Chapter Nine: The Shattered Seal and the Infinite Immortal Qi Descending into the Starry Sky

A hint of amusement surfaced in Fang Zheng’s heart. He immediately activated Spectator Mode and swiftly retreated from the increasingly chaotic area.
Once he had withdrawn a sufficient distance, he switched back to Creative Mode and began placing blocks, once again setting down Vermilion Bird and White Tiger Law Buckets.
Every time he placed a new bucket and switched to Spectator Mode, the Four Symbols Killing Array, having lost its target, would send its chains of laws into a frantic search.
Then, after he switched back to Creative Mode and the target reappeared and was locked onto once more, the chains of laws would again converge toward a single direction.
Throughout this process, the identical rune chains pouring from the Vermilion Bird and White Tiger Law Buckets—copied according to the exact same template—clashed with the array’s normally functioning runes, constantly triggering minor bugs.
After this was repeated many times, the surrounding cries of the Vermilion Bird and roars of the White Tiger grew increasingly dense, while their tones became ever stranger.
The golden-red substance that had originally been dim and restrained suddenly began to shine once more, blazing with a brilliance like that of a supernova. Its radiance continued to intensify, surging higher and higher.
In Spectator Mode, Fang Zheng’s square face remained expressionless as he silently watched the storm of rune chains, which had transformed from an orderly maelstrom into the turbulent currents it was now.
Switching back to Creative Mode, he took an Ender Pearl from his inventory and placed it in his item bar, murmuring softly, “If my calculations are correct, the system should crash very soon!”
At the same time, outside the city gates of the Immortal Ascension Road’s Great Pass, the phantoms of the Vermilion Bird and White Tiger continued their tireless assault. Following their rigid rules for eradicating intruders, they ceaselessly injected Vermilion Bird divine fire and White Tiger killing force into the array, attempting to refine the seemingly unkillable intruder.
The Four Symbols Killing Array was one of the foremost killing formations in the myriad heavens and worlds. In the ancient era, before the Immortal Realm had been shattered, it had been presided over by the Four Symbols Immortal Spirits guarding that realm: the Vermilion Bird, White Tiger, Black Tortoise, and Azure Dragon, each of whom possessed at least the strength of a True Immortal.
With their bloodline advantage, the Four Symbols Immortal Spirits were already capable of fighting quasi-Immortal Kings while merely at the True Immortal level. When they jointly deployed the Four Symbols Killing Array, they could even slay weaker Immortal Kings with ease.
However, against figures of the Immortal King level, each use of the formation required at least several centuries, and sometimes even several millennia, to expend enough power.
Only after such an immense expenditure of time could one ensure that the suppressed Immortal King would be killed completely.
But this situation was entirely different.
These were merely phantoms of laws, whose power—already no more than the peak of the human realm and only barely sustained by fragments of the Immortal Realm—formed an incomplete Four Symbols Killing Array.
Yet within the few dozen minutes since Fang Zheng had begun his actions, the killing and refining power circulating endlessly through the formation had not diminished in the slightest. Instead, it was increasing at an utterly absurd rate, seemingly out of thin air.

