Chapter 16: A Whopping Profit of 5.3 Million!
“Deal!”
The moment Murong Xue offered four million, the corner of Jiang Cheng’s mouth curled up, and he agreed without a second thought.
The sudden turn of events left Murong Xue completely dumbfounded.
In her mind, judging from Jiang Cheng’s shameless behavior just now, he would surely raise the price again and fleece her one more time.
His demand would definitely be higher than four million!
Yet, contrary to her expectations, Jiang Cheng refused to play by the usual rules.
He did not raise the price. He simply agreed at once!
Was he kidding?
While Murong Xue was still puzzled, Jiang Cheng suddenly added, “Miss Murong, why didn’t you make your offer earlier? My actual asking price was only three and a half million. Why didn’t you say so sooner? If you had offered earlier, I would have sold it to you right away. You could have saved half a million!”
Jiang Cheng narrowed his eyes and gazed at Murong Xue with a smile that was not quite a smile.
“What? You… You’re shameless!”
Murong Xue was so furious that her face turned green. This Jiang Cheng had made money from her and still had to rub salt in the wound.
Damn him! He was utterly despicable!
When had she ever suffered such humiliation in all her life?
The moment she imagined Jiang Cheng’s smug, villainous expression, her entire body began to tremble with anger.
“Next up, this piece of tiger-skin jadeite has an opening bid of three and a half million. Is anyone interested?”
Jiang Cheng began auctioning Shen Sining’s Qiluo jade once more.
As he spoke, he kept glancing at Murong Xue every now and then.
None of the jade merchants present thought much of the stone. For one thing, they had no idea what was so special about tiger-skin jadeite. For another, Old Liu Ruiming had already offered seven hundred thousand for it, and when Jiang Cheng raised the price to three million, Liu had withdrawn. That clearly meant the stone was worthless. They were not fools; no one was going to fall for the same trap.
Thus, nobody said a word.
Murong Xue was grinding her back teeth so hard they practically rattled.
Zheng Wanfu was almost laughing himself numb.
He looked at Jiang Cheng as though he were an idiot.
Old Liu had offered only seven hundred thousand for the stone, yet Jiang Cheng had bid three million!
Spending three million on a stone nobody wanted—Zheng Wanfu had never seen anyone so stupid.
That piece of Qiluo jade had originally been destined for Murong Xue’s possession.
Instead, Jiang Cheng had used it to toy with her, and now he was auctioning it off right in front of her.
Murong Xue had cursed Jiang Cheng’s entire ancestry in her heart by now.
Seeing that Murong Xue still had not responded, Liu Ruiming reminded her in a low voice, “Xiaoxue, three and a half million is absolutely worth it. It’s Qiluo jade, after all. If you have a master process it and market the finished product properly, it could easily sell for more than ten million. There’s no need to get into a quarrel with some wet-behind-the-ears kid.”
Murong Xue took a deep breath. How could she not understand what Liu Ruiming was saying?
She was not angry because Jiang Cheng had raised the price to three and a half million. She was angry because the perfect plan she had prepared had been completely ruined by that shameless man, and she had ended up with the vile reputation of cheating her best friend.
How could she not be furious?
Voluntarily giving Shen Sining another two million would have been a favor. But after being exposed for deliberately underpricing the stone and cheating her best friend, raising the bid to buy it would make her look guilty.
Would Shen Sining be comfortable with that?
That was what truly mattered to her.
Murong Xue let out a long sigh, shook her head, and deliberately called out loudly, “Three million. I’ll take it!”
Liu Ruiming quickly caught on and deliberately raised his voice as well. “Miss Tang, this piece isn’t worth three million at all!”
Jiang Cheng sneered. These two fools were still putting on an act!
“Miss Murong, three and a half million. Take it or leave it. I can’t sell it to you at a loss, can I?”

“Deal!” Murong Xue said coldly.
“Miss, think this through!” Liu Ruiming urged.
“Do I look short of three and a half million? No one has ever been able to take away anything I set my sights on!”
She was the very picture of arrogant extravagance—the perfect image of a brainless rich heir with too much money and nowhere to spend it.
Liu Ruiming fell silent.
The more Jiang Cheng looked at the two idiots, the more he wanted to laugh.
They were still acting?
Their performance could crush every pretty-faced young actor in the industry.
Still, Jiang Cheng saw through them without exposing them.
The corner of his mouth crooked upward as he loudly flattered her. “Heh heh, Miss Murong certainly is generous! The total comes to seven and a half million. Here’s my bank account. You can make the transfer now. From this moment on, these two top-grade raw stones belong to you!”
Looking at Jiang Cheng’s unbearably smug face, Murong Xue desperately wanted to rush over and slap him twice.
Two minutes later, a message arrived on Jiang Cheng’s phone.
Seven and a half million dragon coins had been received.
The corner of Jiang Cheng’s mouth lifted, and his heart surged with excitement.
Zheng Wanfu was instantly stunned.
Only a moment earlier, he had been mocking Jiang Cheng for having something wrong with his head, saying that nobody wanted the stone he had bought for three million.
The very next moment, Murong Xue had bought it without hesitation.
Zheng Wanfu’s old face had been slapped again and again!
The more he thought about it, the angrier he became. He had sold five raw stones and earned only three hundred and fifty-eight thousand.
And even that had come from making exorbitant demands and fleecing his customers!
Jiang Cheng, on the other hand, had casually made more than four million in one stroke.
He had earned more in a single night than Zheng Wanfu made in an entire year!
And the person making all that money was Jiang Cheng—the very man Zheng Wanfu hated most.
Why?
Why could Jiang Cheng, who had once obeyed his every command, been toyed with until he was utterly helpless, and humbled himself just to beg for shelter, suddenly earn so much money?
