Zhang Shaodan escorted Chi Xingwan and Xiao Rui back to the Xiao family. The moment Xiao Rui got out of the car, he dashed toward the small villa.

“Grandma, I miss you so much,” he exclaimed, rushing into her arms and refusing to let go.

Grandma Xiao looked at him with mild disdain. “What are you going crazy for? Did you go daft from playing the match yesterday?”

Xiao Rui felt even more touched. “Grandma, you actually know I played in a match yesterday? I’m so moved.”

“How could I not know?” Grandma Xiao replied gruffly. “Almost every kid in the family went to watch your match. How could I, as the head of the household, be unaware?”

“Grandma, thank you for supporting my career so much.”

Grandma Xiao patted his head. “What choice do I have if I don’t support you? You don’t seem to have any other special talents.”

Chi Xingwan almost burst into laughter at this, her gloomy mood finally lightening a bit today. Xiao Rui was the same—though he no longer clung to Grandma, he still sat nearby, unwilling to leave.

“So, why are you acting so crazy today?” Grandma Xiao asked.

Xiao Rui then recounted the whole story about the ghost.

Grandma Xiao sighed. “I didn’t expect this. From what you said, his family seems well-off, but his parents are so old-fashioned and cruel.”

Xiao Rui nodded vehemently. “Exactly. My dad is such a bastard. When he stopped me from becoming a player, all he did was threaten the team not to accept me. He didn’t hire anyone to hurt my hand.”

Grandma Xiao shot him a glance, rarely defending her troublesome son. “Your father may be a scoundrel, but he still has some conscience. He wouldn’t break the law.”

“I know.”

Xiao Rui remained seated until Wei Shian came in, at which point Grandma Xiao had had enough and sent him away.

“I watched your match online yesterday. Congratulations,” Wei Shian said, feeling somewhat sorry for Xiao Rui and offering praise before leaving.

Xiao Rui was moved once more and wanted to sit down again, but a sharp look from Grandma Xiao finally made him leave unwillingly.

Just then, Xiao Yue came downstairs, and with all four seated, Wei Shian explained the purpose of her visit.

“I found a few clues from my side regarding the descendants of the Nalan family,” she said.

“My ancestral home wasn’t originally in Shanhe Province but in Jiangchuan Province,” Grandma Xiao added.

“Jiangchuan Province? That’s part of Linhai Province,” she said.

“Yes,” Wei Shian replied. “I discovered a description in the ancestral records about fishing at sea, which led me to investigate further. But I don’t know which city in Jiangchuan Province exactly.”

“That’s okay,” Xiao Yue said. “Jiangchuan has many cities, but not all border the sea. We should focus on those coastal cities; we’ll likely find something.”

Xiao Yue continued, “We’ll take over the investigation from here.”

Wei Shian agreed, knowing she lacked the capacity to investigate alone.

“Xiaolinghua has some clues too. If all goes well, we’ll soon find his grave,” Xiao Yue said.

Mention of Xiaolinghua brought a somber mood to the group.

After the serious talk concluded, Wei Shian turned to Chi Xingwan. “I mentioned before that I know a very talented singer named Li Hongying. We recently collaborated again. Xingwan, I want to introduce her to you.”

Before meeting Chi Xingwan, Wei Shian had no friends. Over time, only Li Hongying had truly entered her heart as a kindred spirit, so she was eager to introduce them.

Chi Xingwan didn’t refuse. “If there’s a chance, I’d love to meet her. But I’m a bit busy lately.”

“No problem, whenever you’re free,” Wei Shian quickly assured her.

After dinner, Chi Xingwan and Wei Shian said their goodbyes and walked out of the villa together. In the garden, they spotted Zhang Shaodan from afar.

Chi Xingwan approached her. “Dan-jie, has something happened again?”

Zhang Shaodan replied, “Nothing much. Xiao Rui, that scatterbrain, left his school card in my car. I’m just bringing it back. No more talking—I have too much on my plate lately. I’m heading to the company now. We’ll meet again.”

“Meet again…” Chi Xingwan suddenly glanced back at Wei Shian.

Wei Shian pressed her hand to her chest, which suddenly felt warm, her expression somewhat strange.

Chi Xingwan realized immediately. “Shian, take out your ivory jade pendant.”

Wei Shian quickly reached for it. “So it’s this pendant that’s heating up. But why all of a sudden?”

Chi Xingwan looked at Zhang Shaodan’s retreating figure. “It’s sensing its owner.”

Wei Shian looked over and was stunned. “Could she be the reincarnation of Zhong Lingyu?”

“Probably,” Chi Xingwan said. “But now she’s Zhang Shaodan, no longer Zhong Lingyu.”

“But the pendant still recognizes her.” Wei Shian hurriedly shoved the pendant into Chi Xingwan’s hand. “Xingwan, I don’t want this pendant. Return it to its rightful owner.”

Chi Xingwan didn’t move but asked, “This pendant helps suppress your condition. Are you sure you don’t want it?”

Wei Shian replied without hesitation, “I don’t want it. I’m doing much better now than before. I used to endure it, and I can now.”

“Alright, then let’s give it back to her.”

Chi Xingwan caught up with Zhang Shaodan and called out.

Zhang Shaodan stopped and turned. “Xingwan, is there something else?”

Chi Xingwan handed her the pendant. “Dan-jie, this is for you.”

Zhang Shaodan took it curiously. “Why the gift all of a sudden? It’s not even my birthday.”

“It’s not a birthday gift. Just keep it. This pendant is somehow connected to you.”

Zhang Shaodan thought it was some mystical thing. She caressed the pendant and immediately felt a warm familiarity. “It’s amazing. I inexplicably feel this pendant wants to be close to me.”

“This pendant was probably left by your ancestors, which is why it recognizes you. You should keep it.”

Hearing this, Zhang Shaodan no longer refused. “Alright, I’ll keep it. I’ll have to send you a gift in return someday.”

She wore the pendant and instantly felt a warm current emanate from it, confirming Chi Xingwan’s words.

Sitting in her car, Chi Xingwan called Xiao Yue. “Nothing urgent. I just wanted to ask about Dan-jie’s family situation.”

Xiao Yue said, “Dan-jie’s family is well-known as a model family in our circle. Her parents have been childhood sweethearts and have been together since growing up. They only have Dan-jie as their child. Some old-fashioned people suggested her father have a son, but he refused, saying one child is enough.”

Chi Xingwan then learned that after graduating from university, Zhang Shaodan joined her family’s company and learned business management from her father.

In recent years, Zhang Shaodan has established herself firmly within the group through her own abilities, allowing her parents to often take time off for honeymoon trips.

“Why do you suddenly ask about Dan-jie?”

Chi Xingwan smiled sincerely. “I just ran into Dan-jie with Shian. That ivory pendant recognized her.”

“The pendant’s owner was Zhong Lingyu,” Xiao Yue paused briefly, then understood. “You mean Dan-jie is actually… That’s wonderful.”

“Yes, wonderful.”

For this family of three, it was a lifetime of happiness at last.