The immortal and divine runes operating within the formation were producing countless errors as an enormous number of duplicated rune chains poured into it.
Had the Vermilion Bird and White Tiger phantoms still been alive, they could have easily sorted out the chaos and errors in the formation’s rune operations.
They might even have reabsorbed the inexplicably multiplying killing force and replenished their own bodies with it.
Unfortunately, they were nothing more than phantoms of True Immortal laws imprinted upon the barrier of an Immortal Realm fragment. They were capable enough as puppets in battle, but sorting out errors in the formation’s rune operations was far beyond their intelligence.
Before anyone realized it, the colossal outer wall of the primordial divine mountain—vast beyond measure, like a single enormous block of divine iron through which countless chains of lawful runes flowed—began to blaze with explosive intensity.
Imagine an ordinary person wielding a knife to attack someone, only for the blade to suddenly become forty meters thick. Could he still lift it?
At last, in utter silence, a killing and suppressive force hundreds of times greater than the total power of the law phantoms began to leak out.
The overpressurized bomb had exploded!
That force continued to condense, far surpassing its theoretical limits. Though it lacked the support of True Immortal laws and was therefore inferior in quality, its sheer quantity vastly exceeded the combined energy the two law phantoms had possessed at the peak of their True Immortal cultivation—by dozens of times.
An immense and unbelievable torrent of energy erupted in a frenzy.
Although the power had originally flowed from the bodies of the White Tiger and Vermilion Bird phantoms, once it became too immense and began surging back along the formation, it instantly inflated them like balloons.
With a thunderous blast, they exploded!
Nearly infinite killing force furiously scoured the land phantom, which stretched across hundreds of light-years.
On the Immortal Ascension Road, where space was incomparably stable, pitch-black spatial rifts spread wildly like a spiderweb.
Yet the suppressive sealing force mixed within the killing power forcibly locked space in place, preventing it from collapsing completely.
Under the clash of these two forces—which had originally worked in concert but were now pulling against and suppressing each other amid the chaos—a corner of the Immortal Ascension Road was torn apart, forming a colossal spatial rift like a bottomless abyss.
Of the hundreds of Vermilion Bird and White Tiger Law Bucket blocks Fang Zheng had placed, several dozen law blocks were swept along with that corner of space as it split apart like an entire piece of cloth being torn away. Like patterns woven into the fabric, they surged together into the pitch-black abyss.
Beyond the spatial rift lay a sky filled with stars and a vast supercluster of galaxies.

The killing force and suppressive force—almost boundless in quantity, still pouring continuously from the hundreds of law blocks without pausing for even an instant—transformed into countless White Tiger and Vermilion Bird phantoms, each as enormous as the sun. Roaring, they plunged one after another into that immense starry world.
Once they entered the starry sky, they lost the mysterious block-man who had originally been their locked target. They also lost the infusion of the false divine consciousness belonging to the divine-beast law phantoms. The countless White Tiger and Vermilion Bird phantoms formed from rune chains gradually began to crumble and disintegrate.
It was much like a whale fall, nourishing all things.
As the vast mass of rune chains slowly shattered, the foundational power composing them was released once more.
Dense white, brilliant gold, and blood-red energies spread throughout the starry sky, containing vast quantities of immortal spiritual energy and undying matter.
It was almost as though the magical power of a living True Immortal were being continuously drained away.
As the dissipating power fell toward lower and lower energy levels, the dense immortal mist twisted space, turning ten million miles into a distance no farther than a stone’s throw. It then dispersed in discrete, leaping fragments, transforming into resplendent golden and blood-colored divine liquid scattered across a radius of hundreds of light-years, shining like stars across the heavens.
Countless runes of the Dao drifted up and down within it, containing an immense vitality as well as killing force that had not yet fully disintegrated.
At the same time, in every corner of that distant starry sky—
Within ancient forbidden lands where beings that had survived from the shattering of the Immortal Ascension Road in the Mythological Age until the present had severed themselves in pursuit of immortality, sealed away and suppressed their own life potential, and fallen into hibernation-like sleep—
One divine sense after another, each radiating a pressure capable of collapsing heaven and earth, awoke from slumber. They stared at the strange aura that had suddenly appeared in the starry sky, filled with suspicion and uncertainty.
In the North Dipper Star Region, deep within the abyss known as the Desolate Ancient Forbidden Land, a figure covered in golden fur and bound by chains slowly opened its eyes and let out a roar.
Also in the North Dipper Star Region, amid the Buddhist land of the Great Desert, where yellow sand stretched in every direction, faint chants began to echo across the desolate and lifeless sands. A phantom formed from pale golden light emerged from the faith of countless Buddhist devotees and gazed at the anomaly in the starry sky.
Still in the North Dipper Star Region, beneath a mountain range built from strange purple stones, the leisurely tolling of a bell rang out.
