with complex eyes and sighed, "The Lunar Divine Sect, the Solar Divine Sect... the lineages we left behind have been slaughtered to the last? Truly..."
At the same time, countless cultivators on the Ziwei Star watched in horror as a bright moon rose in the middle of the day.
Moonlight poured down like water. As the moon’s phases shifted, pinpricks of light transformed into a force of chilling slaughter, spreading along the threads of causality and memory. In an instant, the faction known as the Lunar Divine Sect, along with those who had exterminated the descendants of the Lunar and Solar Emperors and usurped their scriptures, were utterly annihilated.
After witnessing this, the Lunar Emperor cast his gaze toward a corner of the Ziwei Star. Deep within the pitch-black sea-eye of the North Sea, the Fusang Tree—an immortal medicine—stood like a sun hanging in the sky. Beneath it lay a sarcophagus containing a human skin stained with a single drop of golden blood, within which flickered the faint remnants of a soul.
"The Solar Emperor," he sighed softly, "a truly remarkable successor... perhaps..."
Recalling the strange existence of Fang Zheng, he frowned slightly. "Can he be brought back to life?"
With that, he stepped into the sea-eye, walking through the secret realm where the True Solar Fire burned. He arrived before the ancient Fusang tree, staring at the skin in the sarcophagus and the stone tower guarding it. He bowed deeply to the skin and transmitted his thoughts to the artifact’s spirit—the Holy Emperor’s Stone Tower. Subsequently, amidst the trembling of the tower, he took the coffin, burning with solar fire, and the stone tower with him.
"Perhaps this is an opportunity! If the Supremes who fought for the human race and all living beings throughout the ages can be resurrected, then the Nine Heavens and Ten Earths might enter a true Age of Myth."
"Perhaps even..." he mused, recalling the secrets of the Path to Immortality and the inexplicable crises hidden within the Boundary Sea, "...it may return to a prosperous era no less magnificent than the Immortal Realm itself."
The road of lunar radiance finally extended to the Big Dipper Starfield, arriving at the life-bearing planet known as the Grave of Emperors, where the Path to Immortality would open in a few years. After patrolling the major forbidden zones once more to issue his warning, the Lunar Emperor descended upon the Jiang family in the northern lands of the Big Dipper. At that moment, the Jiang family’s Emperor-level artifact, the Hengyu Furnace, had fully awakened due to the disturbances of a few days prior, standing in constant vigilance against the stirred Supremes.
Sensing the Lunar Emperor’s aura, the spirit of the Hengyu Furnace exclaimed in shock, "The Holy Emperor of the Moon!"
The Lunar Emperor nodded slightly. After stating his purpose, he arrived at the foot of an ancient mountain within the Jiang estate and looked at a girl named Jiang Tingting. This was a child who possessed the same constitution as he; he could sense that the lingering resentment he had once left behind, before fading away as he regained his clarity, had chosen this child as his successor.
Through a mysterious resonance, Jiang Tingting, who possessed the Lunar Body, stopped her cultivation in shock and looked at the Lunar Emperor, asking hesitantly, "Senior?"
The Lunar Emperor nodded slightly, then waved his hand, casting aside a severed piece of space. In an instant, a strange-looking, puppet-like blocky figure appeared abruptly before Jiang Tingting.
Meanwhile, after several minutes of immersion in darkness, Fang Zheng’s perspective finally returned to the light. Looking at the birds singing and flowers blooming, and seeing the Lunar Emperor and a young girl before him, Fang Zheng looked around with curiosity and asked, "Lunar Emperor, have we successfully returned to the Nine Heavens and Ten Earths?"
"Yes," the Lunar Emperor replied with a nod, a trace of apology on his face. "Little friend Fang Zheng, I had intended to play the perfect host, but unfortunately, the Nine Heavens and Ten Earths are currently embroiled in crisis."
After some exchange, the Lunar Emperor used Fang Zheng’s language to explain in detail the predicament facing the Nine Heavens and Ten Earths. Beside them, Jiang Tingting remained in shock, stunned by the arrival of an ancient Holy Emperor, standing frozen and unable to utter a word.
Once the conversation concluded, the Lunar Emperor bowed deeply to Fang Zheng and made a sincere request: "I have a favor to ask, if you would be willing. I wish to request some of your healing potions and Golden Apples..."
Hearing his requirements, Fang Zheng remained puzzled: "Uh, you mean to say that in this universe called the Nine Heavens and Ten Earths, there are over thirty powerful beings at your level who are evil?"
"These guys are bloodthirsty, rotten to the core, and could go off to eat people at any moment—thousands of planets at a time?"
"And you want me to help resurrect some 'good guys' to guard against these people going crazy and eating everyone?"
"Er..." Fang Zheng hesitated for a moment before answering: "I still don't quite get your cultivation world. You're powerful enough to shatter a supercluster with a single blow, yet you can only live for ten thousand years and have to eat people to extend your lives?"
"But anyway, I’ve got nothing but time, and resources are basically infinite for me, so it’s no loss. Since you want me to help resurrect those good people, then by all means, take the healing potions and resurrect them."
