The moment Shen Yanzhi said this, everyone’s expression changed dramatically.
“No!” Shen Yuanzhong was the first to object.
Huang Sheng’s legs had long since gone weak with fright, and the arrogance with which he had challenged Shen Yanzhi moments ago had vanished without a trace.
Chen Jin, however, listened only to Shen Yanzhi. As soon as Shen Yanzhi finished speaking, he pulled out his phone and called the police.
A grown man like Huang Sheng could no longer care about his dignity. Terrified, he turned to Shen Yuanzhong for help. “Uncle, save me… I know I was wrong. I really know I was wrong… I never intended to embezzle anything. They kept tempting me with money, and I lost my head for a moment…”
“Tell that to President Shen!” Shen Yuanzhong kicked him.

Shen Yanzhi lowered his eyes and looked at the man before him, who was groveling like a stray dog. His dark eyes were deep and unfathomable.
“Twelve million was merely the largest amount you embezzled in a single instance. It wasn’t the total. You accepted plenty of gifts and red envelopes at those smaller gatherings, didn’t you? You signed plenty of contracts involving inferior materials and kickbacks, didn’t you?”
“All of it is recorded in these documents.”
“You used the Shen Group’s name to extort money and favors, damaging the company’s reputation. How do you intend to compensate for that?”
He spoke neither hurriedly nor slowly, his voice calm and utterly flat, yet it exerted an inexplicable pressure.
Huang Sheng trembled so violently that he could no longer even speak.
Shen Hongguo and Shen Yuanzhong had never imagined that Huang Sheng could be so greedy. Twelve million had not been enough for him; he had not even spared the scraps and petty gains.
They had already been furious when they saw the twelve million just now and had not bothered turning further through the documents.
Or rather, they had never imagined that the thick stack of papers would consist entirely of evidence of Huang Sheng’s corruption.
They had not expected Huang Sheng to be so bold, nor had they expected Shen Yanzhi to investigate everything so thoroughly.
Chi Yu took in Huang Sheng’s disgraceful appearance, feeling a surge of disgust.
People like him were poisonous parasites wherever they went and whatever position they held. Prison was the best place for him.
Shen Yuanzhong was also furious over what Huang Sheng had done, but he could not simply abandon him.
He had come to the company today to stand up for Huang Sheng, not to send him to prison to live off public funds.
Clenching his fists, Shen Yuanzhong said, “Nephew, tell me. What will it take for us to put this matter behind us?”
“I already said it. He must compensate the Shen Group in full for all the losses it suffered,” Shen Yanzhi replied.

If Huang Sheng only had to repay the twelve million, along with the other gifts and kickbacks, he could still help him scrape the money together.

The contract Shen Yanzhi referred to was a resignation declaration.
Although Old Master Shen had not handed the Shen Group over to Shen Hongguo and Shen Yuanzhong, he had given them substantial shares and important positions within the company.
They both possessed voting rights and a voice in major company meetings.
Previously, dissatisfied that Old Master Shen had bypassed them and handed the company directly to Shen Yanzhi, Shen Hongguo and Shen Yuanzhong had deliberately voted down Shen Yanzhi’s proposed reforms several times at shareholders’ meetings.
Just as Shen Hongguo and Shen Yuanzhong disliked Shen Yanzhi, Shen Yanzhi had long since lost patience with these two elderly relatives who relied on their seniority to throw their weight around.
The last time Shen Yanzhi had directly forced the two of them to step down, Shen Hongguo and Shen Yuanzhong would already have become ordinary shareholders who could do nothing but collect dividends if Old Master Shen had not intervened.
Now Shen Yanzhi had brought up the matter again.
Once Shen Yuanzhong signed the contract, he would be giving up his current position and authority within the Shen Group.
“In your dreams!” Shen Yuanzhong snarled.
Then he suddenly realized something. “So that’s it! I was wondering why you were being so accommodating, actually giving Huang Sheng the position of project manager. It turns out you had already been setting this trap from the very beginning!”
Shen Yanzhi could not be bothered to argue. “I didn’t force him to embezzle, and I didn’t force you to come knocking on my door. Besides, I’m not discussing this with Third Uncle. I’m informing you. You have two choices. Pick one.”
As soon as he finished speaking, the police entered under the guidance of Assistant Chen.
At the sight of the uniformed officers, terror flashed through Huang Sheng’s eyes. He hurriedly clung to Shen Yuanzhong’s leg and begged for help. “Uncle, save me! Please save me! I’m begging you—sign that contract! Please! I really don’t want to go to prison!”

Shen Yanzhi briefly explained the circumstances to the police and handed them the stack of documents from earlier, which served as evidence in the case.
The police quickly took Huang Sheng into custody.
Shen Yuanzhong clenched his teeth, his expression dark, as he watched helplessly while the officers led Huang Sheng away.
Between the power he held and his nephew from his wife’s family, he still knew which mattered more.
After the police left, Shen Hongguo and Shen Yuanzhong could no longer remain seated. With grim expressions, they left with their bodyguards.
Shen Yanzhi glanced at the two untouched cups of bitter tea on the coffee table and told Assistant Chen to take them out and throw them away.
He was not disappointed that Shen Yuanzhong had chosen not to sign the contract. In fact, everything had unfolded exactly as he had expected.
Huang Sheng was merely a small poisonous fang he had pulled.
Based on what he knew of Shen Yuanzhong, the man would never be able to swallow this humiliation.
As long as he took action, he was bound to reveal a weakness.
Shen Yanzhi had both the patience and the time. There was no need for him to hurry.
He left Huang Sheng’s case to the company’s legal team, instructing them to ensure that Huang Sheng received the punishment he deserved.
Once he had finished giving his instructions, Shen Yanzhi continued handling his work as though nothing had happened, as if the events of just now had been nothing more than an insignificant interlude.
Watching his composed, aloof profile, Chi Yu was filled with admiration. A domineering CEO was indeed a domineering CEO. Such mental fortitude and extraordinary concentration were hardly qualities an ordinary person could possess.
Lazily, Chi Yu turned over inside his phone.
Even when Shen Yanzhi finally stopped working and picked up his phone to speak with someone, she neither hid nor avoided him.
Over the past few days, Chi Yu had already clearly realized that she currently had no physical form. Even if she drifted back and forth inside Shen Yanzhi’s phone right in front of him, he still would not be able to see her.
What surprised Chi Yu was that, this time, Shen Yanzhi actually accepted the other party’s invitation over the phone.
