Judge actions, not intentions; judge intentions, and no one is flawless.
Watching the once chattering boys and girls finally grow a hint of fear, Yun Ran was satisfied and sat back down.
At that moment, the team leader, a teacher, completed the necessary formalities and got on the bus. Seeing a fist-sized hole in the reserved empty seat, he was stunned.
He glanced back and forth several times, rubbed his eyes, but the hole was still there.
“What’s going on here?”
This bus was school property, perfectly fine when they left, and now suddenly this big hole appeared—how was he supposed to explain this?
The culprit, Yun Ran, who had been so arrogant and showy just moments ago, was now equally embarrassed.
She could only grit her teeth and say, “Well, I accidentally caused it. The quality of this seat back is really poor. I suggest the school consider upgrading to better interiors in the future.”
Everyone else was speechless.
They had never met anyone so shameless in arguing. Clearly threatening them before, and now shifting the blame onto the quality of the bus.
The team leader fell silent for a moment before convincing himself to accept this explanation.
“We will take Yun Ran’s suggestion into consideration.”
For a teacher to cooperate with her so earnestly, he was truly a talent. No wonder he was chosen as the team leader—he knew how to navigate social niceties perfectly.
“All right, now to the main event. I believe everyone knows the purpose of this study tour. At our next stop, we will join students from other friendly schools to experience running street stalls. The journey will take about two hours…”
Yun Ran took a copper coin she had pulled from a cloth doll earlier as a makeshift divination tool. Tossing it casually, the omen foretold misfortune!
She immediately began calculating, and soon, an expression of helplessness appeared on her face—today, she would gain nothing!
Beside her, the chubby boy pretended to be calm, but his eyes kept sneaking glances.
Watching Yun Ran act like a mystic, he grew more anxious, inexplicably feeling all his excess flesh tremble in fear.
Previously, the two hours passed quickly, but now, with Yun Ran’s unpredictable presence, every second seemed like an eternity.
After the chubby boy’s endless muttering, they finally arrived at the destination—a tourist town.
Here stood a famous trade pedestrian street, bustling with many snack vendors and artisans, alive with vibrant energy.
The team leader soon connected with the other groups and directly escorted their party of twelve over.
---
“The money you earn today will be donated as charity funds, and credits will be recorded under your name accordingly. Everyone, do your best!”
They arrived early, and the pedestrian street was still relatively quiet.
From afar, Yun Ran saw several banners proclaiming the “Love on the Road Charity Event.”
She also noticed students from other schools, each wearing different vests.
These young masters and misses not only brought ample supplies but also had designated people who delivered their needed items well in advance.
Yun Ran, however, was alone, carrying a single suitcase, looking distinctly out of place.
If it weren't for the reporters taking photos nearby, these privileged youths would probably have wished their caretakers would quietly handle everything for them.
[Host, is this what people call putting on a show?]
“What do you care? As long as the money is donated, it doesn’t matter. Actions speak louder than intentions; no one is perfect.”
The ginseng fruit was instantly enlightened.
The team leader then noticed Yun Ran had yet to prepare and asked, “Yun Ran, it’s about time. Has the person your family sent arrived yet?”
Yun Ran gave a dry look at the teacher who had just stabbed her in the back. She seriously suspected this was payback for her breaking the seat earlier.
“They’re either selling second-hand items or snacks, nothing original. I’ll just wander around for now.”
The team leader was speechless.
Yun Ran slung her small bag and strolled around but found nothing she liked. It seemed she had no choice but to fall back on her old trade!
When the ginseng fruit learned Yun Ran planned to set up a stall offering divinations and peace talismans, it couldn’t help but give a thumbs-up. For Yun Ran, fortune-telling and talisman-drawing were as simple as eating and drinking—a business with no overhead!
By afternoon, the street grew lively.
Everyone else’s business was booming, but Yun Ran’s newly set-up divination stall remained desolate.
The chubby boy was energetically grilling starch sausages, doing so well that the contrast with Yun Ran’s stall was striking.
[Host, why don’t you shout some promotions? Otherwise, I’m afraid you’ll fall asleep sitting there.]
“I won’t earn a single penny today. I don’t want to waste my time.”
---
Saying this, Yun Ran stood up and swaggered over to the chubby boy’s stall, speaking with the air of a wealthy patron, “Give me ten sticks!”
The chubby boy silently handed over the grilled sausages without even daring to mention payment, clearly viewing Yun Ran’s behavior as that of a bully.
“Hmm, tastes good. No wonder you’re from the Zhu family.”
After scanning to pay, Yun Ran wandered off to check out other stalls. When she turned away, the chubby boy heaved a sigh of relief.
At closing time, the team leader came to tally the earnings. Yun Ran’s column showed a big zero, firmly placing her at the bottom.
Unable to hold back, the leader was about to say something when Yun Ran interrupted, “Teacher, don’t open your door casually tonight, or you’ll be in trouble.”
The teacher was baffled. He only wanted to comment on the embarrassment of zero earnings and had been threatened in return?
Was her temper a bit too sharp?
However, when night fell, he understood what Yun Ran meant and was grateful he had been cautious when hearing a knock on his door, thus preserving his reputation.
---
Early the next morning, yawning, Yun Ran saw the team leader bring over a bowl of beef noodles, piled high with meat.
“Thank you for your warning last night, Yun Ran. This is for you.”
Yun Ran glanced at him lazily. She only spoke up because he looked like a decent person.
More importantly, it was only the first day of their trip. They were traveling on a tight budget, and any further trouble would spoil their study tour mood.
“It’s because you listened to the advice. No need to thank me.”
Noticing her cool demeanor, the team leader said no more and found an excuse to leave.
No one knew that under his feet, he felt somewhat unsteady.
Last night, someone next door had fallen into a honey trap, and the gang had originally targeted him first!
