Chapter Eleven: "God of Thunder" — The Avengers' Unexpected Involvement
“…Oh, right, the team name, I haven’t finished talking about it. What should we call ourselves?” Mingchuan pondered for a moment.
“You mentioned a name starting with ‘Thunder’, but you didn’t finish before heading off to find Colt,” reminded Winchester. At this, Colt interjected, “So it’s all for yourself, huh! Mingchuan, you actually went with ‘Thunder’.” Mingchuan didn’t answer directly, but instead countered, “Colt, have you ever heard of ‘Wind, Forest, Fire, Mountain’?”
“I know it. So what?”
“Then please pick one character from ‘Wind’, ‘Forest’, ‘Fire’, ‘Mountain’, ‘Shadow’, and ‘Thunder’ for the team name.”
“My nature is fiery, so I choose ‘Fire’,” Colt declared.
“Too bad, another team already took that,” Mingchuan dismissed his idea.
“Someone took it? Then ‘Wind’,” Colt said, less confidently this time.
“Oh, what a coincidence, there’s a team called ‘Storm’ already,” Mingchuan replied with sarcastic denial.
“If I may ask, how many are left?” Colt seemed resigned.
“Only ‘Forest’, ‘Mountain’, and the one I chose, ‘Thunder’,” Mingchuan made a helpless gesture, answering apologetically.
“I hate naming things. Fine, fine, ‘Thunder’ it is! As long as it’s not some awful name like ‘Thunder Police’ or whatever.”
“How about ‘Thor’? There’s even a god by that name in European legends.”
“‘Thor’? What do you think this is, the ‘Avengers’ from a century ago? Then you must be ‘Captain America’!” Colt burst out laughing at the suggestion.
“No, you’re ‘Captain America’. I’m just ‘Thor’,” Mingchuan defended himself. George chimed in, “If you say so, then Winchester is ‘Hawkeye’—no debate there. What about me? The Hulk?”
“I think so,” Thompson replied to him.
“Then I’m Iron Man.”
“Mingchuan, you did this on purpose!” Wenxin was quite displeased. “By your logic, I’d be ‘Black Widow’—is it because of that ‘I hardly know you’ line?”
“It’s up to interpretation. Anyway, there are six of us, just enough for the original Avengers lineup. Let’s just use these names on the battlefield,” Mingchuan hurriedly inserted, brushing the matter aside.
“Fine, let’s do it!” Everyone agreed to the idea (a faint voice: “Wait, I don’t agree!”).
“Then why not name the team ‘Avengers’?” Colt seized the moment.
“What? Isn’t that blatant copying? Forget it, I won’t call it ‘Thor Squad’ either. Let’s just call it ‘League of Heroes’!” Mingchuan scoffed.
“Alright, alright, have it your way. ‘Thor’ it is. Whatever!” Colt relented.
“Then that’s settled. I’ll input the name now,” Tina said impatiently, and immediately entered ‘Thor’ into the records.
“Alright, Mingchuan, this was delivered while you were in the restroom. It’s Ankara’s data, keep it safe!” Tina pushed a file toward Mingchuan.
“Wenxin, could you help me out? Please take the file to my room. I need to discuss something with Colt,” Mingchuan requested, hoping for her assistance.
“Fine, I got it.” Wenxin took the file and left.
“Lieutenant Tina, is there a training room specifically for mecha?” Mingchuan asked as he watched Wenxin go.
“Yes, right next to the conference room,” Tina replied. No sooner had she spoken than Mingchuan and Colt left the conference room, entered the training room, and locked the door behind them.
“Alright, let’s settle the score, shall we!” ———— Author’s Note ———— TK secretly wrote another chapter this time.
