Gong Xueyuan received no answer from the bathroom and raised her voice to call out a few more times.

Seeing that Shang Yucheng remained silent, Liang Jinshang took it upon herself to respond, “It’s me. Do you need something?”

Gong Xueyuan abruptly fell silent.

Perhaps finding the situation unlucky, she kicked the door panel before leaving.

Liang Jinshang didn’t understand why Shang Yucheng insisted on keeping quiet, but she enjoyed watching him brush Gong Xueyuan off.

She lifted one leg and hooked it around Shang Yucheng, her voice a slow whisper, “Honestly, you want to spend more time with me too, don’t you?”

She was wearing Chao Jingyu’s shirt, which was long enough for her to walk outside bare-legged. Yet, in this posture, it was short enough that every place meant to be close was pressed intimately together.

Shang Yucheng watched her for a moment, making sure she wasn’t feigning ignorance, before reminding her, “Did you hear Chao Xinghe leave?”

Liang Jinshang snapped out of her reverie.

She hadn’t heard Chao Xinghe’s footsteps departing!

If Shang Yucheng had spoken just now, Chao Xinghe would have immediately realized they were both in the bathroom together!

She wasn’t sure if Chao Xinghe had been careless or was deliberately testing them…

The next moment, Gong Xueyuan’s complaining voice provided the answer, “Chao Xinghe, do you think it’s funny to mess with me?!”

Chao Xinghe replied with a lazy grin, “Of course it’s fun! You look gorgeous even when you’re angry, Sister Xue! Come on, your man is at my house, he’s not going to get lost. Why are you so anxious?”

“You don’t understand!” Gong Xueyuan, helpless against this brat, stomped off in her heels.

While Liang Jinshang was lost in thought, Shang Yucheng grabbed her leg and pushed it off with a little force, mocking, “Neither of these brothers is simple. You can’t even handle the younger one, and you want to cling to the elder?”

She opened her mouth, wanting to protest that Chao Jingyu was a gentleman, nothing like him, and she hadn’t even considered trying to attach herself to him!

But Chao Jingyu—his family, looks, profession, and character—all exuded an irresistible charm.

From a woman’s perspective, Liang Jinshang couldn’t say with certainty that she would never be drawn to him.

Shang Yucheng watched her expression and let out a cold laugh.

“Go out first,” he ordered directly.

Liang Jinshang, realizing Chao Xinghe was waiting outside, lost the urge to spar further with Shang Yucheng.

But…

“My clothes aren’t changed yet…”

“Change them.”

“…” Seeing that he had no intention of turning around, she turned her back to him herself.

Better than nothing.

He’d seen her in every state, but she rarely undressed in front of him when he was fully clothed. Her ears gradually flushed red.

Shang Yucheng snorted, and Liang Jinshang immediately understood the meaning behind his laugh.

He thought she was being dramatic… He had probably grown more than tired of her body.

Liang Jinshang hastened to change.

Once finished, she left without delay, closing the door behind her.

Sure enough, Chao Xinghe was standing in the hallway outside, his back turned.

His elbows rested on the railing as he fiddled with his phone, relaxed yet distinctly rakish because of his striking appearance.

When he looked up and saw Liang Jinshang’s expression, he immediately begged for mercy, “Sister, I was wrong!”

Liang Jinshang frowned slightly, as if genuinely puzzled, “Hm? What were you wrong about?”

Chao Xinghe assessed the volume of Gong Xueyuan’s voice and the soundproofing of his own door, certain she had heard.

He obediently confessed, “About earlier… I… Fine, I did it on purpose! I just wanted to find out what your relationship with Brother Cheng is.”

“What do you think it is?” Liang Jinshang retorted, turning toward the stairs. “You can go check the bathroom yourself.”

Of course, Chao Xinghe dared not go in. He already guessed Shang Yucheng was inside.

He lengthened his stride and fell a step behind her, his gaze leisurely yet focused.

Liang Jinshang wore soft slippers, her silhouette far from anything suggestive or alluring.

That night at the club, he’d only approached her because, among the ranked beauties at school, he’d never seen her before.

It wasn’t lust at first sight.

It was later, when he noticed an interesting detail, that he decided he genuinely wanted to get to know her.

While playing dice, every time Chao Xinghe looked at her, he’d catch Shang Yucheng’s gaze colliding with his.

Once or twice could be chalked up to coincidence. But as it happened more often, only one possibility came to mind.

Shang Yucheng was always watching her.

Chao Xinghe found it fascinating. Shang Yucheng’s romantic history consisted of just two episodes, far too simple for someone of his looks and background.

The distant one was Si Rong, his long-time unattainable ideal, now married off abroad. The recent one was Gong Xueyuan, brazenly beautiful and devoted, waiting for marriage.

So what about Liang Jinshang? What kind of relationship could prompt Shang Yucheng, that night, to leave such an obvious “mark” on her lips, heedless of all the watching eyes?
