Chapter 112: Another Battlefield of Carnage

Liang Xizhou sensed something unusual about Liang Jianshang and propped himself up to look outside. He saw Shang Yucheng’s deep and cold expression and immediately broke into a malicious smile.
“President Shang looks really angry. What’s the matter? Such a happy occasion, and your wife—that is, your girlfriend—didn’t share it with you?”
His tone was full of hostility, as if to say that if he couldn’t be happy, no one else should be.
Liang Jianshang seemed drained of strength, collapsing weakly onto the edge of the bed, too exhausted even to glance at Shang Yucheng’s face.
She must have been living too smoothly lately, wrongly thinking that fate had finally spared her. She even dared to hope that both her life and Liang Xizhou’s could improve.
But after only a few days, the mirage vanished completely.
Shang Yucheng took long strides toward the bedside. Ignoring Liang Xizhou’s half-paralyzed state, he grabbed him by the collar and hoisted him up.
His handsome profile was so fierce it seemed to drip malice. “You? You think you deserve to call her your wife?”
If one overlooked Liang Xizhou’s perpetually dark and unhinged expression, his face was actually quite handsome. Having lived mostly away from sunlight, his skin was paler than most men’s, nearly matching Liang Jianshang’s complexion.
A man who was both pale and masculine owed it all to his low-saturation, cold features, which created an aloof, dignified demeanor.
But Liang Xizhou’s personality had nothing to do with coolness—he used to be a warm-hearted young man; now, he was a dog abandoned by fate.
He struggled and raged, “Whether I deserve it or not, with just one word from me, she will legally become my wife today. President Shang, are you interested in coming to my house to be the insignificant mistress who can’t even show her face?”
Liang Jianshang, whose soul had been wandering in a daze, suddenly snapped back to reality when Shang Yucheng swung a fist at Liang Xizhou.
Without hesitation, she lunged to block it.
Despite Shang Yucheng’s speed, his fist still grazed her left shoulder.
Liang Jianshang was swept by a powerful gust and fell atop Liang Xizhou; both were messy but at least she protected him.
Shang Yucheng roughly yanked Liang Jianshang off Liang Xizhou. His movements were heavy and unyielding.
With a cold face, he was about to check her injury.
“Shang Yucheng, you—” Liang Jianshang clutched at her collar.
“Shut up!” Shang Yucheng’s tone was harsh.
No normal man would dare to strike his own woman.

Especially when that punch was thrown to shield another man!
Liang Jianshang was stunned by his outburst, while Liang Xizhou seemed to mock the situation as if it wasn’t serious enough, sneering, “Ha! See? A wife is always closer than a girlfriend. She’s protecting me after all!”
Liang Jianshang glanced at Liang Xizhou weakly. “Stop talking, Xi—ugh!”
Without warning, Shang Yucheng grabbed Liang Jianshang’s waist with one hand, bent down, and forcefully sealed her marked lips with his own!
Liang Jianshang was forced onto tiptoe, numb from calf to tongue, as if enduring a punishment. Only then did the kiss end.
In an instant, all the alcohol’s fading effects surged back, and she could barely stand.
Shang Yucheng held her waist to keep her from falling.
His own breathing remained steady, as if the whole ordeal was merely an outlet for his pent-up rage.
Yet his expression was icy and indifferent as he looked at Liang Xizhou, taunting, “See? What I can do to ‘your wife’ is far from over. If you hadn’t taken the bed, I wouldn’t mind teaching you some things she likes…”
Shang Yucheng blocked a slap from Liang Jianshang without expression.
He pressed her against the wardrobe, planning to repeat his punishment.
Liang Jianshang struggled like a wild beast.
In her movements, the wardrobe door swung open, and a small medicine bottle tumbled out.
The room where Liang Xizhou was resting had once been the master bedroom of Fang Xinuo and Lu Rou.
Liang Jianshang hadn’t had the heart to tidy it yet, unprepared to face the memories.
But as far as she recalled, all the room’s outward decorations remained as they had been.
She pushed Shang Yucheng away, carefully picking up the small bottle.
It was a salbutamol inhaler, manufactured nine years ago.
It had belonged to Lu Rou.
Lu Rou had congenital asthma, so Fang Xinuo never let her do housework.
Lu Rou was pampered and delicate; before Fang Xinuo’s accident, even Liang Jianshang, as her daughter, rarely saw her suffer an asthma attack.
It was only after Fang Xinuo was imprisoned that Liang Jianshang witnessed several such attacks.
One of the essential medications was this very salbutamol inhaler.
Holding the spray, Liang Jianshang’s expression sank into a misty sorrow.
Neither Shang Yucheng nor Liang Xizhou spoke again to disturb her.
She knelt on the floor for a long while before Shang Yucheng roughly pulled her up, slammed the door, and led her back to the living room.
Zheng Jue had already left for an errand, and Chao Jingyu was on the phone.
Only Le Quan remained, playing a game.

Le Quan cast a complex glance at Liang Jianshang. When the argument had erupted in the bedroom, she had anxiously gone to check.
She had witnessed an extremely explosive scene.
Now seeing Shang Yucheng holding Liang Jianshang’s hand as they emerged, Le Quan assumed Liang Jianshang had been pacified by his fierce kiss and felt exasperated at her stubbornness.
“Liang Jianshang, come here. I need to talk to you!”
Since Shang Yucheng was present, Le Quan intended to ask him about that social media post from Gong Xueyuan and hear his explanation.
But Shang Yucheng refused to let her go, instead pulling Liang Jianshang down to sit in the spot Chao Jingyu had just vacated. “Play some games to relax.”
Liang Jianshang shook her head. She neither knew how to play nor was interested.
Shang Yucheng picked up the controller himself and immediately challenged Le Quan to a match.
Earlier, when Le Quan played with Chao Jingyu, she had won more than she lost and thought herself quite skilled.
Facing Shang Yucheng, however, she quickly realized that only by playing against a man with no sense of decorum could she truly gauge her level.
After losing four or five rounds in a row, Le Quan tossed the controller aside. “No sportsmanship!”
Shang Yucheng sneered mockingly and said to Chao Jingyu, “Ayu, two rounds?”
Chao Jingyu lounged on the sofa lazily. “No, I’ve had a few drinks and feel a bit tipsy.”
Shang Yucheng said nothing.
Chao Jingyu’s gaze fell on the watch he wore today. “The wine was good. Too bad you missed it. Where were you?”
Shang Yucheng curled his lips. “I don’t like the taste of blackcurrant. Missing it isn’t a loss.”
Chao Jingyu’s bottle of Romanée was indeed blackcurrant-flavored.
How did Shang Yucheng know if he hadn’t tasted it?
Chao Jingyu’s eyes flicked over Liang Jianshang’s unusually flushed lips.
After a moment of silence, he asked Le Quan for the controller. “Let’s do two rounds!”
Shang Yucheng complied, keeping Liang Jianshang close in his arm to prevent her from leaving. “Let me see how good you are.”
Beneath the surface, tensions surged.
“I can easily beat you,” Chao Jingyu said, rarely showing such sharpness but without arrogance.