The more Zheng Wanfu thought about it, the angrier and more resentful he became.
A mouthful of blood suddenly burst from him.
His vision went black, and he collapsed straight to the ground.
“Oh no! Oh no! Boss Zheng is vomiting blood and has fainted!”
Several workers fell into chaos and hurriedly carried Zheng Wanfu away.
When Qin Xiaoshu heard that Zheng Wanfu had vomited blood and fainted, he spat viciously. “Serves him right!”
Jiang Cheng glanced at Zheng Wanfu and gave a cold laugh.
Then he ignored him.
Without another word, he transferred three million three hundred thousand to Shen Sining and two million two hundred and fifty thousand to Qin Xiaoshu.
He kept one million nine hundred and fifty thousand for himself.
Everyone was happy.
Of course, three hundred thousand of that was money Jiang Cheng personally owed Shen Sining. The cost of purchasing the raw stones had been fifty-eight thousand, and Qin Xiaoshu had said that he deserved a share in the gambling venture, so they would simply split the four and a half million in profit evenly.
When Shen Sining saw the three million three hundred thousand that had just arrived in her mobile bank account, she excitedly threw herself into Jiang Cheng’s arms, kissing and nibbling at him, her eyes practically overflowing with hearts.
This was the dowry Jiang Cheng had earned for her!
She made Jiang Cheng’s entire body burn with embarrassment. He could neither hold her nor push her away.
His old face turned crimson.

After deducting the costs, Shen Sining had earned a full five million in one night. Every bit of it had been earned for her by Jiang Cheng.
“Brother Cheng, I made five million in one night! Hahahaha! My dad will never call me a glutton again! I can make money too! Hahahaha…”
Shen Sining was so happy that her tail might as well have been pointing at the sky.
Qin Xiaoshu stared blankly at the message confirming that two million two hundred and fifty thousand dragon coins had arrived, completely at a loss.
That was two million two hundred and fifty thousand!
It was more money than he could have earned in his entire life before.
And because of Jiang Cheng, he had truly obtained it.
In an instant, Qin Xiaoshu’s eyes grew moist.
For twenty-two years, he had struggled through society, acting like a dog for his superiors. For a salary of only a few thousand a month, simply to survive and keep from going hungry, he had endured being cursed out by his bosses without daring to talk back even once.
All because he had no money. He was destined to be bullied.
But now he had more than two million. He would never have to go hungry again, never again have to slave away for a superior in exchange for a pitiful two or three thousand a month.
Everything he had now had been brought to him by Jiang Cheng.
“Cheng, I don’t know what to say. You’re my brother for life!”
Looking at Qin Xiaoshu’s tear-filled eyes, the softest place in Jiang Cheng’s heart was touched as well. His own eyes reddened in an instant.
He patted Qin Xiaoshu firmly on the shoulder. “Don’t worry, Xiaoshu. I’ll always be your brother. From now on, we’ll make even more money together—tens of millions, hundreds of billions. We’ll live good lives!”
“Mm! We definitely will!”
It was a promise between brothers, eternal and unbreakable, lasting until death.
“Sining, are you coming with us for a late-night celebratory meal, or…?” Jiang Cheng glanced at Murong Xue, then looked sincerely at Shen Sining.
“I… I’ll stay with Sister Murong.”
Jiang Cheng nodded. He leaned close to Shen Sining’s ear and quietly warned her, “Sining, listen to me. Murong Xue is not a good person. That piece of tiger-skin jadeite is worth more than four million three hundred thousand. She deliberately tried to cheat you.
“And there aren’t any other valuable raw stones left in this warehouse. If you trust me, don’t touch any more of them. And tell Murong Xue this for me: she should find some time to go to the hospital and have her brain examined. Her brow looks ominously dark to me. She must have something wrong with her head!”
Without paying any attention to the envious looks around him, Jiang Cheng led Qin Xiaoshu toward the entrance of the stone-cutting grounds.
Even after Jiang Cheng and Qin Xiaoshu had disappeared from view, Shen Sining’s ears were still burning red.
They were her most sensitive spot.
Murong Xue stared thoughtfully at Jiang Cheng’s departing figure, her expression meaningful.
Then she walked over to Shen Sining.
“Sining, did that boy say bad things about me?” Murong Xue asked, pouting.
“Huh?”
Shen Sining was still savoring the gentle, seductive sound of Jiang Cheng’s voice from moments earlier, and for a while she seemed lost in a daze.
Grinning, she pulled Murong Xue aside. “Heeheehee! Sister Murong, Brother Cheng said you deliberately underpriced the stone to cheat me, and that you’re not a good person!”
Even if Murong Xue had deliberately underpriced it, Shen Sining did not care. They were best friends.
“That’s all? Just as I expected! That bastard!” Murong Xue ground her back teeth together with a grating sound.
“What else did he say?”
“Um… He also said there aren’t any more highly valuable raw stones left here, so I shouldn’t touch any more. He also told me to pass along a message to you…”
At that, Shen Sining became somewhat hesitant.
“What message?”
“Brother Cheng told me to tell you to find some time to go to the hospital and have your brain examined. He said your brow looked ominously dark, and that there must be something wrong with your head!”
Shen Sining’s voice grew softer and softer as she spoke.
“What? He actually insulted me? That bastard! I’m furious!”
Murong Xue’s brows drew tightly together, and she suddenly felt dizzy.
But just as that surge of anger rushed to her head, her vision abruptly went black, and she fell forward onto the ground.
“Sister Murong! Sister Murong!”
Shen Sining reacted quickly. Seeing that something was wrong with Murong Xue, she immediately caught her before she could hit the ground and cried out in alarm.
