Chapter Twelve: Mate with Me

Rumble, rumble—
At that moment, Ling Yinyin stood at the entrance to the Forbidden Zone, hesitating as she listened to the faint sound of falling rocks coming from within.
She had sprayed herself with “Heart Oasis” several extra times before she finally dared step into the pitch-black cavern.
The howling wind mingled with the heavy breathing of a giant beast from deep within the passageway, filling the area with mysterious and unknown dangers.
Ling Yinyin had a bad feeling.
She continued forward through the darkness. Instead of growing louder, the disturbance gradually faded until, at last, everything fell silent.
“Mo Yin?”
All she could see was the dark, hulking back of a giant serpent.
Mo Yin lay motionless on the ground.
Summoning her courage, Ling Yinyin walked over to inspect him. Reaching the enormous head, she gently prodded Mo Yin’s nose.
“Are you all right?”
Only when she leaned closer did she notice that his head was covered in wounds from repeated impacts. The thick smell of blood drifted into her nostrils. Even a fool could guess that before she arrived, Mo Yin had already lost control and gone berserk.
He had smashed his own head until it was covered in injuries.
The sound of falling rocks outside had probably been caused by Mo Yin ramming his head against the stone walls.
Seeing him in such a miserable state, Ling Yinyin felt a little sorry for him.
Being a male beastman was not easy. Their periods of heat were not only frequent and unpredictable, but also accompanied by unbearable mental torment.
The giant serpent lowered its head weakly. When it heard Ling Yinyin’s gentle call, it opened its eyes and began making soft, huffing sounds through its nostrils.
Ling Yinyin sensed that it was still conscious, so she stroked its scales soothingly. “Can you change back? I’ll help you return to bed and rest, all right?”
“…”
Mo Yin merely gazed at her in silence, his expression exhausted and his body unmoving.
All right. It seemed he had no strength left.
Ling Yinyin could only sit down where she was and lean against his enormous body, hoping that the scent of “Heart Oasis” would bring him a little more comfort.
Sure enough, the giant serpent主动 brought its head closer and repeatedly nudged her body with the tip of its nose.
Though its movements were gentle, Ling Yinyin was nearly toppled over. She hurriedly scolded him, “Don’t move.”
The giant serpent stopped and let out a heavy whimper to express its displeasure.
Ling Yinyin sighed. “Hurry up. Once you’ve rested enough, change back as soon as possible.”
How was lying on the floor all day supposed to be acceptable?

She had not even eaten dinner yet. She was starving.
For a moment, she had no idea who was more unfortunate.
One Desire Fruit had resulted in two victims.
The giant serpent slowly writhed its body around her, enclosing her within its territory. Then it rested its head beside Ling Yinyin’s legs and finally closed its eyes in silence.
Perhaps this was the only time the creature ever looked completely harmless.
About ten minutes later, the giant serpent suddenly began trembling again, lashing its tail anxiously.
“Hiss…”
It raised the upper half of its body, a fierce gleam in its eyes, once again looking ready to go berserk.
Even though Mo Yin was currently in the form of a snake, Ling Yinyin could still see the pain and struggle on his face. This time, his period of heat seemed especially violent. The soothing effects of “Heart Oasis” were simply too limited.
The best option now was to offer him her blood.
With no other choice, Ling Yinyin bit open her fingertip and touched the blood to the giant serpent’s nose.
The next moment, it really did stop moving. The wildness in its eyes gradually cleared, and it lowered its head to stare at her curiously.
Then it extended its tongue and began licking.
Ling Yinyin had originally thought that once Mo Yin calmed down, she might escape tonight’s bloodletting. But this damned heat kept coming in wave after wave, without end.
Before she had left, Mo Lan had told her that a male beastman’s heat was closely connected to his rank. The higher the beastman’s rank, the more severe the mental frenzy during his heat. Mo Yin had already reached the peak of the fifth rank, and if his heat was not soothed in time, his life could be in danger.
Across the Holy Beast Continent, countless high-ranking male beastmen had died from violent outbreaks during their periods of heat.
For that reason, many males did not dare to advance recklessly. Those with companions were especially cautious. Once their heat arrived, they could only leave and endure it alone, lest they harm their partners.
Many never returned alive.
When Ling Yinyin learned all this, she had been deeply shaken.
But looking at Mo Yin now, she found herself pitying him instead.
She was lost in thought and failed to notice when Mo Yin changed back into human form. By the time she realized it, her finger was already in his mouth, being sucked on desperately.
Ling Yinyin: “…”
Mo Yin clamped down hard on her finger. His soft tongue slid over and over the skin at her fingertip, sending a moist warmth through her. Her face instantly flushed scarlet.
“Hey, if you’re going to drink, then drink. Don’t…”
Don’t lick her.
Ling Yinyin was utterly exasperated. Why did this man have to make so many little movements with his mouth while drinking blood?
They left her whole body feeling weak and uncomfortable.
Mo Yin remained immersed in the fragrance of her blood, utterly unable to hear what Ling Yinyin was saying. Driven by instinct, he tried to draw more fresh blood from her finger, and his movements grew increasingly forceful, both with his mouth and with his hand.

Ling Yinyin frowned and cried out in pain, “Gently.”
Her finger had been squeezed until it turned white.
But Mo Yin showed no sign of stopping. He even drove his fangs into the old wound, widening the bloody hole.
“Mmph… Mo Yin!”
Ling Yinyin was genuinely in pain. The fingers were connected to the heart—how could he bite her so viciously?
Angrily, she raised her other hand and began pounding Mo Yin’s head, intending to let him experience the agony of making an injury even worse.
Mo Yin gave a muffled groan. While he was distracted, Ling Yinyin quickly pulled her hand free.
“No more blood for you!” He was utterly insatiable!
Mo Yin gazed at her hungrily. A drop of blood still clung to the corner of his lips, making him look like a vampire.
“Yinyin…” he murmured slowly.
“What?” Ling Yinyin asked, pouting.
Was he lucid now?
She saw his throat bob. His violet eyes were still unfocused, and sweat glued his disheveled, damp hair to his face. His normally wickedly handsome features looked utterly disheveled.
Ling Yinyin leaned closer to examine the wound on his forehead. The flesh was mangled and covered in blood, a horrifying sight.
After thinking it over, she decided that she still needed to go outside and call someone in to help. The wound had to be bandaged.
“Wait here. I’m going out to get someone.”
“Yinyin… don’t go.”
Mo Yin instinctively grabbed her and pulled her into his arms, his mind clouded and confused.
“Don’t go…”
Ling Yinyin stared at him, bewildered. “What are you doing?”
She suspected that snakes were simply born with a tendency to cling to people. Every time, he liked to coil around her so tightly that she could hardly breathe.
All she heard was his labored breathing.
“Mate.”
“...?” Ling Yinyin did not hear him clearly.
“Mate with me,” he repeated.
Ling Yinyin decided he must have lost his mind. She pinched his cheek and snapped, “You want to mate? Have you even come to your senses?”
But suddenly, her entire body trembled, and she froze.
