Chapter 37: Setting Up a Blind Date for Song Xi
Where were the pants? Where were the clothes? She had offered to help him with his laundry, yet he only handed her a pair of worn underwear?
Jing Zhuo saw her standing there, dazed and not taking them for a long time, and asked, "Is this not what needs to be washed?"
Song Xi’s face turned bright red. Hearing footsteps behind her—someone seemed to be coming upstairs—she could no longer stay. She snatched the underwear from his hand and darted into her room.
A few seconds later, the nanny’s voice came from outside the door. "Mr. Jing, you can change out of your suit; I will have it sent to the dry cleaners for you."
Jing Zhuo replied, "Thank you, just a moment."
Song Xi leaned against the back of the door, hearing the conversation outside, and her heart sank to the bottom. It was over. Her plan had fallen through. She would have to wash his underwear while blushing.
Jing Zhuo was very clean in his dressing habits, fresh and tidy, with no specific areas needing extra scrubbing. Song Xi stood by the sink, rubbing the fabric with a reddened face. After rinsing away the suds, she took out the small dryer she kept there, tossed them in, and set it to two hours for drying and sterilization. Because a man’s undergarments were too conspicuous, she couldn't hang them out to dry.
At eleven o’clock that night, Song Xi sneakily knocked on Jing Zhuo’s door.
This time, when the man opened the door, he wasn't wearing his suit trousers; he was in a loose, dark bathrobe that covered most of his physique, leaving nothing to be seen.
"Here, I’ve washed and dried them for you."
Song Xi folded the fabric into a neat square and handed it to him. The freshly dried clothes were still warm, carrying a scent from her—a faint floral fragrance.
Jing Zhuo took them, his gaze darkening slightly in the dim light of the hallway. This most intimate item had been rubbed and tumbled by her hands, only to be pressed back against his body, infused with her scent. It was the height of ambiguity.
Song Xi had returned the underwear, but she lingered for a moment, her gaze darting toward his lower half. Her eyes were fixed squarely on that spot, as if there were something there that intrigued her.
*Hmm?* She was interested?
Following her gaze, Jing Zhuo looked down silently.
"Do you like it?" he asked out of the blue.
"?"
"Do you want to reach in again?"
Song Xi blinked. "What?"
"It’s not entirely out of the question." In the dimness, Jing Zhuo hesitated for a moment before saying, "The hallway isn’t convenient; people might walk by. You could come inside and close the door."
"!!!"
Close the door and do what!? Reach for him?
Song Xi froze, blood rushing to her head! He dared to say it, but she didn
