Chapter Twenty-Five: The Great Sword Unsheathed—A Vow to Slay the Giant
“Hurry, hurry, find cover and wait for the chance to ambush!”
“Regroup for the attack, each squad spread out!”
“My Greek Legion, concentrate your fire!”
While the other three squad captains were organizing their attacks, Mingchuan stood to the side, observing the giant’s body for any changes when it was attacked. After careful observation, Mingchuan realized that the giant was not invulnerable; its skin caved deeply inward under assault.
“All Eagle Eye pilots, assemble immediately. We have work to do.”
“Understood, Commander.”
“Wait a minute,” Andrew suddenly interjected, “are you saying you’re mobilizing even my subordinates?”
“Sorry, I just need to borrow them for a moment.”
Once all the Eagle Eye pilots were gathered, Mingchuan issued his command: “Here’s your mission. In a moment, all of you will activate your visible red laser sights. Winchester, you’ll lead the aim; everyone else, follow his targeting point and fire at the same time!”
“Understood, Captain. All targets acquired… fire.”
In an instant, six armor-piercing rounds struck nearly the exact same spot. The surface tension of the giant’s skin couldn’t withstand the simultaneous impact, and a gaping wound tore open in the giant’s body. Yet, those six rounds, aimed right at the heart, failed to penetrate it; instead, they were stopped by a composite C60 carbon plate embedded before the heart.
“Hahaha, see? Your bullets are useless against me. Even if you pierce my skin, you can’t get through your own invention—the C60 plate!”
“Big guy, don’t be so cocky. Your grandpa’s right here,” Colt snapped, fuming that the giant dared boast after being shot clean through. Enraged, Colt charged forward, using his mecha’s agility to strike at the giant’s heel. But the Light Knight’s attack power was lacking; Colt’s blows could only scratch the outer layer of the giant’s skin.
“Damn it, even Eagle Eye’s powerful strikes barely hurt him. Knights are useless too, let alone the area-attack Heavy Breakers or the speed-type War Wolves. How are we supposed to bring him down?” Enelte was anxious, his mind a blank, until Mingchuan patted him on the shoulder.
“Don’t worry, Enelte. Come with me to the fourth floor—I’ve got an idea.”
“What, you have a plan?”
“Of course. But you’ll need to get on your bike, or we might not have enough kinetic energy.”
“Kinetic energy?” Enelte was curious—what exactly did Mingchuan have in mind?
Since they were in a parking garage, driving up to the fourth floor was no problem, but Enelte still didn’t understand Mingchuan’s intent.
“Enelte, let me tell you—before we left, Tyron taught me a way to increase the Knight’s attack power.”
“What?” Enelte was startled. “Why didn’t they tell me?”
“You never asked,” Mingchuan replied with a helpless shrug. “Only Dragon Knights can pull this off. Didn’t you notice something odd about this round’s twin blades?”
“Now that you mention it—they’re straight-edged.”
“That’s because—” Mingchuan paused, drew both blades, and joined their blunt edges together. The two blades fused into a single greatsword.
“There. The new weapon is ready.”
“So that’s why you need kinetic energy—to use a parabolic trajectory from the fourth floor, converting it into force to pierce his heart?”
“Not the heart—the neck. That’s why it takes two of us. Come, let’s do this together.”
“All right, though I still don’t get why we need to go for the neck!”
The two mounted their bikes—Mingchuan on the right, holding the sword with his left hand; Enelte on the left, sword in his right. Simultaneously, they revved up and accelerated, soaring off the edge into the air. The giant, seeing them coming, looked up, unwittingly exposing his throat.
The two greatswords slashed into the sides of his neck, carving deep furrows. Mingchuan and Enelte landed safely on the third floor of another building. Just as Enelte was about to complain that it had all been for nothing, he realized—the giant’s head was no longer on his shoulders, but had rolled beside the corpse.

The Knight finished today’s draft in leisurely fashion. In truth, most of my energy is still going into plotting “The Prey.” And after all, I’m still a student, and I need to have some fun. So, off I go!
