Chapter 48: The Laboratory—Lighthearted Conversations
Precision instruments, Y-alloy mecha, and intelligent glass. And two scholars at work—or rather, two researchers.
They were concentrating, using their minds and the instruments before them to analyze the Y-alloy mecha and the seemingly simple piece of glass.
Suddenly, the laboratory doors swung open. A researcher in a white coat strolled in, moving about casually and ignoring the two scholars engrossed in their work.
After a while, one of the scholars could no longer bear it. He set aside his work, raised his head, and asked, “Who let you in? Don’t you know this lab is exclusively for Tyler and my brother Tyron?” However, the newcomer paid him no mind, instead walking over to the Y-alloy mecha and giving it a touch.
“Hey! He’s talking to you! My brother just said, this is our lab—how can you just touch anything at will?” Tyron, seeing the newcomer ignoring Tyler, decided to step in himself.
“Oh, am I not an exception? This is my creation, after all!” The voice sounded very familiar, and Tyron and Tyler finally realized who had arrived.
“So it’s Your High—”
“No, I’m Tynan. Scholar Tynan, don’t forget!” Scholar Tynan smiled.
“So, how’s your work coming along? Analyzing my creations, are you? When you can’t come up with your own research, you start pilfering others’ results?”
“Sorry, Mr. Tynan, we had no choice! Orders from above, after all. Besides, don’t you want to resolve the Satan Crisis as soon as possible? Why not let us fully analyze everything and then equip—”
Tyron tried to explain, but Tynan saw through his real intention.
“On the ‘Angel’ project, right? We all know the real design behind Angel. While I may have designed the main structure, all the other components were provided by you. So once you analyze a few of my materials, you just need to copy them to finish building ‘Angel.’” Tynan sat down on the chair nearest the Y-alloy, fiddling with something.
“At least two more components are still needed before it’s usable, so all this may not be of much use to you yet.”
“We’re just trying to speed things up. Those two components can be temporarily substituted anyway,” Tyron said, not thinking their efforts were futile.
“By the way, Mr. Tynan, we have something else to discuss with you. Please, let’s speak in the confidential chamber…”
“Oh? I didn’t expect my brothers to have such schemes!” Tynan couldn’t help but laugh.
“Your Highness, don’t you feel a sense of urgency at all? On one side is Prince Quill, supported by the entire military hierarchy; on the other, Prince Charles, with the backing of both old and new nobility. And now, a fourth force has emerged—the Empress herself, supporting the so-called Princess.” Tyron looked anxious, but Tynan remained completely unruffled.
“Heh. As long as there’s no definitive proof of my death or anything of the sort, none of them can openly vie for the throne. Especially not my two brothers, who show me such respect, or Wenxin, who is almost constantly under our ‘surveillance,’ right?” Yes, this ‘Tynan’ was none other than the current Crown Prince of the English royal family—His Highness Treshey, or, to put it plainly, Mingchuan.
“What? Has Your Highness already confirmed that the so-called Princess is Wenxin?” Tyler asked, suddenly excited.
“I’m fairly certain. Even if Wenxin isn’t the Princess, she must be closely connected to her.” Still playing the role of Scholar Tynan, Mingchuan was unmoved.
“In any case, once your so-called ‘Angel’ replicas are completed, every senior royal family member will have one. I trust you know what to do?”
“Yes, Your Highness!” As Tynan was about to leave, Tyron hurried to inform him of something important: “Your Highness, rumor has it that Prince Quill will be visiting the military camp tomorrow, so…”
“Don’t worry. I know exactly what to do.”
