Chapter 38: CEO Jing Is Absolutely Obsessed!

Song Xi arrived at the airport, went straight through security, and sat in the waiting lounge.
At the wedding, she had carried her DSLR around and taken quite a few photos. Now she took advantage of the time to delete the bad ones and select a few good shots for detailed editing.
The phone on her knees vibrated and slipped to the floor.
Song Xi bent down to pick it up, but a large hand reached it first.
A cool silver watch came into view, followed by a forearm, a black shirt, and finally the handsome, sharp-featured face of a man.
Jing Zhuo?
Were they taking the same flight back to the capital?
“Put your phone away. The floor is slippery.”
Jing Zhuo handed her the phone, then sat down beside her.
“Oh, thank you.”
Song Xi took back her phone and simply tucked it into her handbag.
Chen Feng, who had followed behind them, glanced at the VIP lounge not far away. He hesitated, but in the end, he sat down in the public waiting area with his boss.
Song Xi’s plane ticket lay on the small table beside her seat. Jing Zhuo picked it up and glanced at it. She was in the last row of economy class.
She had bought her ticket late and had not managed to get a decent seat.
He had never sat at the back of a plane, but he once heard Zhang He Ning complain while talking about celebrities. The last row was noisy and cramped, and you could not even bend your waist. It was practically torture.
“Chen Feng, check whether there are any seats left in first class.” Jing Zhuo turned and instructed his subordinate.
Chen Feng took out his phone and checked. Then he shook his head regretfully. “President Jing, they’re all occupied.”
“Then switch seats with her later.”
Chen Feng stared at him. “What?”
“She’ll take your seat. You go sit in the back. Sorry to trouble you—just make do.”
Chen Feng felt utterly miserable.
Why was he the one sacrificing himself whenever his boss pursued a woman?
Couldn’t the boss sit in the back himself and upgrade the passenger beside Song Xi instead? That way, everyone would be happy.
“Of course, Boss. It’s no trouble at all.”
Song Xi had overheard their conversation and felt there was no need.
“I don’t have to switch. Wherever I sit is fine. It’s only two hours, anyway.”
Jing Zhuo gave her a meaningful look. “Mrs. Jing, have you become addicted to pretending you don’t know me? Can’t we even sit in the same row on a plane?”
That tone…
Was he upset because of what had happened over the past two days?
Song Xi was in the wrong in this matter. Thinking that she should placate him a little, she nodded.
“All right. We’ll switch.”
…
After boarding, Song Xi sat beside Jing Zhuo in first class and felt rather embarrassed.
For some reason, it felt a little like they were on their honeymoon.
Ding!
Her phone chimed. A WeChat message popped up, and Song Xi tapped it open. It was the man her grandmother had introduced to her for a blind date.
He had replied.
“Hello, my name is Zhan Xin. [Dog-head emoji]”
Her grandmother had introduced them, so Song Xi could not be too cold toward him. She was afraid the old woman might call her the very next second.

