Chapter 41: Shameless Women Enjoy Life First
...
Puff.
Lin Shu hung up the phone and laughed like a madwoman.
Xie Buchend asked her what she was rambling on and on about with that so-and-so, saying it sounded downright malicious—what decent person spoke in such a roundabout way?
Lin Shu replied, "He finally mustered up the courage to call me, and hanging up on him directly would be too hurtful."
Xie Buchend let out a hum.
And started scowling again.
This guy is really...
In the mall atrium, a stage had been set up with free performances, and a bunch of little boys and girls were sitting below, waiting for the clown to twist balloons.
"I want one too."
Lin Shu raised her hand.
The clown looked at her awkwardly and said, "Pretty lady, these are for children."
Lin Shu said, "I'm a child too, I just look old."
Lin Shu locked in a standoff with the clown.
A cute little girl with double ponytails waddled over, grabbed Xie Buchend's hand, and blinked her big eyes.
Xie Buchend bent down.
The little girl gave him her dachshund balloon and planted a loud, juicy kiss on his cheek.
The parents hurried over to scoop up their child.
After catching a glimpse of Xie Buchend's looks, the mother squeezed her daughter's tiny hand while grinning from ear to ear.
Having failed in her negotiations with the clown, Lin Shu walked over with a long, gloomy face, looking every bit like a clown herself.
She stared at the dachshund balloon in Xie Buchend's hand.
Then she looked at the grinning mother-daughter duo nearby, and instantly grasped the whole situation.
Xie Buchend wiped the saliva off his cheek and handed her the balloon he had bartered his looks for.
Lin Shu said, "Selling yourself out behind my back again."
Xie Buchend said, "Yeah, I'd do anything to support you."
...
What a terrible conversation.
Lin Shu held the balloon, shaking it back and forth. Even though she hadn't really played with anything much, she felt quite happy—perhaps because the New Year's atmosphere was just that wonderful.
The air was brisk and cold, but colorful balloons were everywhere, upbeat music and dances played continuously, crowds of adults and children bustled about with lively energy, and snack carts were surrounded by throngs of people.
She traced the ballroom dance footprints embedded in the plaza floor, mindlessly following the steps.
Passing by Xie Buchend, she yanked him right into the dance.
This bro had incredible athletic coordination.
While Lin Shu had to stare fixedly at the footstep diagrams to stumble along, he merely glanced at them once and precisely stepped into the rhythm of the male lead's steps.
"Change feet."
"To the right."
"Step back."
Around the fifth repetition, Lin Shu grew familiar with the routine and began dancing with exaggerated flair.
Xie Buchend walked along with her, untangling her whenever she twisted herself into a knot, getting stepped on a mere five, six, seven, or eight times in the process.
Lin Shu had had her fill of play.
Xie Buchend sat on a bench to dust off his shoes.
She asked with a grin, "Are your feet swollen?"
"Not bad."
"I told you I could do it myself."
"Oh."
Xie Buchend didn't even raise his head.
Lin Shu braced herself on the bench, swinging her legs.
Catching sight of someone glancing at her from the corner, Xie Buchend tugged at the hem of Lin Shu's skirt.
Lin Shu smoothed her skirt down and said, "I'm wearing safety shorts underneath, it's fine."
"Your guard is way too low."
"Your guard is high, yet you let the little girl kiss your cheek."
"Is that the same thing?"
Xie Buchend laughed in exasperation.
Lin Shu was simply annoyed.
She so much as poked him and he'd ramble on and on with all sorts of complaints, yet when a little girl planted a kiss right on his lips, he smiled at her.
"Men are such hypocrites."
Lin Shu let
