Chapter 9 Bullying My Wife

Liang Jinshang left the house and first stopped at the pharmacy to buy some fever medicine, then headed to the Shang residence.
Sunday’s tutoring was scheduled during the day.
Shang Ao’er, suffering from a hangover, couldn’t get out of bed until Liang Jinshang forced her up. Her swollen eyelids drooped, and she listened to the lesson with little attention.
For the third time, Liang Jinshang rapped on the table, warning, “Ao’er!”
Shang Ao’er tossed her pen aside and exclaimed, “I’m exhausted!”
Liang Jinshang was a strict teacher when it came to academics.
Even with the girl before her—arguably the most privileged high schooler in all of Jin City—she maintained a stern demeanor and reprimanded her just the same.
But Shang Ao’er wasn’t intimidated by her scolding.
She looked over Liang Jinshang with mischievous eyes, then suddenly blurted out, “Miss Liang, you’re so full of energy. My uncle is useless!”
Liang Jinshang abruptly stopped speaking.
She met Shang Ao’er’s gaze calmly, though her composure was purely surface. Inwardly, she was anything but unfazed.
What did this girl mean by that…?
Shang Ao’er saw through her act, pointed at the bandage on her neck, and grinned wickedly.
“Miss Liang, that spot is so close to the carotid artery. Even if you want to leave a mark, you should avoid dangerous areas like that! How is it adults don’t even understand this?”
Liang Jinshang was utterly shocked.
Yet the surprise faded quickly, and she relaxed, saying, “You’re overthinking. It’s just a bite mark.”
Shang Yucheng hadn’t held back when he bit her in the car yesterday. She’d covered it up this morning.

She hadn’t expected Shang Ao’er’s eyes to be so sharp.
Just now, as thoughts raced through her mind, she had wanted to find another excuse.
But Shang Ao’er clearly sensed something between them last night. Liang Jinshang had thought the girl was oblivious, but now she realized she’d underestimated today’s high schoolers.
Seeing Liang Jinshang didn’t deny it, Shang Ao’er swallowed an expletive, her excitement barely contained. “Is it true?! You and my uncle? Since when, I—”
Just then, a knock interrupted her interrogation.
“Ao’er, may I come in?”
Upon hearing Gong Xueyuan’s voice, Shang Ao’er’s smile vanished. She shot Liang Jinshang a look that said, “You and I are on the same side,” and replied coldly, “Now’s not a good time. I’m tutoring.”
But Gong Xueyuan opened the door anyway. “I know you’re having lessons, so I brought you a teacher!”
She entered with a middle-aged man wearing wide-rimmed glasses, who paid no attention to Liang Jinshang. “You weren’t satisfied with the previous tutors, but this Mr. Li is a top-notch educator I worked hard to hire. Every student he’s taught has gotten into the top two universities…”
“I don’t need him! I don’t need anyone! It’s not your place to interfere!” Shang Ao’er snapped angrily. “Gong Xueyuan, I’ve told you several times now! If you really can’t understand human speech, I’ll pay for this star teacher to enlighten you!”
Gong Xueyuan was fuming.
Shang Ao’er was indeed the cherished princess of the Shang family, but Gong Xueyuan herself was the pampered eldest daughter of the Gong family—she’d never suffered such indignity!
“Shang Ao’er, I am your aunt. You never address me as such, but how can you speak to me like this?” Gong Xueyuan’s tone shifted, her gaze turning pitifully toward the doorway.
Sure enough, someone entered to back her up.
Shang Ao’er saw Shang Yucheng and didn’t flinch. “So eager for me to call you auntie, afraid you won’t hear it again in the future?”
Gong Xueyuan’s eyes reddened. “Yucheng, did you hear what she just said?”

Shang Yucheng’s face was stern. “Ao’er, apologize to your aunt.”
Hearing him personally affirm Gong Xueyuan’s status, Shang Ao’er couldn’t hide her astonishment as she looked between Shang Yucheng and Liang Jinshang.
It seemed she couldn’t believe Shang Yucheng disregarded Liang Jinshang's feelings so completely.
Wasn’t he with Liang Jinshang just last night…?
“Uncle, are you serious?” Disappointment and concern for Liang Jinshang filled Shang Ao’er’s voice.
Shang Yucheng drew Gong Xueyuan to his side. “Of course. I can’t just stand by and let you bully my wife.”
Gong Xueyuan leaned into his arms, her face smug.
The situation had shifted; for the first time, Shang Yucheng didn’t stand up for Shang Ao’er.
Shang Ao’er turned away, refusing to acknowledge them, the grievance in her heart far more genuine than Gong Xueyuan’s recent act.
“Mr. Shang, may I ask what I did wrong to warrant being suddenly replaced?” Liang Jinshang finally spoke, her tone calm and distant.
Shang Ao’er’s heart ached for her, and she reached out to hold Liang Jinshang’s hand.
She expected to feel cold skin, but was surprised by warmth—excessively warm, beyond normal.
“Because he’s a star teacher and you’re not,” Gong Xueyuan said arrogantly. “And because—I’m the one who wants you replaced. Of course Yucheng will listen to me.”