Song Xi replied politely, “Hello, I’m Song Xi.”
“Your name is so lovely~”
He replied instantly.
Song Xi did not know how to respond to that. Just as she was thinking about how to end the conversation, a cool male voice came from beside her.
“We’re about to take off. Turn on airplane mode.”
“Oh… all right.”
Song Xi came back to herself and simply stopped replying. She put away her phone and switched on airplane mode.
Perhaps it was only her imagination.
For a brief moment just now, she had once again felt that the man was a little unhappy.
In the past, she would have kept guessing at the other person’s thoughts, walking on eggshells and exhausting herself in the process.
But she would not do that anymore. She would put an end to all sensitivity and self-consumption. In the new year, she would begin by focusing on herself.
So she leaned back in her seat, closed her eyes, and soon fell asleep.
Jing Zhuo watched helplessly as she casually messaged her blind date, casually chatted with him, and finally casually fell asleep.
What remarkable emotional dullness.
Her husband was sitting right beside her, yet she seemed completely oblivious to him.
Back home, whenever he became silent and distant, his two younger brothers would observe his expression and come over of their own accord to apologize and curry favor.
With Song Xi, he was not only being ignored—his position seemed to be in jeopardy.
If she found someone younger and more to her liking through this blind date, would she divorce him?
Jing Zhuo felt that he could not accept that.
His expression cold, he called over a flight attendant. “Hello, could you bring me a blanket?”
“Of course, sir.”
A minute later, Jing Zhuo unfolded the soft blanket and draped it over the sleeping Song Xi. Her posture was awkward, and her head kept lolling to one side. She was sleeping very uneasily.
He paused, then gently supported her head and let it rest against his shoulder.
For the entire two-hour flight, he did not move once.
In the last row of the cabin, Chen Feng sat bolt upright in the cramped seat, staring fixedly toward the first-class section he could not see, his mind racing.
His boss had a wife, and he was completely smitten!
No wonder he had insisted on coming to Su City right when she was getting married.
No wonder he had shamelessly canceled his hotel reservation and moved into her home.
He was completely smitten!
As an excellent executive assistant, Chen Feng was determined not to become an inconvenience to his boss. So after landing, he slipped away without a word, leaving his boss and his boss’s wife a chance to be alone together.
The driver had run off as well.
Jing Zhuo pushed two suitcases side by side with one hand and carried Song Xi’s handbag with the other as he led her out of the airport.
Several times, Song Xi tried to take one of the suitcases back while holding her camera, but Jing Zhuo refused every time.
He said it was a man’s job and she did not need to interfere.
Song Xi followed silently at his side, secretly thinking that his chauvinism was rather obvious.
The car was parked outside the airport. Jing Zhuo took the wheel himself and drove them back to their marital home.
On the way upstairs, Song Xi picked up two parcels.
She had nothing to do that afternoon and still had half a day of leave left, so she opened the parcels first. Inside were the underwear and trousers she had bought to replace the ones she had ruined for Jing Zhuo.
Song Xi folded everything neatly and hung it in the wardrobe in the dressing room.

“Um, I bought replacements for the two pairs of trousers I cut up last time. They’re hanging in your wardrobe.”
She went into the living room and called out to Jing Zhuo.
He was pouring water. Hearing her, he nodded. “Got it.”
After a pause, he added, “I put the clothes I washed for you in the drawers of your dressing room too.”
The image of him solemnly washing her underwear that night flashed through Song Xi’s mind, followed by the sight of him solemnly folding her panties and placing them in her lingerie drawer.
Awkward. Mortifying. So embarrassing.
They had only slept together once, yet they had already handled, measured, and kneaded each other’s intimate clothing.
There was a strange feeling to it—both indecent and oddly innocent.
Song Xi quickly pushed the thought aside. She opened her suitcase and pulled out a large bag filled with brightly colored items.
She opened it in front of Jing Zhuo, rummaged through it, and handed him a small box.
“Here. I brought you a gift from Sanya.”
Jing Zhuo’s brows lifted. He accepted it with obvious pleasure and opened the box. Inside was a set of leaf-shaped bookmarks.
“I noticed that you have a lot of books by your bed, and every one of them looked well read, so I bought you this little souvenir. It’s not much, so don’t complain, okay?”
“It’s a wonderful gift. I like it very much.”
Jing Zhuo genuinely liked it. A gift represented the giver’s feelings, and she had deliberately chosen the bookmarks after carefully observing that he loved to read.
She had him in her heart.
Song Xi then took out a Buddhist prayer bracelet and set it aside.
“This one is for Zhang He Xing.”
Next, Jing Zhuo watched as she packed up the rest of the large bag of gifts, beaming with delight.
“All the rest are for He Ning.”
Snacks, local specialties, scarves, bracelets, and refrigerator magnets…
There was enough to fill an entire large box.
The pleasant mood Jing Zhuo had been enjoying shattered in an instant.
Out of that huge pile of gifts, she had casually picked out a bookmark for him and a bracelet for Zhang He Xing. Everything else was filled with her love for her best friend.
His few leaves were not even as valuable as Zhang He Xing’s gift.
At least the bracelet could be worn on the wrist…
The leaves could only be secretly tucked into a book, never displayed in public.
Just like him.
But President Jing had not reached his current position through humble surrender. He had gotten there through the drive to fight for and seize what he wanted.
Without changing expression, Jing Zhuo took the large bag from her and claimed it for himself.
“I heard Zhang He Ning has been reading a lot lately. The bookmarks suit her better.”
“I’ll exchange gifts with her.”
Song Xi stared at him.
As he spoke, he opened the package containing Zhang He Xing’s bracelet, then slipped the delicate thing onto his own wrist.
“The opening is too large. Zhang He Xing won’t be able to wear it.”
“I’ll wear it for him.”
